Why make such awesome, upgraded jeans and casual shirts, and limit them to being purchasable only one month out of the year? It doesn't make any sense to me that you want to restrict such commonly used costume parts like this. I know you guys think the jeans from 2004 are showing their age. Don't you want new players in March through January of next year to see this level of quality in the costume creator?
I know I sound like a broken record now, but I want this pack, yet I'm not buying it because I disagree with the time restriction, and posting and not buying it are the only things I can do to try to convince you that it would be good for the game to have them available year-round. Putting a time restriction on this pack makes the least sense of all the packs you've done it to.
The parts are so good, too. It just doesn't make any sense to me that you wouldn't want them out there as much as possible. Please consider making them available year-round.
Also, your formatting is broken at the bottom, there. Looks like you used HTML instead of BBCode.

Death for Dollars! (ID 1050)

Total a la Carte price: 1060 Paragon Points
Bundle price: 400 Paragon Points 660 Paragon Points savings! |
The limited time availability makes less sense, however, than offering this for a discount now and at full price for the rest of the year.
* Edit: Although those who have the teleporter and the dance emotes save only a little.

What I don't understand is the "make 'em rush to buy it now because, obviously, this item won't sell year 'round" mentality. Why tick off players, that start March 7th, that will have to wait a YEAR to get this item again? Why tick off players that have limited funding or are on a budget?

I feel like I need to put the marketing people in a time out for this. This kind of behavior needs to be curbed. Now.

Cool... Untucked shirts. Now if we could only get a flowered print texture for them as well. (cause, IRL I have a real weakness for Hawaiian style shirts and would love a way to make my in game namesake wear em too)
Limited time offer is bad. As in gets me mad bad. There is no reason to do so. And mis-calling a clubbing-outfit pack a Valentine's Pack doesn't justify it. There is nothing Valentines-y about this pack. There is nothing Spring Fling-ish about this pack. There is nothing seasonal about this pack.
I already posted one screed about how my view of Marketing/Production is plummeting. This is the second. And it's plummeting further.

What I really don't like about this pack is I already have paid for the Dance Emotes and I've already earned the TP power through vet rewards. So I'm only saving 80 points if I bundle and buy it all. Which seems silly to me. Why not offer an even better discount if some people already have some of these items.

More costume options are always welcomed but I can not see myself buying this. I guess there is a subculture present that like to dress in street clothes and hang out in Pocket D.

The fact this gets labeled as "valentine's" is completely baffing and offputting.
Just putting in that I am also opposed to the arbitrary time limitation on this (and other) items placed on the market and won't be buying.
Your fake scarcity ain't working with me!

Quit with the time limited exclusives. They are only reasonably acceptable with obvious holiday items, and even then they annoy me. Just stop it.

Too bad there's not an upgraded trenchcoat version, we need more options than just the one in that category.
I agree with others that there isn't any valentine/spring fling/etc theme to this pack. the pieces are nice, and i'd like to buy the bundle because I'm a costume hound. however, I've just enough points for an upcoming powerset or two and likely won't be giving those up for this within the silly timeframe available.
At the very least, packs like this should be available as a bundle for an amount of time, and then have the pieces available a-la carte for the rest of the year, offering bundle prices every few months or something. The recent trend of 1 month availability can work for some heavily themed items, like the holiday (christmas) pack... but -EVERY- -SINGLE- -HOLIDAY-?! not so much...
I really adore this new set, thank you. As a new player i missed out on a lot of things this gave me the opportunity to get great costume parts, the teleporter and dances for a much reduced cost. i feel it is wonderful. Just as i see the devs Really trying to appeal to everyone.... I cite this set.. and the soon to be retro sci fi.. and then golden age/tights redo..Such an awesome game. where the Devs take such a active role in the community so unlike so many other MMOs i have played
Before folks get to upset about limited time you may consider that the only thing that will be limited time will be the complete booster. Much like how i can not get the magic set with the tarot cards anymore. Likely the outfits may stay as a smaller set for purchase minus the Teleporter and dances.

THANK YOU!
Finally you guys give us a detailed listing of what's in a costume pack! I hope this is the new plan going forward and not a one-time aberration.
This sets pretty much an insta-buy for me, as one of my characters NEEDS that shiny dress (her name's Shimmer), but I do kind of agree, why make this a limited time offer? I am sure that plan will upset people who join later in the year and have to wait for these to come around again...
haha, again with the big tiger. Not that I'm complaining, but someone in marketing or the graphic department must really like him.
And, ya, toss in my vote that I don't see why this is time locked. If anything, I can see the -deal- being limited time given how big a discount we're getting on the full bundle, but I don't see a good reason to keep these costume bits on such a limited time gate. We've already got the roman pieces on a limited timer already. It just seems like a cheap marketing ploy "quick quick, you have to spend before they all go away".
That said, I am tempted to pick it up, it's nice to have some normal pants.
I agree with you, Agent, it IS a ploy to make people buy points and items "quickly before they all go away foreeeeeeeever!" type thing.
And it sucks.
As much as I want a few of the items I only have 600 points and I cannot afford to buy anymore right now. I can spend 120 on the skirt, top, and strappy heels, but I'd still get a better bang for my buck by buying it all together.
So I guess I'll miss out. Sometimes, Devs, your strategy backfires.
OH, and I may have 600 points, but when I22 launches the staff set and beast mastery set will be 800 each (likely) and I want to have enough banked for them especially staff melee.

My Characters
I'll probably swoop that up, just because I love more costume options. That said, could we have some male exclusive items once in a while? This "metal top" deserves a male version as well.
Please try to avoid going overboard with female exclusive items in your attempt to be balanced. Moving to an extreme is just going to tick off a different portion of the player base.
Edit: Thanks for the male hairstyles!

Another vote against time-limiting items on the store. Let us give you our money year round!
That said, I bought the leather studded belt because it's one of the best belts in the game. It's really great!
Discount or no discount, I'll continue to buy a la carte because if I dress a character in a complete set, I've failed in my costuming. I only buy pieces I have an immediate use for, and 99% of my costume-piece purchases happen in the costume creator as opposed to directly in the store.

My Characters
Still not wasting my points. Unlike many of you I don't have a lot of money, I can't always buy points when I want them, I generally have to horde my monthly stippend.

My main character has always fought crime in a teeshirt and jeans. Now he's in really bad-*** jeans. Though I do hope there's a new (untucked) teeshirt option coming out in the future... he looks a bit unbalanced currently.

I agree with this sentiment. Nonsensical limited time buys just come off a bit greedy and needlessly limiting to players.

Plus, those spiked shoulder pads? Total dance floor hazard.
Luckily, the Paragon Market has you covered with the new Pocket D Valentines Pack! This pack contains 14 brand new costume pieces, guaranteed to make you stand out. The Pocket D Valentines Pack also comes with a Pocket D VIP Pass Teleporter, and 2 dance emotes so you can show off your new threads in style! But you'll need to hurry: these fashions are only available until March 6, 2012!
