Honestly...the only comment I have for this particular power-set is the sound effect. Things like Sonic Shriek don't sound like a shriek. It sounds like two sounds already in the game mixed together. I'd like to see something along the lines of Black Canary from Justice League Unlimited (the tv show) only maybe toned down just a LITTLE so it doesn't become repetitive and annoying.

But yeah...it was the first thing I noticed and STILL bugs me...the sound doesn't make it feel very "sonicy"

I'd also like to see the bad guys respond accordingly...grabbing their ears with their palms and covering them as they appear to be in massive pain from the sonic attack.

I would standardize the sounds ... "voices" a little more...
the first power sounds like it's coming out of a gun... not very vocal... and the growling kinda forces a theme on you

The sounds were a complete letdown.

I really didnt have much problem with the sounds of the sets. My only problem is with the buffs in general. I mean to say do we Really need another bubbler? I have tried to play a bubbler but I found it to be a very boring set. I mean after you toss out all the bubbles you just chill. Not very proactive=boring. All IMHO

Overall I like the set.

I enjoy the sounds and I like the animations.

I enjoy it, but compared to Archery it feels much more powerful with less of an endurance cost.

Cheers!

I was looking forward to this set since it was announced. I like the animations and will probably use it to make a blaster when it hits live. My only complaint is that the first blasts all sound "male" so far. That didn't sound very good on the female hero I made, although the howl worked very well.

In discussions with my friends, they feel it might be a bit too powerful because of the resistance debuff. I personally like it and wouldn't change it, but I can see where they are coming from. That much debuff might be too powerful if in a group situation.

Mr Slowburn - 50 fire/kin troller
Cosmic - 50 grav/storm troller
Cyberprowl - 50 ma/dark scrapper
Mi-graine - 50 emp/psi defender
Alberta Beef - 50 fire/ice tank
Mythtery - 41 ill/rad troller
Gargantua - 39 ws
Kotor - 38 db/wp scrapper

Fungal - 50 plant/psi dom
Snarky - 38 thug/dark MM

Haven't played the set up very high yet, but it seems that the -res debuff is a bit overboard. Each hit seems to do about -17% res, or roughly +20% damage for the first debuff applied (defender version). With no enhancements at all the difference is quite noticeable, and it lasts long enough to stack at least two (possibly 3) debuffs. Id imagine with SOs, the gain from stacking debuffs would be balance wrecking (six slotted with damage SOs would be 300% original damage. One sonic debuff would enhance that by 20% of 300%, or 60%, almost two damage SOs more. And they stack.)

And that doesnt even brush on the 'all sonic' teams that are going to (already have) cropped up.

Either the sonic debuff % needs to come waaay down (5%, and even then it can be abused) or the debuff needs to be non-stackable.

Sometimes the enemy is so swift and the path so treacherous that you can run no further.
It is then that you must turn and resolve to fight
and in all likelihood die horribly
but you never know when you are going to get lucky, so go for it!

I love the animations and activate times. Its a fast paced, high damage set. They should change the some of the sound effects though. Shriek sounds like more of a whisper, and howl sounds like a werewolf. Maybe add in some *new* sound effects to go with the new set.

Great set! I am wondering if they are going to "push" anyone with the set to 50 so they have the abilty to test all the powers?

Good set.
I really don't think it is too powerful, especially with the many short ranged attacks, and no snipe attack.
Sounds could use some work, especially for females.

The cone animations are good, but the first two power's animations are weak.
Perhaps they should use the cupped hands around mouth animation.

This is a fun set to play. (Only to 6 so far, but I have really enjoyed it.) The sounds could use some work, but I like the animations and with the debuff, it's awesome. I am afraid you will tweak it down in dmg before going live tho.

I really like this set myself. Levelled up to 8 and I've been able to try out the first 5 blasts in the set . Sound-wise the only power I have any real issue with is "Shout" the 5th power in the set. The reverb on it just seems to last way to long and get's annoying really quickly

The set itself also seems to have the most useful secondary effect of any blast powers (well...that a blaster can take anyways) and I'd like to see it stay as-is. Overall I will agree that it seems really powerful in the lower levels compared with the other sets, but this may even out in the higher levels as the amount of foes with smash resist increases.

