  2. Here's what I'm using on Live:

    Energy: 56.1%
    S/L: 49.7%
    Negative: 46.3%
    F/C: 45.1%

Only having 52% Def Debuff Resist is kind of painful, but pretty much completely ignoring the slow from caltrops, quicksand, etc is pretty funny.

  3. Mace/SD all the way. You are not being misled, it is awesome on an epic scale. Put a Chance for +Recharge IO in Crowd Control for extra lulz. >.>
  4. I keep seeing this claim that Spring Attack is just so weak, but I'm not really seeing it. I already want Combat Jumping on most builds, and SJ is fine for a travel power if I want one so it's not like I'm blowing extra powers really.

Mids tells me that the base damage of Spring Attack on a scrapper is 108.2, and that Shield Charge is 127.8. After IOs, I'm seeing 228.8 damage on Spring Attack and 274.9 on SC. Yeah, SC is more, but it's not so overwhelmingly more that Spring Attack isn't still good enough. Especially since if you're going Elec/Shield you're clearly in love with TELESMASH. Or SMASHPORT. Whichever you like. Shield Charge is just more of the same.

Doubling up LR+SC means there's like 25 whole seconds where you're not teleporting in to crush your enemies, and on a team that can feel like ages!

Anyway, I'm working on an Elec/Shield/Soul scrapper. 48%ish to all positionals, with Shadow Meld adding another 30% for 15 out of every 30 seconds just to really push over the edge created by how accurate stuff in Incarnate trials is.

    Role Playing lolz
Right, which is sort of my issue. I get that, and for the most part, it's fine. If someone wants to color their ice shields red and role play that they're using SPIRIT RUBIES or whatever, more power to them. If the natural martial artist wants to (and should, because wow) ignore the name of the SO enhancements they use, okay. Those bits have always been sort of fiddly to begin with, and aren't really attached to active elements of the game. One person's cryokinetic is another's ice demon is another's blah blah blah.

But the Incarnate content is part of the setting and story. I also get that there are role players who hate it, but honestly I don't really empathize. City is a living breathing world of its own, that you are playing in. Asking them to change the Lore pets so you can pretend they aren't what they are is like asking them to remove specific mention of city names in NPC text so you can pretend you're running around Metropolis, because you don't like the setting the game provides so want to RP something different.

When you're getting a Lore pet, what you're getting is the in-game ability to do X, within the specific setting and theme elements of the Incarnate story being told by the writers and developers. You're not calling in reinforcements, you're not calling in favors. If you want to ignore the actual story being told which those powers are a part of, go you, but asking the developers to strip the specific rewards of that story of the thematic elements of that story to facilitate your RP is just... bleh. I don't get that mindset.

It'd be like asking for the ability to rename temp powers because you want the benefits of the Wedding Band, but your character has a major phobia about rings. At some point your role play has to actually connect with and allow for the specific elements of the setting you're playing in, and if you can't do that, I don't really see why the developers should cater to you.
  9. I don't really get the requests for them to make the Lore pets not look like what they are, or to support folks pretending they're whatever their concept would have them be.

I mean, I understand what the requests are, it just seems poor form to me. While City of H/V allows for a lot of leeway in terms of concepts, it's still a world itself with relatively static elements that make up its story.

It just comes off like "Well I know I just did a mission _for a scientist_ who gave me a _tech based weapon as a reward_, but could you make it look like a magic wand since my character wouldn't use technology?"

If you want to pretend that your Lore pets don't come from the Well, more power to you, but asking them to devote any amount of development time so that you can ignore the game world they're putting development time into creating just seems off to me.

    Crab Backpack?

Ah, thanks, EG. I made two entirely different SoAs so I could play with a crab build and not worry about it, so it never came up for me.
  12. Barbie_Ink

    Buffers rejoice!

I believe THEY have to talk to Null, who turns off such effects for THEM. The buffer isn't the one who has to talk to Null. I don't believe there's any way to make your own powers not work on others like that.

But really, if they have an issue, it's their responsibility to go use the fix.
  13. Barbie_Ink

    Crab Backpack?

Yeah, once you go Crab, you never go back. :/

I'm pretty sure if you ever take crab powers for any reason you're stuck with the backpack in any build. I don't think a full respec even gets rid of them, which is... pretty dumb.
  14. I think it's ~44mph before set bonuses.
  15. Elec/Fire isn't going to be a very efficient farmer. Too little aoe on too long a timer. Lightning Rod is cool, but the recharge is way too long, and the radius 7 on Thunder Strike is a bit too small for my tastes.

