I don't think I've ever said anything is "hard" to do or even intentionally implied it.

I've never said it was "hard" to do. It said it would be massively time-consuming.
Not even remotely the same thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Out of curiosity. What is something you would deem hard to do?
[/ QUOTE ]
Trying to make a majority of you guys happy.

The majority may not post in the forum though.

I'm pretty much 90% satisfied with City of Heroes, and thus hardly ever post in the forums. Especially on the complainy parts. Why would I? I've got nothing to complain about?
The lurkers support you in email, BABs! -
I don't know if it exists, but if one of the small office maps is made up of mostly just one of the big multi-story rooms, you could handwave that as an indoor mall. It's a bit of a stretch, though.

For instance, let's take the "Gotta Fight The Contact" Trope. In some arcs, it seems that the contact's intent from the very beginning is to lead you into a trap, and you, as a player, were helpless against falling into it. This can get frustrating after a while, because these missions just keep telling you how much You Suck. You don't want a game rewarding your hard work with insults and betrayal
[/ QUOTE ]
A prime example of throwing the Idiot Ball that a lot of arcs fall into. If the contact is clearly setting me up, and the arc won't let me do anything about it because it assumes I don't see his intentions, then the arc is telling me that I'm an idiot, and that doesn't fly well. If you want to have the contact stab the player in the back, either make sure you're subtle enough that it's a surprise (which is very hard to do), give the player room to get out of it, or make it clear that the player has no choice but to go along. If you always assume the player is smarter than the contact, you'll avoid these problems.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe that doing stupid things because the contact tells you to is okay if the missions make it clear that your character realizes it's stupid too.
To take two examples at *cough* random. If your Contact is obviously trying to play the whole "Do my dirty work, hero" card, having mission entrance pop-ups like "'Concerned citizen', my ear. You have to wonder how destroying this drug lab will further CONTACT's schemes. Best look for clues as to what he's really up to while you're clearing this place out." lets you know your character's not falling for it any more then you are. Letting the arc end with the contact's schemes in ruins too help.
Or if your Contact insists on living in a different world and calls hell-hounds "puppies" and rifts in the fabric of reality "holes in someone's yard", just make sure the accept texts and mission clues make it clear that your character isn't buying the cover story any more then you are. Sure, the rifts need to be closed, and the demons chased off, but that's no reason to act as if your character is -actually- expecting there to be fluffy little dogs and mounds of dirt when they arrive.
Sometimes things just have to be done. Yes, destroying that Nemesis robot factory will somehow further Nemesis' schemes, but it still needs to be destroyed. So long as you acknowledge to the players that you aren't expecting them or your character to be snowed under by the cover story, I think it's still okay to run with it.
And if you have an actual well-executed betrayal twist, then go for it! Just have Sister Flame play test it first and make sure she doesn't figure it out before the big reveal. -

I wouldn't have expected to be quite so broken up over reading these words from you. Why, I remember when you were the big evil step-mommy that daddy had brought home and you aren't CuppaJoe and you'll never be CuppaJoe and I hate you I hate you forever! *stomps up to room*slams door*
I'll try to be nicer to the new one. We'll miss you, Ex! You've been wonderful. -

Whoot! I remember Hero 1 was going on about how much he wanted to do stuff for Midnight Squad at least year's Meet and Greet. Congradulations to him!
Since the 35+ level Midnight Squad stuff is co-op, I suspect the intro missions will be as well. If only because it seems to be the way most new content is designed these days, to ensure that villains and heroes get access to equal amounts of content but with only half the needed work.
I'd be flabbergasted to be wrong.
Now I get to have my Midnight Squad characters actually join up! -
Surely there are enough people who want PC who know C that the busywork could be farmed out to volunteers.
And the costume-designer software, that too!
Open source content!

And a pony. A purple pony called Gumdrop who flies and knows French cooking and gets me into all the Issue Betas.
Thanks for the summery, though. It's greatly appreciated. -
Haha! Manticore returns! Castle retrieves his proper name! BABs squeals like a little girl over the new resources he gets to play with!
I think it's time to admit that the cake is -not- a lie.
Welcome back, Mr. Fish. We've -missed- you. -

It was BaB's first, too!
[/ QUOTE ]
It was and I gotta say, not impressed. But I grew up in the south and midwest. I've faced down hurricanes, tornades, thunderstorms, hail, sleet, blizzards, you name it I've been in it. Got myself into a load of trouble by venturing out into a hurricane with a trash can lid when I was a wee lad. I was trying to turn myself into an untethered kite in 100+ mph winds before my mother caught me.
This earthquake just rounded off my exposure to natural disasters. All I need now is a volcanic eruption to complete the set.
Okay, so sure it was surreal, but no more surreal than vibrant green funnel clouds or standing outside in the eye of a hurricane.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, yesterday's trembler is to a real earthquake like a gusty day is to a hurricane. You'll know it when you get the real thing.
And hopefully I have not doomed us all by saying that. Time to buy some knockdown resistance!
(Though it was the first time I'd felt that particular rolling motion since '89. Not what I needed to have happen while sitting down to watch the Lost pilot for the first time.) -

Also: Put me down in the camp of "The Change is spreading back". I could swear Aracnos was still ruling the Rogue Isles in the last issue. Is this going to end with Nemisis taking control of the USA in the 1800s? -
I'm going to have to go with Time Travel on this one. The Newspaper articals are both about the world if the Tutorials "Went Wrong". The Outbreak plague sweeping out across the world, the Zig remaining escape-proof forever.
In otherwords: What would've happened if (Your Hero Name) wasn't there to do the work.
Flashbacks/Altered Timeline Missions/It's A Wonderful Life-style storylines? Who knows?
There had just better be some mother-fooshing 5th Column involved or I will be quite irate. -
It's not going to be the same without you. Without wanting to sound overly dramatic, it will be the end of an era for CoX. I know Cricket will continue the same great tradition, but we'll miss you.
Though this does give me just one more reason to want to get into the Tabula Rasa beta. -

You're missing the same thing everyone else is missing: a costume option for male bare legs. It doesn't exist.

Seriously, though, good piece. THough I'm -still- wondering just how the Outcasts manage to find so many natural elementaly-themed mutants who want to be bad. I mean, does Frostfire have some unknown ability to spark genetic potential in people, or something? -

So... Alternate Realities, then?
Because I would kill to have The Reichman (misspelling it, I know) revive, rebuild the 5th Column, and then reopen a gateway to his home dimension and start trying to beat the snot out of everyone.
And having an actual Preatorian Paragon City to mess around in would really rock. Expecialy if they included The Rogue Isles, where the resistance groups lead by Aracna-man were hiding out.
Hell, go back to the Rikti homework and kick the [censored] of everything that moves. Expecialy evil mutated King Aurther. I mean Hero 1. -1. One? -
[ QUOTE ]
To be clear: the code for sharing costume pieces between City of Heroes and City of Villains is NOT yet in...heck, it isn't even written yet. BUT we'll do it after release - hopefully very soon after release. Then heroes can have access to the new options.
To be honest, this idea came specifically from this thread. Since people wanted the new costume options, I checked with Software - who said it could be done. Just wanted to let you know that yes, we do take suggestions!
FYI - for those who don't like the idea because villains should look different than heroes - remember that villains already have hero options. They can create a character identical to one that exists in City of Heroes.
