Considering that Dick Tufeld (the guy who was the voice of the robot in question) just past away a few weeks ago this would be an interesting tribute to him.

I like that it has a very wide wingspan, and that's precisely what I'd really like to have. Both of the retro sci-fi jet packs look like mini-packs, almost like backpacks that have thrusters on them. Hell, neither of them extends past the person's shoulders.

Maybe that's just what the retro 50s sci-fi style calls for, but I'm just saying I don't think they're too big.
The following is a great and obvious example of what I think of when I think of "retro sci-fi jet pack":

I realize Dink would probably not be able to get away with copying this exactly, but clearly it shows it to be a "backpack" sized device that is not quite as big/wide as Dink's version.

Fantastic work, Dink. I'm sold already.

The bubble helmet with a choice of heads inside is amazing.

Don't let this dev go, NCSoft. She's a keeper.

One thing i totally forgot to ask On these pictures/poll threads there was zero indication about that little alien on the shoulder part, is that still planned to be in it?

*begs* Pllleasseeeeeeeeeee! My male characters cant have the kitten so it needs an alien on his shoulders!

I'm stunned at how good really everything in this set looks, but the way this outfit captures everything I think of about Retro Sci-Fi is just unbelievable. I was ecstatic to see the rings had been saved, and then that got turned up two more notches when I saw we'll have the option of glowing and non-glowing! This is just beautiful, beautiful work, and the way we were able to offer feedback and then see that feedback used to shape the final design is inspiring. I can't wait to make my first costume with these pieces.

More specifically for the Plummit session where this was concocted: there was a bright green, one-eyed brain slug that David drew as a joke that everyone kinda fell in love with. Are we going to see that come out?

My mind is reeling at the combinations... How long before we see female toons in skimpy spacesuits wielding energy staffs?

As long as they don't mind directly ripping off Futurama then I'm all for it.

Be that as it may, it doesn't change the fact that I wish the dual backpack were bigger, or at least wider. As I said, it may not be consistent with retro 50s sci-fi, but I'd buy the size we have now, or bigger. It's just how I feel, personally.

Can we at least have sluggie as a shoulder pet? We have a panda and a cat. We could use a shoulder slug.

If I had to guess that was probably sort of a joke and never was meant to be taken seriously. Sadly it would also be a complete ripoff from at least Futurama so that's probably enough of a reason why it won't happen.
The original suggestion was just "alien shoulder pet." David drew it as a brain slug - I think as someone in the crowd shouted that out later.

Hopefully the Futurama reference was not the reason the shoulder pets were abandoned. I thought I remembered Clockwork stating that there were clipping problems with the pets, but I could not find that post. No doubt it is my faulty brain.

It's made well. I just don't feel it belongs. City of Heroes has a semi-realistic, largely stylised art style which draws looks from more realistic media but depicts them in a cleaner, more simplistic way. That's good, because it allows us to have costumes that look a lot better than a real person could look in the same costume in real life. There's a reason tights look goofy in live action movies yet look so much better in games - because in real life, they can never stick to the body as tightly. They fold, they crinkle, they stretch, and they simply don't look good.
Sorry you don't like them, but I think they look 100 times better than some of the older stuff we have, like the Hellenic Cankles, er... I mean Sandals.

Can't you just use the Think Tank for that? It already comes with an empty option. You can't make it opaque, though. I tried.

*edit*
Is the Think Tanks still for sale?

Nope. That was only out for Halloween.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

See, this is why I hate limited-time offers for goodies that aren't that specific to limited-time holidays.

I prefer them too. I am much saddened by the fact they didn't put the valentine costumes up for sale. I tried my damndest, but I couldn't manage to unlock everything on the characters I wanted.

It would be a crime of epic proportions to release a retro sci-fi pack with a bubble helmet and have no gorilla head to put in it.

Just another quick update before I am out of here for a couple of days off to celebrate my Birthday (Friday) I'll be gone until Monday so please play nice and be good

Since so may asked I shrunk the back pack and you will be happy to know there is a version of the second back pack without the little pistons so 3 back packs will be available.

Thanks guys for the feedback and comments!

Seriously? SWEET! Thank you! I honestly wasn't really interested in the Retro Sci-Fi set when it was first proposed as basic concept, but what you've come up with since I actually really enjoy. This is a definite buy for me, now even more than ever!

Also, happy birthday ahead of time
