An unexpected, but welcome buff to Forcefields. I'm looking forward to it.

If it is just what it says it is, purely for convenience? I love it. If it comes with a corresponding reduction in power, I'm less happy. Fingers crossed though, this strikes me as a purely QoL feature. Having powers balanced around how tedious is is to maintain them is lame.

So, colour me cautiously optimistic.

Unlikely that there would a power reduction, since I don't think the devs want the destiny buffs to overpower buff sets anymore than they do. Also, you can't buff yourself, and no endurance increase: link

I am curious about increase density though. The devs seem to have decided that it's smash/lethal resistance, not mez protection...and AoE mez protection that can be stacked for massive magnitude might be overpowered (thus why I suspect clear mind, thaw, and clarity aren't on the list). I just hope they don't remove the stacking protection as a result. It does make ID viable as a resistance granting power though.

Veeeeeeeeeeery interesting. I like it. I wonder if they're also increasing recharge though, since no mention of that in the post. If it buffs everyone in a 30ft radius you don't really need the powers to recharge in a second or two, but it'd be nice if they kept the old recharges.

My FF defender is my primary MSR character... I take a certain pride in being able to keep everyone involved shielded on our raids.

While this AoE buffing things will certainly make it much, much easier to keep everyone who hangs around in the bowl with the squishies bubbled, it's going to put me back in pre-league-interface hell when it comes to keeping shields on the "away teams" who are up on the rim (or beyond-) most of the time. The only way I'll be able to keep up with who got bubbles and who missed out when the AoE went off is by trying to eyeball it... or keeping buff bars up on the whole darn league.

That's going to be a mess.

... Really?

One the on hand that's kinda awesome, but on the other hand increase density!? I thought prop 19 failed.

It would be nice to be able to deactivate or halve the speed increase - and have that be controllable on a person-by-person basis from the recipient's end. On my Stormie, I love the End given because it lets me continue to wreak havoc with impunity. The speed increase, however, can be frustrating when it screws with the finesse of properly manipulating mobs (often on cramped maps or in places where spawns are in extreme proximity to one another).

Just to clarify, redname has confirmed that these changes come with no change in the endurance cost of the powers (and presumably no change in the recharge either). It is a straight-up QoL improvement.

I am grinning ear to ear right now. My Sonic/Sonic Defender had already become my favorite character, and now I can spend less of my time clicking buffs and more of my time dispensing sweet, sweet high-decibel justice.

oh joy.... sweet news, this is a much need boost to buffers.

I like SB. I'm not particularly fond of stacked SB, especially if it happens on the Lambda trial but I'll survive.

I shudder at the idea of SBed Imps / Gremlins / Ninjas / Zombies / Arsonists, especially given the current state of pet AI.

I wonder how long it's going to take them to spot Power Boost and Forcefields?

In the linked above, it already states that they won't get it. However, I do see a lot of people complaining about it too.

I'm definitely rating this game for 3 year olds now.

There is painfully hard and then there is painfully easy.

Now I just think favourable powersets for speed, ganking and spanking are just going to be even more favourable.

well, you can always drop your subscription and go away.

Maybe that would help you feel better.

There is more to playing a game than the challenge of it all because people are on it and sometimes people make it challenging.

Can always up the settings.

It'd be nice if they made it so that you could remove a buff you didn't want by right clicking on it or something... then the people who can't deal with speed boost can remove it.

Overall though, fantastic change. I am very impressed.

It's not much consolation, but on my stormies, recipients of speed boost, I usually take hover to deal with the extra speed and the need for control and finesse in hurricane usage.

I also use hover for lightning storm placement. Sometimes the bolts do better coming from 15 feet up.

I'll be more forecoming on why I am slightly annoyed. I play all them powersets getting a buff but at the same time I play all the other powersets not getting a buff.

It maybe a good buff for people with bad eyesight who struggle with reading the icons next to peoples names; lazy people or people with a concept this buff works for etc but I see it as a nerf in the value of the other sets not getting a buff of equal value.

Sonic I have long thought lacked something and with Kins ID that was a funless chore to proactively keep going but the rest of it doesn't "need" a change. If other powersets get a buff of equal value then I got less to gripe about, I dislike getting on one toon I fancy having fun with one day and having someone ask me to get that other toon I got for easy mode.

The hover idea is brilliant! I love it!

To me, this change, while welcome in general, represents a couple more nails in FF's coffin in particular.

FF's peculiar niche is damage mitigation and AoE mez protection, with a side of direct damage (but, of course, defenders already have a secondary for that). FF's ability to mitigate damage with distance is, at best, problematic, and, at worst, counter-productive (Det. Field is an oddity -- it was a throwaway power added late in beta to replace a third +def ST buff).

What we've been seeing for years is an increase in the number of +def / +res buffs (Sonic, Thermal, Cold, Traps), a system that makes it easy (bordering on trivial) for melee toons to soft-cap defense (Inventions), an increase in AoE mez protection (Traps, Sonic), Barrier, and now ID becomes AoE.

FF's niche of providing protection + mez protection has been eroded, nearly into irrelevance.

Something's gotta give, and Repulsion Bomb, simply, doesn't make FF stand out from the increasingly crowded field of buffers.
