win what? The only things you can buy that help you 'win' are all earnable in game. The costumes and the pet are the only things exclusive, and... well don't think being dressed nicely or having a cute barky vanity pet does not give you any kind of 'winning' advantage.

What the hell is a Paragon Merit? Did I miss a memo somewhere, or is this what we're calling reward tokens now?

edit: also, that ****** wolf pet will be the end of me.

Thanks for the information, Zwil.

I will not be buying these, but good luck to the ones that do.

Then it's something I can do without.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

wha? Where did this come from?

This is a no for me too (though I may throw some stray reward tokens at them).

I am against these as a product and don't want to see future ones implemented in the same way. I vote no. I only want the costume set and won't pay a random amount for them.

If you had let us buy the costume pieces individually, a la carte, then I would probably have bought some packs to try my luck. As is, nope.

You can win costume competitions without needing the Elemental Order set.

Not that I plan on doing these super packs, but in no way do they help you "win" anything; MAYBE a costume contest with the elemental order pieces....

I'm not thrilled that merits are still on the VR table, but I like that ATO's have the highest percent to drop on it.

I like this idea and will buy a few. Its exciting... like opening a x-mas present. Is it gonna be socks or a big wad of cash... I like that part. Same reason I random roll every Hero Merit I get.

No one goes there anymore, it's too crowded...

My math sux so help me if I'm wrong... If there is a 34.14% of getting an ATO in a pack and there are 12 ATO sets (6 pieces in each), my chances of getting the piece needed for my favorite toon (MM) is about 0.4742%. So I would have to buy more than 200 packs to get the full set... ouch.

You only have a 34% chance if you get a very rare. You many not even get a very rare.

I am not sure why Z posted these numbers without also telling us the chance of getting each tier, since it makes the rare and very rare numbers practically useless.

Could someone check my numbers here? The odds I'm getting for the black wolf are, frankly, absurd.

Odds of getting a Very Rare card in a super pack: 79/100 (from here)
Odds of getting a black wolf from a VR card after getting all three Elemental Order parts: 1 in 192. (Actual odds of getting the wolf from a VR card are slightly worse, since you've got a slight chance of getting the wolf while the costume parts are still in the rewards table.)
Odds of getting a black wolf pet from a super pack: 79/19200, or about 0.41%

Plugging this into my binomial-distribution spreadsheet gives a 50% cost of 169 packs and a 99% cost of 1116: that is, 50% of players who want a black wolf pet will need to open at least 169 super packs to get it, and one person in a hundred will need to open 1,116 or more.

Arcanaville already worked out the distribution of card types: see http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Super_Pack

I wonder if we could get a confirmation that her numbers are still correct.

If so, that is more VR that I had expected.

If that functionality isn't there yet then that's a bug AFAIK. I know that was occurring during beta but my understanding was that it was corrected at some point.

Also, it's important to note that the ATO's purchased using Reward Merits/Hero Merits are coming with Issue 22. The wait should not be very long.

Uh... Yeah, i guess you have to pay in points or tokens to win whatever's in a Super Pack since that's the only way to get them, but otherwise your statement is... uh, well actually it's kind of dumb. At least in reference to the Super Packs. Everything except the pet and costume pieces can be acquired through other means.

The Elemental Order pieces are rather nice looking, but hardly required to win anything. i've won costume contests using nothing but pieces available since Issue 6.

i'll be spending a few reward tokens on these packs just to see what i get, so i guess there's that.

i make stuff...

That's a relief. I think I'll save my money and wait for that option. Thanks.

Ditto. The costume pieces are very nice looking, and I'd buy them outright as a Costume Bundle, but I'm not going to gamble for them and spend a variable and likely gratuitous amount of points/money/tokens on a bunch of stuff that I don't really want along the way. I got out of CCGs because that kind of system annoys me, and I avoided HeroClix (and a couple of other things that otherwise interested me, such as Navia Dratp) altogether because of it.
