I saw the section titled How long will COH last? Well i recall statesman saying he had ideas for years to come. In an interview (cant recall who with), he had City of Spies in the rafters(atleast wanted that after COV). Could this be the next stand alone creation for an already massive awsome hero/villian world? Let's hope so!

Don't know if this has any credibility (not knocking the OP at all, this is just something I personally have never heard of), but it intrigues me. The Hero/Villain thing is fairly obvious, but how might spies fit into the CoH/V universe?

I wish i could find the interview. But it was done shortly after COH launch. And he also said he had others. But that City of Spies he would like to do after COV. Good question about how would spies fit? Sounds cool to me. Imgaine the cool ATs they could do. (or might be already working on)

Well, I thought I remember after the issue of the Shadow Shard, he mentioned that a City of Aliens, or Galaxy of Heroes would be an expansion/stand alone with introduction of travel to other countless planets, and all new Alien races both good and bad.

I thought I remember this, but I may have smoked my lunch that day! WOOT!!!

The history within CoH is different from reality...heroes were in WW2, Alien invasion...a city in R.I. having better hero coverage than D.C....So, I think adjusting one historical event would make for a great game...The USSR never fell. Or better, how about if WW2 ended in a stalemate/uneasy truce? USSR/China vs. Axis vs. Allies. Add to the mix other semi-believable groups...a consortium of Latin American Interests, Asian Interests, Middle Eastern Interests and you have a pretty good world for some kickbutt James Bond-style intrigue.

Finally we can get our Tank/Mages.

Anyone have any other ideas for the next City of … game? I’m thinking:

City of Encyclopedia Salesmen (everyone goes around selling encyclopedias door-to-door)
City of Handymen (everyone is Mr. Fixit and runs around repairing everything)
City of Naps (where everyone just goes to get some sleep)

And, the one that would probably make the company billions of dollars a year:

City of Porn

I think spies would fit into a grey area, they can either have high morales, none at all or fit in some where in between.

As for archtypes, some of us have already thought about them...

Coordinator – When multiple agents are out in the field, someone needs to keep some level of order and grease the wheels to keep things running smoothly. This is the domain of the Coordinator. He keeps his allies buffed, protected and healed. A Coordinator is always trying to keep the situation under control.

Buff/Blast

Inherent power: Reserves, when everything is under control a Coordinator knows not to expend himself and always keeps a reserve for that moment things spiral out of control. When things start to look bad he knows it time to give it his all and breaks everything out. As teammates health drop his buffs and debuff become more potent.

Note: Coordinators are the only AT that gets pets in CoS as a ninth power for their primary.

Detectives – A Detective relies on his wits and his sharp senses for getting his job done. He watches his foe and looks for openings and weaknesses in his foes defenses and then taking them out to complete his mission. A Detective’s work takes him everywhere and often in tight spaces, meaning he needs to know how to fight up close and personal.

Melee/Defense

Inherent power: Deduction, the best way to beat your enemy is to know him. Watching his foes fighting style allows a Detective spot all the weaknesses and opens he can exploit to hit his enemy. Deduction builds up the same way a Brutes Rage does, but instead of giving him extra damage he gains Accuracy.

Enforcer – When it absolutely, must be stopped the Enforcer is your man. He keeps his allies out of harms way by stopping the enemies in their tracks. In a perfect world they could practice this trade from a distance, but anyone coming to Espionage City with that kind of mind set will be lucky if they’re shipped out of the city in a Pine wood box. As such, they train exclusively for up close and personal meaning most invest time in learning how to protect themselves as well as others.

Enforce/Defense

Inherent power: Decoy, when all your buddies have been stopped in their tracks and you’re all alone, the one stopping them tends to seem like the biggest threat. Enforcers use this to their advantage to keep the others safe while they pick off mezed foes. The more mezed enemies within 100ft of your character allows you to generate more aggro.

Note: Enforce is a mix of Melee and Control powers. For instance, the Icy Order set would look like the following.

1. Ice Sword
2. Frozen Touch
3. Frost
4. Block of Ice
5. Flash Freeze (Turned to PBAoE)
6. Power Boost
7. Ice Sword Circle
8. Greater Ice Sword
9. Frozen Aura

Tracer – As quiet as a shadow, as visible as the air, as deadly as a bomb, this pretty much sums up a Tracer. It’s his job to search through the urban jungle and find his man and make sure he’s not happy when he gets up. Stealth, subtly and range are the qualities that make a great Tracer.

Blast/Preserve

Inherent power: Cover, all Tracers know to stay out of sight and often can get off a single shot without giving themselves away. This click power represents this by giving you one aggro free shot as long as you’re stealthed.

Note: The Preserve set is a collection of self buffs and powers to keep a Tracer alive before and after he’s revealed. For instance, we have the Panoply set. A set of gadgets.

1. Hide (as per stalker power)
2. Wheels (a buff that gives a Tracer a speed boost in the form of wheels in his boots or shoes, toggle)
3. Explosive Rounds (small boost to damage, click)
4. Thermo Goggles (gives Tracer a +perception, toggle)
5. Targeting Drone
6. Nostrum (many drugs not readily available are used to get the end result of Nostrum, to make the pain less real. Tracer’s employ it when they know they’re going to be found and need to last a little bit longer. A boost to a Tracer’s max health, click)
7. Kevlar (A small boost to the Tracers defense against Smashing and Lethal, auto)
8. ACPR (This small device is planted in the Tracer’s chest, easily activated it jumps starts a dead Tracer’s system bringing him back to life with half health and end. Since adrenaline is used in the process the Tracer finds himself stronger for the experience for a short while, Click)
9. Blind (The Tracer sets this up to help cut down on the aggro he produces. This immobile object sends out a small aura that all Tracers can take advantage of)

Personally, I would suggest "Galaxy of Heroes", and offer shuttles between a variety of planets, as opposed to the Yellow and Green Line trams...

Of course, this could introduce some new archetypes and/or races, but for the most part I would prefer it still include and be an expansion for City of Heroes.

Wow I had forgot about that interview, now if the "lost city" or the space stuff comes to being - Man I am so signing on for that.

Oh yeah, and I sure hope that they allow us to change our powers colors as he said was in the pipe! I love mind controll powers - but I "hate" that pink!

One of the obvious moves is the City of Manga/City of Manhwa to appeal to CoH growing Asian audience, through NCSoft Distribution.

In particular, such a game/expansion would probably feature a high tech Korean or Japanese themed city with lots of martial arts powers, lots of robots, and perhaps a few powersets that cater directly to the magical girl types.
