5 Stars to you.

Indeed. Awesome job He_Who_Watches! -
I haven't found longbow particularly hard, although I do think they are among the tougher groups out there. As far as flamethrowers are concerned, my brute has little trouble with them but I do agree that executing flamethrower and ignite in a matter of couple of seconds is a bit strange, especially considering that flamethrower suppose to have activation of almost 4 seconds. Give'em some time in between, maybe have them throw a fire cage or something, or even just run up, punch them run back and throw ignite.
I do find longbow bosses particularly challenging, especially in large groups. The radiation and sonic bosses are particularly tough, as their debuffs are apparently ignoring the rules of ED- couple of shots from them and my brute becomes as squishy as a blaster. We had several team wipeouts when two large spawns were close enough to have the bosses "cooperate" with each other - although to be honest in most cases it tooks us couple of team wipes before we actually stopped and decided to come up with a strategy first
.
To address Posi's response - like others have said, if the risk isn't fun then bigger rewards aren't gonna help. -
I was sitting on an origin story for a while now, didn't know what to do with it. I'm gonna send it, see what happens.

I'd kill for the "final boss fight" of a Strike/Task Force to be a team of 5 different Boss or Elite Boss level villains/heroes that have witty dialogue, as well as complimentary powers and fighting tactics, instead of just a giant bag of HPs with the ability to one-shot squishies (AVs/Heroes).

Seconded, thirded, forthed, whatever, just do it! This is an awesome idea. -

DA has great resistances, cool utility powers, and some great control. I'm convinced that the devs decided to balance the set vs. the unbearable sound FX and graphics.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, DA became a good set only very recently and mostly due to nerfs to other sets as oppose to buffs to it.
[ QUOTE ]
I could have sworn I saw _Castle_ post about this not too long ago, but I can't find it now. Maybe I'm remembering something from CoV beta. Anyway, I'm pretty sure they're working on it, but if you want to be sure they know, send a /bug in-game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah he did post about it, can't find the quote but here's the gist - supposedly the DA armors' sounds should've been fixed together with the changes made to Mud Pots (basically the sound fades several seconds after activation), but for some reason the changes to DA never made it into the patch. Castle wasn't clear if that was because a decision been made to scrap them or because they forgot/had problems/what have you. I'm hoping it's the latter of course since it means the fix will come soon (and the real "soon", not "soon(tm)").

Something to note, for those inclined to note such things. Because we do the lookup based on your worst to-hit in the series, the streak breaker is a bit less aggressive about breaking streaks than it might initially appear from the table. If you miss an ill-advised attack with a final to-hit of 0.15, you would in fact be allowed to continue the miss series for another 99 attacks, even if all the followup attacks are of capped to-hit, should you be unlucky enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just wanted to quote this for emphasis. Remember that if you open with a low accuracy attack (brawl for example) you potentially open yourself up for the possibility of a long streak. -

Seconded. Castle is already edging up on CuppaJo for favorite red name.

Quite tasty but hard to describe, sort of like a muffin, but not.....err... they've got lots of holes in them to soak up butter and jam.

They are designed to soak up butter and jam?!
I'm sold! Bring me my crumpets! -

CuppaJo is one of my favorite Devs (Hrm, not really a developer, but still a redname . . . ) because, well, it's Cuppa. Show me a man that has a legitimate problem with Cuppa and I'll show you a liar.

