Can't believe it has been that long. Though I don't play as much as I used too, it is not any faults of the game.
The community is really what has kept me here for 66+ months. Such a great group of people involved with this game. -
They should either remove TA from the game or give it a healing arrow. As it stands it is useless to teams.
And yes Bio the defender inherent should be a side-kick they just runs Healing Aura on auto. Then defenders other than Empathy would be useful. I knew you would see it my way. -
Defenders can't solo. They are there to heal the team, when not teamed they should roam around and heal people street sweeping.
-
No, it's true. Empathy does suck. Suckiest power set to ever suck. I got to go my damn sucky girlfriend is calling.

Was good fun! I had only ever done the first mission solo before to fight myself. Was a fun series of missions and a good challenge. Was surprised my squishy tank held up as well as he did, was expecting many more wipes.

Best of luck AC. I know we have had our differences many times, but it happens on the interwebs.
My college advice: Get involved with campus groups/activites. Don't waste all your time partying. Don't get my wrong, partying is great, but I always wished I had got more involved in campus events, and groups. Not frats, but charitable, political, sports, etc. -
Quote:Thanks Moggie. I will pass on the scorpion lol I don't think my kitties and fish will want to play with him.I don't have any money but I can mail you a scorpion if you want one...
Seriously, this is an excellent cause and I wish you all the best. Crohn's is a scary scary thing and any one who is helping to get more research done is a true hero in my book.
I appreciate the moral support though! I am going to need all I can get to muscle through 13.1 miles of Las Vegas. -
Thank you all for your support. It is really appreciated. All support helps me train and reach my goal, so it is all appreciated.

This is not really the forum section for this, and will probably be yanked, but I can use all the help I can get. So until then I thought I would reach out to a community I have been a part of for 4+ years.
I have recently decided to take on a new challenge that will require much dedication, determination and perseverance. I can hardly believe it, but I have decided to run my first half marathon (13.1 miles).
As I am sure I have shocked many of you, I will be completing the 13.1 mile race to raise funds and awareness for research leading to a cure for Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis. Over the next 4 months I will be pounding the pavement, running and raising funds to find a cure for this disease. I am one of over 1 million Americans suffering from Crohn's Disease or Colitis. At the age of 16, I became very ill and lost 25 pounds in less than 6 weeks. I spent time in the hospital and was finally diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I have experienced chronic pain every day since and am now 31 years old. I will have Crohn's disease for the rest of my life, as there is currently no cure. The available treatments can, at best, only mask the symptoms of this disease. Every day is a challenge, but with your donations we can make a difference for millions of sufferers of all ages and races.
Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. The cause of IBD remains unknown. However, the effectiveness of recently developed treatment methods and steady advances in research brings us closer every day to finding the cause and probable cure of Crohns and ulcerative colitis.
My goal is to raise $2800 for Team Challenge and the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America, as well as finish the race in one piece. Over 80% of every dollar I raise will directly fund the mission of CCFA, to cure Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by inflammatory bowel disease.
I have made a commitment to run this half marathon and bring us 13.1 miles closer to providing hope and freedom to individuals battling IBD. I am hopeful you will join me in the fight against Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis.
You can help by visiting my webpage at:

and donating generously to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America. Please make donations by October 15th, my personal fundraising deadline.
You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email (which you can use for your taxes) and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation.
OR send a check payable to CCFA with my name in the memo!

On behalf of the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America, thank you very much for your support. I greatly appreciate your generosity.
P.S. I would appreciate it if you would forward this email to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well. Thanks again
With gratitude and appreciation,
Chris Auger

Quote:Agreed, my defenders support by shooting things in the face so they can't shot my mates. As I posted before, Defenders are a SUPPORT class, vague as it is, it applies more than Defender.
In fact all of my characters support the team in a similar way. Or were you referring to support as babysitting a team? -
Quote:Well when the ultimate goal is to defeat an enemy then I guess I mean damage. When solo I can sure lock down and debuff a huge group, but trying to kill them takes a long time.If by powerful you mean damage, then I could get on board for that. There's a reason I didn't solo the build until 32. In terms of actual power though, I've had defenders admit they were bored on the teams I was on because I was bringing so much mitigation. One Emp even said they were going to reroll.
Same goes for my Grav/Ta. Can lock down and debuff everything, but killing anything without vet powers consists of spamming propel, aoe immob. a billion times, with oil slick every other group.
Once epics come into play then the game changes. Being able to hit those big locked down groups with something like Fireball is pretty darn fun. -