Just to jump on the bandwagon - There needs to be a female set of sound FX though .

First, the name. If it was Sonic Blast, that would be fine. Not original, but at least in line with the other similar sets. Unfortunately the name is Sonic Attacks and that just won't do. Sonic Blast is okay, using one of the many good synonyms for Sonic/Sound would be even better.

Howl is described incorrectly in different places, in fact it is described incorrectly in different ways in different places.

I would have liked to have seen a new damage type: Sonic. Smashing is so universally defended and resisted, that will make this set less popular in the long run.

That sums up my opinion on sonics. Also, why isn't there a secondary for this? Try to imagine Banshee from Xmen with gadgets or an ice sword. Pretty lame.

Maybe I am just a purist, but when you say I can make a sonics character, I WANT TO MAKE A SONIC CHARACTER. Not a sonics/flame sword person.

Just my opinion.

The description on the cone attack (third attack) is inaccurate. It says High damage when it is more like Low (same damage as the first attack).

The Defender version seems to do a lot of damage early on. I don't know how well it scales later on though.

I take an issue with the sounds as well, they need to be more androgynous, or perhaps differentiate by the hero set you have.

However, and perhaps more importantly, the damage resistance debuff is simply too powerful.

The larger the group, the more sonics there are, the more destructive you become, especially since the damage debuffs from multiple persons and multiple powers stack.

A reasonable alternative might be to increase the sonic debuff, but prevent stacking of damage resistance debuffs.

Some of the sound effects are a bit aggrevating, I'd also like to see different animations for the first 3 single target powers. The first two are identicle, the third is almost the same.

I hate to say it, but if you are going to balance this power, do so now. In relation to Archery it is hands down the best Blast set for Defenders in the game. The damage is good, the side effect is good and the low endurance usage is better. It is very likeable and has great potential.

After playing a sonic/sonic up to lvl 8 on test I believe the first two powers in the attack set for defenders is doing blaster damage. I can't be entirely sure as I couldn't get back on test earlier today to roll up a blaster, but the damage is definitely higher than my trick/archery partner. And I'm talking base damage here, not after the -res.

I really enjoyed this set, except for the sounds, which really should be the most important part of a sonic set.

Please consider giving the females more feminine sounding effects. The second attack sounds like they used the male Tarzan sound and raised it an octave or two. Do that with the female Tarzan sound, for example, for the female version, and that power would be set.

Similarly, the Howl doesn't quite sound right coming from a person's mouth, nor does it sound particularly harmful. The character animation brought an opera singer to mind, perhaps you might consider a sound similar to the end of a particular Looney Tunes episode, where Bugs Bunny forces an opera singer to maintain a single note that winds up bringing the auditorium down on his head. Obviously the female sound would be more feminine sounding (and likely higher pitched). Try not to dwell on the fact that it comes from Looney Tunes, the sound was very professional.

This is, of course, entirely subjective, and may not be liked by most people either. I just feel the wolf howl is very out of place.

The graphic effects are perfect, I feel, and most of the animations are satisfactory, or great (I really like the Howl animation itself).

I like the set. Soloing, the powers are about where a blaster set should be, at least for the first 10 levels. Good damage, fast attacks, and a wonderful secondary effect.

It's that secondary effect that worries me. It's good. Very good. And we've seen what happens to "very good" powers and powersets. I'd say just cap the -res somewhere along the line, so that a person never takes more than, say, 200% of the original damage total. That's 10 or so stacked sonic debuffs, or 6-7 tar patches. The way it is now, stacking res debuffs can build up to some amazing damage numbers quickly.

The sounds are weak and irritating.

The graphics of the buffs is HORRIBLE, not to mention that it causes graphic lag. But it just looks like a mistake.

It's essentially another bubble set. Can't you come up with something different? Maybe buff different things? Provide protection not available or partially available in other sets.

And once again you are hurting yourself to not be able to build an all sonic blaster.