Damn this stuff is great! I especially like the Thor's Assassin piece, awesome.
@thors_assassin: your current avatar ain't too shabby you know. -
Who the heck cares how many users CoH gets?! As long as it's enough to continue developing the game, what does it matter? You like the game play, you don't, don't play it, that's the long and the short of it.
Move along nothing to see here. -
Because of certain policies no one on these forums can help you but google is your friend.
-
Well, the way I see it, there are at least two ways to introduce tons of new content without actually leaving the CoH universe, sort of.
I don't know if that's what Jack meant, but when he mentioned shadows I thought of parallel universes type of deal (that's how these are called in Zelazny's Nine Princes of Amber). We already have Praetorions and Axis-America, and there's tons more potential there for cool stuff, in fact I hope that CoV at least have the parallels to Praet's and AAs, but obviously even beyond that, there's just no limit to what you can do in parallel worlds.
The other thing is time travel (sort of), similar to what's going to be introduced in WoW's expansion (very cool stuff there btw, even if you don't play it you should read up on it). We could have missions that send you to the past, maybe to participate in some famous battles (like 5th Colum's attack on Paragon... hmmm, a reason for 5th Column to return? I'm there!), or help out with famous missions and so on. We might even get to see Statesman and other heroes in their old/original costumes.
Oh and if they dedicate a whole Issue to making Shadow Shard anything but a ghost zone I'm all for it. -
Originally I wanted to make an SS/Inv brute, both because I have little experience with the sets from CoH and cause for my concept I figured a werewolf like creature (yeah I should've realised everyone and their mother would be rolling those
). However, for beta, I figured I should actually roll something else just so that when I create the toon on live I get a fresh experience. So I went with DA/Stone and quickly fell in love, and when I got into the headstart I rolled pretty much the same toon. I like how DA is a punching set that doesn't glow like a chrismas tree
, and as for stone, well I just can't wait till I get granite. Stone just gives you the most tank-like feel, turn on Rooted (or Granite Armor once you have it) and slowly but surely you just roll over everyone and everything in the way, like an unstoppable wall of dark fury consuming everything in its path.

As far as I'm concerned the best and most uptodate guides are right here on the forums.* Sure the search engine sucks, and sure there's a lot of misinformation... there's also whining and doom calling... people also can be rude sometimes... um, why am I not buying these again? j/k (or am I
)
Seriously though, I much rather get info from these forums than some $30 binder.
*So do I get a cookie for kissing [censored] to the entire forum population? -

EDIT: If you're in CoV beta, beware of the CoH test server! See Test forum for instructions on how to NOT overwrite your CoV test folder.

Who has time for CoH Test server?! CoV beta is now open 24/7 I'm never leaving my chair again.

Not exactly a revelation but if they make it enhancable, that'll mean that those auto powers could be slotted 3/3 which will mean no wasted slots.

I just had to comment on this Burn-related argument.
[ QUOTE ]
Burn was ridiculously overpowered in my opinion and was desperately in need of a hardcore nerfing.
[/ QUOTE ]
You obviously haven't played a fire tank in a while Katahn, or else you wouldn't be making such statements. Was burn overpowered "once upon a time"? Yes. Was it overpowered in I4? No. At the most it needed a slight trim, and it wasn't any more "overpowered" than a dozen of other powers for various powersets. In I5 burn is almost as useless as temperature protection - I don't want to burden any controllers by asking them to time their holds with my burn patches, and without holds only thing burn good for is making pretty fire.
The only thing that made fire tanks different, their offensive capabilities, have been taken away from us. -
Well, I can't say I'm 100% happy with I5, in particular I still cannot for the life of me understand why burn was neutered, yes not just nerfed, neutered. And don't get me even started on supression (not exactly I5 issue but I'm still pissed about it). Nevertheless, majority of the changes are great - Croatoa and all the new mobs that come with it, as well as the pet changes, and some other things. I do hope that you guys are done with the nerfing, I don't think any ATs can take any more of it.
-
Why is there a need for this anyway?? I mean it's not like we don't have extra influence floating around - we need a good money sink. Plus, since we probably won't be able to trade Prestige, it means that SG's won't be able to help each other - "great way to emphasize" the spirit of cooperation that heroes share.
-
I got a new question. There's a CoV available at Amazon.com, however it doesn't specifically say pre-order - does that mean it's not, i.e. it's just a way to "reserve" CoV, or is it just that amazon doesn't specifically write pre-order but if I order this item it'll be like getting pre-order?
(Heh, I'm not sure if that sentence made sense)
And if it's in fact not pre-order then the next question is, does amazon do pre-order deals in general?
kthxbye -
That the collector's edition will contain all 7 HeroClix figures including one unique has been confirmed by the devs, I don't have a link but I suspect if you go through Clintonian's primer you'll find it.

Why gender specific costume pieces?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it is called Helm of the Blood Widows, would be kinda silly for male characters to wear'em. And yeah I know you could change the name, but I personally don't have problem w/ some gender specific stuff as long as there are equivalents for the other gender and in general more variety. It's not so much the lack of shoulder kitties that bugs me as the lack of any shoulder animal for males, I mean, why can't we get like a parrot or a crow or something.