The hard part is going to be determining what is acceptable for a time to 50. I think it really varies from person to person.
My first Empath to 50 took me 408 hours. My second took me about 150. Both were done with a mix of solo and teaming. As I figured out what I was doing and how to solo a bit better my times and survivability increased.
Again something that could skew a vets view point. I personally think Empathy is fine as is, but I might have a personal bias after spending so much time with the set even to the point of starting an Empathy Offender SG.
Don't think there is a clear number of what is acceptable solo. -
Quote:Thanks Hobo,
Yeah Electric has that reputation, from what I can gather.
Personally, I have always liked how it looks, but it really lacks a decent third ST attack.
I also like the versatility of Ball Lightning.
Ya, I wanted to like it. It looks cool, but it just felt like it was lacking something. Maybe it was the extra ST attack. -
Best of luck. My Emp/Dark was mostly solo, my Emp/Rad was half and half.
Not sure I could do it with Elec. Had an Rad/Elec at one time and Elec just felt really lacking. -
Quote:One should assume the role when there's plenty of damage on a team. You're job is to heal when its needed. I understand you made a bubbler or a Rad and deemed yourself a "buffer" to be different. In the end you're either a buffer or a healer. Let's not try act like MMo's don't need "healers", thats just erroneous.
MMO's, specifically CoX does not need "healers". If there is damage on a team I am going to add more. I am not going to stand in the corner waiting for people to take damage to play health bar whack-a-mole. That is not my job.
My job is to have fun. Fun in a game that is not rocket surgery and does not require any special AT to accomplish just about everything in the game outside of a Hami raid.
What about TA? It is neither a "healer" or "buffer" -
Quote:Everything is not to hard and broken, its (gone) to the Americans.
I kind of like that scrappers may be defendering better than my defenders scrapering and controllers can be controllering more than my tankers tankering while my Warshades are not as shady as my Blasters. Who might I add are bringyer than my Peacebringers, but Peacebringers are balanced at Blastering.
Now we just need more defenders blastering better than Peacebringers tankering, while defendering better than Masterminds.
Ya, but Masterminding is hard for defenders. -
Hobo Healer- Emp/Dark 50
Hobo Healer- Emp/Rad 50
That is it. I have/had many up to the 30's, but they are all gathering dust and really don't deserve any mention. -
-
Quote:Defenders need to be buffed to solo Hami. They are too weak now. I am sick of scrappers defendering better than my defenders scrapering and I am sick of controllers controllering more than my tankers tankering while my Warshades are not as shady as my Blasters. Who might I add are bringyer than my Peacebringers, but Peacebringers are balanced at Blastering.I totally agree.
They would be fine with 23% more base damage and scrapper level HPs too.
They should just redo this entire game. Everything is to hard and broken. -
Quote:I think it depends on the controller. One thing that comes to my mind is this.
Take a controller out and try to defeat a spawn using only your primary set.
Then take a Defender out and try the same using only your blasts.
The controller will be complete and fully capable of soloing, while the Defender will be in serious need of His Primary in order to compete.
My Earth/Storm (37) and Grav/TA (46) are slow as dirt solo and need to use every possible power including three vet powers to get through anything.
My Ill/Kin (50) tore through groups solo, but not until it got into his epic and loaded him with set IO's.
Before that it was dinking 1 enemy at a time, no AOE's available. -
Defenders are fine. Why? Because I say so.
-
Quote:Is that a hint, Hobo? :-)
I have plans for that windfall. Lots and lots of IO sets for my Ice/Rad controller. LOTS.
Good to see a discussion going on about the market, hope things are being cleared up rather than muddied.
No not at all. I have several characters in the 100+ zone so I have the cash to spare. And I don't use set IO's on most of my characters, just common IO's. -
Quote:Ahhh OK.I'm thinking that it exists in it's own little pocket universe and ignores all possible rules of the actual geography, and that it's really best not to think about where it's supposed to be, because that changes depending on the day of the week. The Simpsons thing was a bit of a joke, but the more I think about it, Lex is a lot like Monty Burns...
Bit of a Simpsons fan boi so was a little confused.