There's reasons people do SS/Fire and Fire/Fire for their farming needs.
  16. Judging from your listed build, money isn't really an issue. That said, you're mostly wasting your time with all the S/L. If all the enemies you're facing will have fire as at least one component of their damage, screw S/L defense, just focus on Fire defense. That is, as long as you'll always have one dead lowbie to push Vengeance off of. Veng will require a couple more slots for Membranes, but you can spare them in a few places by skipping focus on the S/L Defense.

Gotta go see X-Men, will peek back in later.
  17. I can't get your second build to load into Mids, keeps giving me errors about not being able to read the stream or something. The first one imports fine, so I don't think it's a problem with my mids, though I did make sure it's up to date.
  18. I'm working on a DB/SR build right now, and I'll put up the mids data link for what I'm going for below.

Defenses aren't as insane as I'd like, but are well over the regular defense cap (all over 50% with suppressed Hide), a self-heal that recharges in 8 seconds and heals for nearly 40% of hp, 3.4/s endurance recovery, and 1400hp. I've taken all of the attacks from the primary set, because I sort of like having the option for any of the combos, but it took a bit to work out a tray setup that let me get all the powers onto one tray in an order where the combos flow into one another.

I dunno if your wife's account has Ninja Run (or Beast Run I guess), but while the build lacks a 'real' travel power, with Ninja Run and Sprint going speed is just over 77mph. Unslotted Super Speed is 70mph. ;D

If she doesn't care about the speed so much, move the extra slot from Sprint, Swift, and Quickness to wherever you like. I know it seems like silly places to waste slots, but honestly where else would you put them in a build where all the attacks are already six slotted and the defenses already maxed? The passives could take another slot each, but it was only a difference of like 2% to already over softcap positions, and 1% to DDR each. I could have gone for another set bonus somewhere, but meh, I wanted to run around at SS speeds minus the glowy feet.

    Anyway, data chunk here:

  19. The +End proc works on the target of the end mod effect.

So if you put it in a power that does -end to enemies, it will have a chance to give them +end. If you put it in a power that only does DAMAGE to enemies, but gives you end, it'll proc on you. Such as been my experience with Consume.
  20. > Does a Kheldian bring anything to a team?

Stupid amounts of knockback, if we're talking about PBs. I still can't get over their Footstomp clone(ish) having kb instead of kd.
  21. People have been saying that for many, many years now. You might as well say don't count on CoH being around forever, they'll have to shut it down some day so might as well save yourself the sub cost. It's true, sure, but there's really no reason to believe it'll happen any time soon. The issue has been noted in the past by Devs as 'unintended but in a non-priority', as its overall impact on the game is trivial at best.
  22. *facepalm*

I'll take the car that runs, and pretty well, even if it looks worn down. Especially over the shiny red convertible that, while it may get you to your destination eventually, will try to run you off the road and stall out at every possible occasion.
  23. Dark Miasma is good with virtually anything, and Dark Pit + Howling Twilight works for you as a solo aoe stun, with HT being also good on a team for team rez. Tar Patch + Tentacles + Nightfall = decent aoe damage for mowing through solo mobs. Pick up the self rez in one of the epics and you've got a TPK Recovery kit (self rez, then team rez).

Radiation Emission is likewise good, with -def and -tohit to go with making things easier to hit with your Dark Blast and its -tohit. Plus... you know. It's Radiation Emission.

Neither has to deal with any single target team buffs, which is a plus in my opinion.
  24. Larker: I seriously hope you get stuck on nothing but teams full of scrappers who don't take any of their armor powers because LOL MY JOB IS DAMAGE IM NOT A TANKER LOL.

If I found out I'd invited a MM with buffs who only used them on their pets, I'd boot them posthaste, just for being a selfish jerk. Just like, say, the Radiation Corruptor I found out was deliberately running away from the team before using Accelerate Metabolism because 'my character is selfish and greedy and shares nothing with anyone!'. Boot to the head (and off the team).

If it was a /FF MM who didn't take any of the team shields... enh. If they were a friend I might let it pass, and if I'd mistakenly hit them with an invite before realizing it, I might not kick em, but if I saw it first I wouldn't invite them to begin with.
