TSW refugee migration

So far I've met two "undesirables", one who propositioned me for sex (promptly reported to a GM. First time in *any* game that has happened), and the other who was basically calling all of us noobs during my first, failed, attempt at a Polaris run.

There seems to be a dire lack of EU based players, as it seems so bloody quiet when I'm usually on.

Overall, once my current sub runs out (thats the other thing - how on Earth do you actually cancel recurrent billing? I couldn't find anything on the account page), I'm honestly unsure whether I'll stay. Shame really, as I feel the game has potential.
+1

I'm reluctant to resub for another month due to the lack of teaming opportunities as well.

Great looking game but it feels like a single player game to me right now.

I am always duoed with the significant other, so I never really feel alone... but if I wanted, I do see a large number of folks running around so I could team if I so wanted. Though, honestly, I almost always soloed in CoH at the end as well, so I doubt I would team much in TSW either.

Toss out messages in the CoH Chat that you want to team, usually there is someone around who wouldn't mind obliging. *shrug* Just like in CoH teaming is what you make of it.

Throwing my name in the hat for "give me a shout in coh-refugees" if you need a team and I'm online.

I've got my Lumi Synner for high end stuff (she's a little... exuberant damage-wise for lower geared/skilled tanks and healers ) or my Templar DeeAy for mid-range stuff (circa Egypt) or my Dragon Dominique for lowbie stuff (she hasn't even left kingsmouth yet).

Also: ye gods I wish they'd implement some kind of global handle system in TSW.

I'd like that, too, but I thought that not having one isn't that bad either from an 'RP' standpoint. My main is a Lumie and I have a great cabal. If I decide to play either my Templar or Dragon, I won't feel like I am cheating on my fellow Lumies because they can't see I am playing for the other team(s).

But then again, I've been playing for the other team all my life.

My husband and I are in the same cabal (just recently joined). I do have to say that it is nice to play with such a helpful and fun group of people.

You folks probably have never heard of me (I'm one of the quiet one you're supposed to watch out for; it's always one of us), but I used to Stalk on Union

Anyway, I've made the jump into TSW and the water is lovely; I play a Lumie called HellDark on the Arcadia server. I'm no expert, but I have started doing the Elite Dungeons, so if anyone wants help with teaming the normal dungeons, feel free to look me up, I'm on most evenings (GMT) and randomly at weekends.

See you in Hell!

It might help if there were some cabals that were set up by CoX refugees and former players - are there any?

Also, I'm still on the Solomon Island, currently Blue Mountain area. The place seems to drag on for an age. Please tell me that once you leave the Solomon Isle there won't be any more zombies, at least?

I believe there are cabals that were started by CoH players. However, I am unsure of the names. If you look the Cabal forums, there are plenty of cabals that are advertising recruitment for new players. http://forums.thesecretworld.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17

As far as the enemies, you will see cultists, scorpions, werewolves, vampires, wendigos, spectres, wraiths, mutated bugs, golems, and others that I can't remember their names. (If you look at your chronicle and view the monster kills per race, it gives you a list of the enemies in the game.)

Heh. I go back there just to kill zombies.

There are lots of other cool nasties out there waiting for you... but Solomon Isle isn't just Zombies. There's this huge squid like thing that has had all of it's tentacles chopped off... there's animated salvage monsters.. and things in the woods that run on all fours... very creepy!

And just wait for the Ak'abs.. they look like a cross between mice and moths.. and they're particularly nasty.

I just spent an hour in the game looking for a group - with zero success.

My patience with the game is running out.

I don't know how large the EU population is but here in the US you won't find many people online at the time of day you were just looking for teams because on the East coast the kids are just getting out of school and the adults are still at work and as you move farther West it's even earlier in the afternoon. From a US time zone perspective you are playing during a time when server pops are low.

But again I won't pretend to know what EU players consider to be prime gaming hours.

Yeh, I've encountered a lot more than zombies, but zombies are the most ubiquitous. Followed by Ak'abs and Draugr. None of which I can stand >_>. I miss being able to skip mobs.

Did you try the following channels:
  • OOC
  • CoH-Refugees
("/chat join <channel>" if you haven't made the auto-join files.)

Cultists and bugs (mainly "locusts") will be the main focus in Egypt. Though ghouls are frequent in the desert, while filth & sand golems will be in the City of the Sun God.

Werewolves & Vampires are throughout Transylvania, but there are other nasties as well.

Ak'ab are very easy to fight if you stand with your back to a tree, wall, etc. It totally negates their charge attack.

And while I realize it doesn't actually do anything, I really enjoy making them charge into walls and trees.

I must admit, I miss flanking bonuses. I tend to just run in circles around the mob in question as I noticed that that often lessens the damage I take.

That thought will now make me enjoy fighting them more

There really should be a minor stun when they do that... it would be funny to watch those mouse-moth things wobble a little as they regain their senses.

Tried tsw myself over the weekend. Quite enjoying it although it does have its faults. I like tge skill system the contemporary setting. Not keen on the repetitive missions in the zombie zone (but the implementation of a town suffering a zombie attack is one if the best ive seen) or the grouping mechanic. Three day trial runs out tomorrow but will give it more of a go next month.

I wouldnt take any notice of the system analyzer as its run from the NVidia site and so assumes uf you dont have an nvidia card your machine wont run it which is a bit naff and transparent, frankly

That would indeed be glorious.

If you DO have an nvidia card it will tell you that you need a newer nvidia card after the scan. Even if (like me) the one you have runs the game just fine.

Am I the only one who thinks that an all-CoHer run of the New York raid when it's released to the live servers (not today, since they're still bugfixing it) would be very cool? We should do that.
