A writer needs to be able to realistically convey the beliefs of the character, even if they do not share them.

I really should do something about this signature.

However the Surfer was THANOS' prime foe when he came back in the 90's.

For the movies, given that this is Thanos' first incarnation and that Surfer rights will likely be unavailable, then they will go back to Thanos' classic cosmic foes:

1. Drax the Destroyer
2. Adam Warlock (though he may need an origin movie due to the character being....complex)
3. Captain Mar-Vell
The easiest out of those three is Mar-vell, though they may have to do something about the name (imagine the groans of the audience hearing what they think is the worst in-joke ever...) but he'd introduce the Kree and Skrulls.

No cousins until we get a Hulk movie that actually performs as a movie, I think. And Red Hulk won't fly, but the Leader was beautifully set up in Norton's movie. Logical extension of that movie.

What I want to see is a Hulk movie that doesn't entirely revolve around Banner's "condition".

Less angst, and make sure the Hulk is the solution, not the problem.

And no Red Hulk. The Leader is much better.

Alexis Denisof was The Other (the dude with the two thumbs and bloody teeth, the one reporting to Thanos).

The guy portraying Thanos was Damion Poitier.

Coulson lingered, taunted his "killer" and shot him well after the fatal blow was delivered and even hung on long enough to chat up Fury when he arrived minutes later.

Of course all the scenarios chatted up here would make total sense from LMD to life saving surgery. Also kudos to Caemgen on the "Shield has a great medical plan." as his opening line upon his reappearance, brilliant.
Well, he's supposed to be in Spider-Man in July.

So two months for a through-and-through sucking chest wound like that?

SHIELD's medical plan would be nice indeed!

Er.... I don't expect him to be in Spiderman, as Spidey is not in the MMU...

Well Mar-Vell's Kree birth name is Mar-Vell, but when he first appeared on Earth and battled a KRee Sentry robot, the robot said his name and all the bystanders misunderstood the pronunciation of Mar-Vell as Marvel. So they thought his name was Captain Marvel.

But Mar-Vell showing up could help bring in the Kree, the Chitauri are the Ultimate Marvel version of the Skrulls so we don't need the classic Skrulls showing up. Drax the Destroyer would help introduce Mentor and the Titans, but Adam Warlock may need a movie of his own first and that could be rather.....tricky.

Unless Earth's Mightiest Lawyers have assembled to hammer out a contract for all studios, then Coulson shouldn't be in Spidey's next movie and Spidey can't appear in the Marvel Movie Universe.

Fox retains all FF rights which also include Surfer and Galactus and I've read they want to reboot the FF. Fox also retains the X-men movie rights so they can't show up in the MMU either.

Mutants work better in their own universe anyway, they don't really fit with the greater Marvel universe.

I mean, getingt born with spider powers and getting shunned or getting them from a lab accident and getting famous doesn't really make any sense.

A GREAT film, although im not sure the bit where Cap 'tipped' Fury a few bucks really had to be there.

Rockshock (Druid Tanker), Medicat (Combat Medic), Dwarf From the North (Ice Mage), Rocket Gal (Energy Blaster), Graveborn (Undead Mastermind), Streeker (Punching Speedster), Op. Sidewinder (Recluse's pet Spider)

Erm, he didn't "tip" him.

It was Cap paying off his bet that he made earlier in the film about nothing surprising him anymore. Makes perfect sense for Captain America not to welsh on a bet.

He didn't tip him. It was a bet. You have to pay more attention during the gym sequence.

I'm curious where it says the writer doesn't believe it.

Or does the writer actually believe in the Norse Gods?

Oh, I know the history of it, but your broad movie-going audience will just take it to be the worst name gag in the history of bad name gags. I don't see Adam Warlock or Drax coming in because then you have to explain their backstories, as well as Thanos's, and that's going to take up way too much screen time that has to accomodate (at the least) six Avengers.

A single representative of the Kree as an ally helps the audience have an introduction to the broader Marvel universe, whilst keeping Thanos as the focus, as he'll be enough (with the Chitauri) for the team to deal with.

So true. The audience had a good laugh at that scene.

Makes total sense. One is going to drive you to extinction, the other is an accident that is usually unrepeatable.

That said, it also takes good writing to do it, and remembering they are in fact a shared universe. Sometimes Spidey titles remember this, but usually in the "oh hey X-Men guest stars issue"

Odd thought:

How much would Cap have earned in 1944/5 from public appearances and merch? Mostly he would have donated it, but if he stuck them into Liberty Bonds that are as yet unclaimed and have compound interest...

...could he buy a reasonable chunk of Stark Enterprises with that? Or at least a Cap-Cycle and some gadgets?

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

I don't think he would have made anything from public appearances exvept his normal soldier wages.

Nothing. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army and wouldn't have gotten paid anything more than his military wages.

Correct, though as I recall sometime after he was thawed out in the comics, the military crunched the numbers and figured out how much back pay he was owed. It was quite a significant sum as I recall.

Sure it's a name gag, just like when in the comics they linked Mar-Vell to Rick Jones was a tribute to Billy Batson/Captain Marvel.
