I subed for 1 year on May 3rd of 2012. What does that mean for me?

I am not going to lie, this still creates no good will towards NCSoft for me.

The test realm is open to everyone. Head on over there and give it a shot, everything on the test realm market is free.

Well, this doesn't bode well for the future of the game, though I won't give up on it yet...

I'm glad that refunds are being properly dealt with. Thanks for telling us what you could, Zwill. As always, you're awesome.

You will definitely receive a partial refund for the months where the service is not there. Reading Z's announcement, it's not completely clear if the refund will be calculated based on September 1st or December 1st.

I... uh..

did you not read the post? at all?

Not being mean, just, this whole post is pretty much -about- refunds.

If you have an oustanding balance as of Sept 1, meaning you would have continued to be subscribed beyond Sept 1, you will receive a refund for whatever is owed on your account.

So you should receive a refund for like 9 months.

Well, ok then. At least I'm not totally hosed after my yearly renewal.

Yeah, this phrase is pretty clear and specific. Whatever remaining subscription duration you had *AT SEPTEMBER 1* will be refunded.

That would be the petition that NCSoft is still choosing to ignore, right?

Unfortunately, with today's "here's how you get your money back" announcement from NCSoft I think we can officially say that the proverbial fork has been stuck in City of Heroes.

Thanks, as always, to Zwill and the rest of the team for many great years and an awesome game.

I've edited the original verbiage to remove the "full" from the statement. You will receive a prorated refund AFAIK. My apologies if there was any confusion.

Not at all. You're looking at it the wrong way. This is an official cessation of NCsoft services, and considering that everything IS officially being closed down, this is to be expected. They have to proceed in this manner.

Also as I said in another thread, if City of Heroes does continue on after this, it probably won't be under NCsoft.

I was starting to feel hope again given the efforts the community has been doing, the amount of people that signed the petition asking NCSoft not to shut down the game (19.113 this very moment), the echo in the media thx to TonyV and Titan Network piling up initiatives, and we get this tonight... I'm feeling depressed again :S

Btw, before I forget it... according to my Master Account Billing, I purchased 6 months of game on June 6th, will I get any refund for that, given the game (sadly) will be gone forever 30th November?

Also... seems my next billing is set for 6th December, shall I cancel my invoicing, or will it be cancelled by NCSoft before the renewal date?

Actually, they'd have to do this no matter what happens - the whole billing and account system is integrated into the wider PlayNC system, so for either a shut down or a sale, they'd still have to separate them.

August 24th for Paragon Point purchases?

Awesome. Nature Affinity that came out on the 21st was a wise investment.
This for me is the main issue I have with how it's all happened so abruptly. We got one of the most anticipated sets since the points system came in (Nature Affinity) along with bio armor (another one many people were desperate to get) just around the corner only one week before the news was revealed & apparently 3 days after its release is the cut off for purchased points. This stinks of one last money grabbing scheme as I highly doubt the timing is just a coincidence. I know plenty of people who bought a lot of points for these 2 sets alone.

Thanks Z, I have 2 time card questions. I just used a 60 day time card about 2 weeks before the announcement but I threw away the actual time card and it says you need the number. Also I have 4 unused 60 day time cards still do we submit them as well?

Stellar job as always Zwill. Here's hoping that you'll be able to give us better news in the near future.

Also, this is better than we hoped it would be. Most of us were expecting nothing or an offer to apply the time to other NCSoft games.

It's not the best possible news, but it's not the worst either.

Zwill.. question:

On one of our four accounts, I went in just this morning to select "remove card". Would this prevent that account from receiving a refund?

Posted

Thank you Zwill for the update, and thanks to everyone at Paragon for an awesome game. I hope this means not all is lost yet, seeing as either way if they close the game down or sell the IP they would have to issue refunds in some form.

Guys, this does not mean it's the end for the game. It's the end in terms of it's involvement with NCSoft. There still hasn't been any REAL word of our efforts being useless.

Wait! So I was expected to KEEP my time cards after applying them else I won't get a refund? Grrrr.... That's just stupid! Sorry, not angry at Zwill here, but imensely pissed off because I just lost $$ because I didn't aniticipate them shutting down the game. You know what NcSoft, Bork to you and your stupid Blade & Souls. I hope Guild Wars' success continues and smothers it. I for one, will NOT be accepting compensation toward that game, Aion, or Lineage 2. Give me my money or credit in GW2. Any other resolution is still in the realm of "You should have known we were going to do this."
