What is a game feature that you never knew existed?

It's better (and worse) than that.

Z, by default will cancel any queued powers, so if you suddenly really REALLY don't want to use the power you've got queued, then slap Z and assuming you're in time, it won't activate.

However...

It will also un-auto any auto powers you may have. Had Hasten on auto-fire? Not any more.

Nowadays, to drop out of combat stance, I just hit Esc twice. I don't use auto-fire powers much, but when I do, I want them to stay auto-fire, like mez protection on my Shield/SR toons.

Remembered one which may be since the login update for Freedom: if you double-click a character on your server's character listing it will launch them into the game just as if you hit 'Enter Paragon/Rogue/Praetoria'.

The escape button also does that. The escape button also deselects any friend or foe you have targeted, if any. I think it will also remove any power queue you currently have.

Hmmmm... did not know this one. I guess I just follow the UI a bit more closely than some people... I would never in a million years have thought to do that with the big "Enter" button in the corner.

I'll have to try that! Accidentally queued attack powers have gotten my blaster into more trouble in mob fights than anything... "Run away, run away, run... noooo, why are you suddenly turning back around and shooting at the enemies! No, no, stop, don't go running toward them!"

I spent a really embarrassing amount of time not knowing there were multiple power trays and so I didn't have to keep dragging powers off the list to use them. More recently, I learned that you can manually edit a chat tab and customize one window with all the channels you want to see. That's saved a whole, whole lot of flipping back and forth between windows during team missions.

Edit: Or I'll have to try this, either way.

Not exactly something new or exciting, but building on the F1-F5 for Inspirations comment...

I frequently stack 'important' insps that I don't want to accidentally use on top of Awakens. As the game won't let you use an Awaken unless you're dead, it protects anything stacked on top of them from pressing F# by accident.

/auctionhouse is actually new with Freedom and is a fairly high tier Paragon Rewards perk, I believe.

Wow. Glad I remapped Z in my default binds a LONG time ago.

2 For masterminds, but they're both similar.

1: If you drag an inspiration to a pet, it'll use it, except wakes.

2: Target a pet and type /inspexec_pet_target "the inspiration name" and that pet uses the named inspiration.

I knew about the first one for about a year but i just recently learned the second one. Good for macro's and/or binds

Adding to that: If you pop a Team Inspiration, it will buff your nearby MM pets, too. And any belonging to any other MM on your team.

I'm not sure about other kinds of pets, though.

Binding Shift + L Click to Teleport. I cannot even express how much easier it is to move around now and teleporting is practically as easy as any of the other movement powers.

And /Suppressclosefxdist x has been a life saver on the relative low end computer I play on.

Aaaand now most of my characters carry one Super handy for those pesky elite bosses all over villain side.

Also the Atlas Medallion! Soooo simple to get. I wish the villainside accolades were as easy to get >> Stupid debt and damage badges.
Here is how I got my damage badges that I needed with my tank. Turn off any defense or resist toggles. You can keep a taunt aura on if you have one. Go into a mission. If it hasn't changed, you do not auto log while in a mission. Grab a few minions and get them beating on you. Eat a few purples and use rest. Once it kicks in, you will take a crap ton on damage, but with only two or so minions hitting on you, the super increased regen takes care of the damage.

Turn monitor off and go to bed for the night.

If I bind it to a key I might just forget it exists again.

SPEAKING OF game features people probably never knew existed:

The magic of Popmenus. If you put in the effort to make them, they make gameplay wonderful.

I have one on my Traps Mastermind to access most of the Traps powers. So slick.

I have these in use for all the Veteran Powers, and in a separate macro a host of useful powers like Mission TP, Ouro, Rest, etc. I love these things. It has put probably 25-30 powers into two macro buttons... absolutely wonderful!

I used to have one that had all of the Costume Change emotes in it, but it grew unwieldy with all the ones that exist now, and I didn't use it much anyway, so I removed it.

I believe you're right about that.

Another command that I think is unlocked at the same time is /vault, which gives you instant, remote access to your security vault.

A feature the I use all of the time that most either don't know about or have forgotten is the Empowerment table. I can't tell you how many players try to correct me when I say I need to craft a quick empowerment by saying "they're enhancements".

My all time favorite empowerments are the Increase Attack Rate (20% recharge boost), Grant Invisibility (the name is misleading as it gives you stealth rather than allowing you to stealth team mates), and Knockback Protection (in the early levels before acrobatics is available or for when you need to put off taking it for a while).

The best part is that they last for an hour

/auctionhouse is NOT new with Freedom. It was part of the old Veteran Rewards program and was one of the rewards for 84 months along with the badge, 1 Free Character Slot, 7 Free Reward Merits and the ability to change the colors of your title.

/vault is NOT new with Freedom. It was part of the old Veteran Rewards program and was the reward for 87 months along with the badge.

With the launch of Freedom, some of the old Veteran Rewards became available to those that didn't meet the old VR requirements. Both of those commands are available in Tier 8.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I'd highly recommend you don't just manually turn it on, otherwise you'll have to manually turn it off without being able to see the chat window! (certainly possible, but if you're not comfortable with slash commands it could get very messy)
Isn't that the same as binding a key to Hide UI from the keybinds setting?

*edit* The "popmenu" thing might make it easier to clean up my temp power clutter, though it does seem to add the extra step of clicking through menus with the mouse whereas I've gotten used to direct-action binds.

Coincidentally, I've been using Enter for respecs for at least a year or so. XD
Also, it does not working for normally training up. Believe you me, I tried.

Something I recently came across was that using "/stopinactivedisplay 1" Will make your CoH window stop visually displaying when it is not the active window, so it cuts down on lag if you like to dual/triple/gazillion-box.

You can create popmenus that have key triggers to select the menus/items listed. So you can hit your bound key to pop the menu open, then you can hit, for instance, 1-9 to select from the nine items listed, which will either pop those submenus open or execute the command(s) attached to it. Your mouse doesn't need to do anything.

Yeah, that's a good point. Still, it seems considerably more complex than multiple binds, is what I mean. I saw the thread on the subject and the ideas weren't bad, per se, they just seemed like more complex ways to accomplish fairly simple tasks, just with fewer binds/macros. I get that I could take multiple powers out of my trays that way, but I actually like having those IN the actual trays so I can see when they're recharged.

That's not me trying to criticise. I like the idea, especially since I was messing with Java's Swing package recently for work. But I can't really come up with a way for me to use them directly.

After reading this, I had to try it out. I was running the Montague arc and was ready to craft the lost wand. Rather than run from Atlas to SC, I popped into AE and crafted away. Unfortunately, it said the wand was crafted, but it was nowhere to be found! Not in the trays, not in my powers list. I tried logging out and back in. Nada.

I dropped the mission and started it again, Montague gave me the grave dirt but when I went to craft the wand normally at the university, I had none of the other ingredients and no way to get them again. I had to petition a GM and get them to put the wand in my tray.

So, for crafting the lost cure wand, don't use AE!
