Woohoo! I really can't over-state the importance of this one feature. So many perceived problems will fade into history.

Not sure why a slider would be necessary, unless you want to make mission difficulty more dynamic than it needs to be ... I always preferred the idea of a one-time selection of difficulty when you receive a mission. The more elaborate slider version promises finer control, but would undoubtedly take longer to implement.

But hey, right now just knowing it's on the horizon somewhere is great news. Everything else is just implementation details.

i would stop missions alltogether if they had blues and greens...what a complete waste of time...for some one like you i suggest you just stay in certain zones that are BELOW you...then you will always kill everything with no risk...

STATESMAN -- i think the real solution is to make the contacts decide difficulty...just add many new contacts -- each would give out a different level of missions - Teddy Bear, Soccer Mom and Hero...that way all missions would be at a comfortable level for the player...they could even mix and match them depending on the villians and the role players would eat that up... the payouts, INFLUENCE and rewards should be reduced on low end missions...

Statesman please dont cater to the mediocre. Aside from the Rikti sword and stun bug, this has to be the best second publish i have seen in a very very long time....this was equivalant to the 6 month update in most other games! Many Many of us where having FUN as opposed to just mindless grinding...People actually wanted to do missions as opposed to street cleaning.

And to a lot of the LOWBIES complaining...the early missions have always been hard...your powers SUCK....i used to have to run out while fighting bosses and buy more INSPs and get back before he healed...sometimes several times

The higher people who where complaining just didnt have time to adjust...their usual spam attack wasnt as effective...given anotehr few days people would have adapted --- lol --- it was really hard for the blasters to actually let us tanks and scrappers kill things....but after getting killed a few times drawing the agrro some of them relented

Statesman, please please reconsider. Your changes are going to nerf blasters in a way that will fundamentally change the AOE blaster's way of gameplay. You're making minions tougher and also going to nerf AOE... we blasters already feel the burn from update 2; is there really call for making us weaker? This change wont make the game 'challenging' in a good way, rather it will make gameplay more frustrating. Please reconsider. Surely there are other ways to 'fix' the game's difficulty post 30?

I just want one thing. No red bosses in my solo missions. That's all. Everything else can stay. I just do not want to have to team at the end of every mission I take. Well that, and I do not want to have to build my characters in a certain precise way for them to be effective at all.

Other than that I love the game. Fix that and I will continue to be happy because right now, the red boss thing has me very frustrated. They aren't impossible, but they are harder than I have time to deal with some nights.

level 36 claws/SR scrapper here. I can still solo the new missions, so keep that in mind with this post, as many AT's can't solo them anymore, who could before.

Yes the +1 minion, lietenants and bosses in missions now makes it more challenging. However it also makes missions take 2-3X as long and with a much greater risk of death. That equals a new time sink for many people. A GREAT appeal of this game to me is the ability to log on for 30 minutes or an hour, do 2-3 missions and log off to get back to real life duties. Yes many people do this. This ability has been drastically altered by the last patch. Now with a shorter play period I no longer am sure that I will be able to complete a mssion, and may very likely, if I try to rush, will encounter debt which further slows me. Thus when I am deciding what to do with that 1 hr I have on an evening, it is easier to say...well guess I will do something else. Don't need the frustration.

For the powergamers, the people with "skills" (which I always laugh at ....yes there are many of you who punch buttons better than me ) This is not an issue. The Devs have realized this is an important issue for many people, and thus the plans to make mission changes again. For uber-gamers who want more "challenge", I don't want the game I loved prior to patch 2 destroyed just so you can say "yeah, I defeated 100 purple minions solo in this mission with my uber build. I am so much better than you"

In the grand scheme of things, none of this is world changing. My baby still wakes up twice a night whether I play this game or not. But I did wish to express my opinion about how I have enjoyed the game, and how my gameplay experience has been altered since the patch. I fully understand that is part of playing a MMORPG, but the devs also understand that too much change can cause people to choose other entertainment options.

I'm a blaster, so I don't mind the +1 minions so much, adds a bit of spice to the soup so to speak.

But you know what DOES bug me? You get a "Stop gang leaders" mission and there's TWO red bosses at the end.... ugh, that was painful. (I managed it, but it was frustrating)

Not to mention that one was a Freakshow tank so I had to kill him twice....


So I say, leave in a spattering of yellows to make things interesting but let's not go crazy with the reds, eh?

And hurry up on that difficulty slider!

Actually, in the low end (leveled 1 to 13 since update 2) +1 minions can be fun and great xp for some AT's, but the +1 bosses and LT's are a problem for me.

Ironically, my original post said something along the lines of "I approve of this thread," and didn't realize until after I'd posted that the "a really old thread" tag existed. So of course I had to do a ninja edit to my post to bring it to its current version.
