Yes, it's a word.

Trivia note: "Serendipity" is derived from a story by a guy named Horace Walpole about the "Three Princes of Serendip" (Serendip being an archaic name for Ceylon, which is is itself an archaic name for Sri Lanka). The princes always set out to solve various problems but got distracted by things that turned up by fortuitous accident. (An alternative definition attributes the term to "a Persian fairy tale.")

For the whole question about the Dagger of Jocas, wasn't it also the key plot point of one of the higher tier Alignment Missions? I feel like it was mentioned in one of those as being an evil artifact that some Circle of Thorns-related demon was planning on using. Or maybe Desdemona was going to be using it to defeat such a demon, but you had the real one and she had a fake, or something like that.

The dagger of Jocas is mentioned in Dream Doctors personal story mission. Which, storywise, happens before the DD trial.
And the quills of Jocas are mentioned in one of the Peregrine missions/arcs that deals with Black Swan.

Not exactly foreshadowing, but they were known to exist before the iTrials in question.

I do not suffer from altitis, I enjoy every character of it.

We do rarely get to see some good old fashioned "numbers" battles. By that I mean fights where the enemy just outright tries to overwhelm you with troops. The rare exception of that recently has been Marcus Cole's personal story, but sadly trying to complete that mission as intended mapservers you.

If batallion are a new race, lets hope we get some decent invasions, some staggering battles that involve good well thought out mechanics (instead of bonkers numbers or regen) and most importantly, the ability to counterattack them!!!

Well, compare it to:
  • Fighting eight clones of yourself at once, rather than just the one required to prove the process works. (Army of Me)
  • Letting Marauder rage as reinforcements pile in, and beating him (Lambda Looter/Antacid/Well Stocked)
  • Letting Anti-Matter regenerate to full health, and beating him (Loves a Challenge, if you don't die in the process)
  • Fighting armies while refusing backup (Knows No Fear and Lone Wolf, possible to "cheat" by getting a team to be your backup)
  • Letting Diabolique make the Sentinel as strong as possible, and defeating it anyway (Sentinel Smasher)
  • Letting Diabolique keep draining powers from the two heroes she still had the entire time you're defeating her (Sacrificial Lamb)

This isn't the first time there's been an "easy" way to do something, and a badge for doing it the hard way. The only difference is this time the devs weren't sure the hard way was possible, so it's a separate badge from Master of Magisterium.

As for lore and history, all that needs to be recorded are the basics: That Cole nuked the Magisterium, drew power from the souls of the dead, got even more power from the Well, and was abandoned by the Well when his enemies were able to overcome him anyway.

See i dont really care about dbz, goku is an idiot, he fights like a dolt. smart fighters find their opponents weaknesses and exploit them. reams upon reams of mythological stories involve the hero scouting out the weak point of their enemy or happening on it by chance and then using that to beat an overwhelming force. either with David hitting a weak point on an oversized armored warrior, susano o getting orochi drunk and then decapitating him, polyphemus being killed by having his eye impaled, lugh doing the same to balor, or achillies and... ya know. even willow and the pig trick(heck, also mad martigan and general kael). Its what heroes do, they triumph over brute odds with craft and wisdom.err..umm..spoiler alet.

plus its a poetic justice thing, tyrant's moral weakness was his underlings behavior, and the behavior of one of his underling serves to beat him, that's borderline monomyth territory.

And let's not forget the various "Master of" badges, as well as badges like "Gotta Keep 'Em Separated". There are probably quite a few more.

Did this on Champion, took us maybe 8-10 minutes tops to drop him:

Pound on Tyrant.
Spam "Lightning, jump away!"
Use Ultimate Inspirations, Lore Pets and Hybrid at the 25-30% Health mark.

When the odds are stacked against you, the resources the game provides make it a fair notch easier.

It's not that hard if you can get people to listen and follow simple directions.

Neuronia stated the best strategy in the post above...aside from that just make sure you have some debuffers/buffers/heals and yer good to go

As for this being "shady and cheap", Dream Doctor basically SAYS "I don't know how you're gonna do this, but I'm sure you'll figure something out!"

And we do.

I mean yeah, it'd be nice if we got the quills in, say, the BAF and it took up space in our inventory for 2 years with no real use until we meet Tyrant, but there's too much room for error there (like people deleting the power because it doesn't do anything), so this has to do.

Oh, and that time Goku beat Vegeta who had turned into a Giant Monkey.

Oh wait, HE DIDN'T.

I think it's because Rularru is an Ascended being, a Well in it's own right. With Tyrant being the Champion of our Well, that could have even worse consequences. Diabolique, while powerful due to her link to Mot, wasn't the Well's Champion, making it safer to use against her. Probably not 100%, but still your best bet.

Oh no, something we did might be slightly un-heroic. I'll just have to console myself by robbing banks and rearranging the organs of PPD officers.

Maybe now you know what it's felt like for villains all these years playing "co-op" content that was obviously written for heroes.

I still don't get this. I'm as disappointed with villain content of late as the next guy, but being happy that someone else is having as crappy time as my villains are strikes me as... Unproductive?

I think what he meant by that was, if heroes did something bad for once maybe now they get how villains feel doing good all the time. Doesn't fit the character, breaks immersion and enjoyment.

So SSA #1 where "heroes" get to kill off a number of their own through sheer incompetence.
