Don't you want new players in March through January of next year to see this level of quality in the costume creator?

Unless, of course, they think it actually works and gives them higher sales.

J/ Wilde/ / AIL - Celebrating five years!
It doesn't seem like nearly as big of a deal as people are making out of it, but I don't really see a reason for it being time limited other than the holiday theme, either.

I've already got the robot pack and the teleporter, so the bulk of the 'pack discount is lost to me. At this point, unless I can foresee a use for each and every piece, it probably makes sense to buy them piecemeal. As it stands, I can see a use for maybe 5 or 6 of these pieces, so a piecemeal purchase saves me a few bucks... especially if I wait until I actually USE them in a costume to buy them.
BUT...
If I know that they won't be available after X date, I may be tempted to buy them all NOW just in case I discover a good use for something later on and can't get it.
Can we get a little clarification here, just to avoid any chance of confusion?
.... The Pocket D Valentines Pack also comes with a Pocket D VIP Pass Teleporter, and 2 dance emotes so you can show off your new threads in style! But you'll need to hurry: these fashions are only available until March 6, 2012! |
Just to be 100% sure:
- Is it the FASHIONS (the costume pieces) that disappear after March 6, 2012? (This seems most likely, based on other holiday stuff)
- Is it the entire contents of the pack, meaning that the "not so new" pieces (dance, vip) go with it? (this seems unlikely, as you go out of your way to specify fashions)
- Is it only the bundle that disappears after March 6 2012, with the pieces available individually afterward? (this seems the most player-friendly, as it makes these available to new players... for a price... and these pieces aren't as bound to a holiday-themed event as others.... Parties can happen anytime, after all. ).

Since there's already a problem with this costume item not being unlocked correctly why don't you use this opportunity to take as much time as necessary to correct the "hyper-huge toes" weirdness of this item before you release it. I'd rather wait more time to have this item looking good rather than to have it ASAP.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
Is the Metallic Top for female characters only going to be available under Tops With Skin? I like it, but not as a standalone piece. If it could be put under shirts and jackets, it'll be a definite buy, but since I don't see that available at the moment, I'll be skipping it for now.
personally,I am a bit burned out of all the marketing theyare doing to sell us items. If the items were so good, would they not sell them selfs? and the not so subtle mention of buying more points, once again City of Money comes to the fore front. While I understand they are in this business to make money,I feel like every week I am getting a call to support Them.
And the placing of values for each part, well they could just as easily place each piece at 100PP and show us a really big savings.
I am reminded of the Golden Rule,"He who owns the gold rules".
In real life, if the values were not too good, I could go to another store to buy the same item.

If the picture is any indication of the product...I don't think it looks that great. Now...that belt...WANT IT!

I'm personally not a huge fan of the belt though I'd probably still use it on a character or two. It's nifty though in that the metal studs on the thing are shiny and reflective. Yay for ultra mode or something like that.

I can't find the new Red Pocket D Teleporter anywhere the one advertised on the icon.
I bought both the Gold one with the boxed version when it came out. Then I bought the Pocket D Pack it showed me the Red version.
I even tried to log out and log in and the Red version didn't show up.
Is there a bug where you can not get the Red version if you already have the Gold version.

It's a dark and story night. That means something bad is happening out there
Thanks for a detailed and illustrated listing of what you're asking me to buy. But why weren't you doing this from the start?
I don't get why this and other products haven't been accurately labeled. The Gunslinger pack wasn't a gunslinger pack and this is no Valentine's pack. When I heard the name, I was excited at the possibilities, only to discover that it's a Disco pack. And here's the thing: I like this Disco pack -- so why didn't you just market it to me that way?
The fabulous discount doesn't apply to me. So I'm being told there's a fabulous discount and there really isn't. How am I supposed to feel about that?
I personally don't care about the time limit you've set because I always purchase what I want while it's still available. But why do you want to deprive your customers of options?
I'm buying the bundle because I buy all the bundles because I like options. I have street heroes and outer space heroines who will benefit from these new costume pieces. I will never use them for RPing in Pocket D as I don't do that. And the emotes in the bundle I purchase will never see the light of day.
And, despite the problems, your steps forward with Marketing are not going unnoticed or unappreciated.
So I have two problems...
...one the tie can't be used unless you have the hideous shirt on. At least for males.
Also, you can only used the designed sleeves for the shirt on males. While the females have multiple options for the sleeves because they already had a shirt section for females....
...cuts down on the options.
I like the jeans, I really like the jacket, and I don't have the Pocket D teleporter, so I'll pick up this pack. Still ticked about missing the Halloween pack, but that was more an issue with me being a cheap ******* trying to wait for points than spend five whole dollars.

As to the limited time; I hear you, I understand you, however limited time isn't something new for us and we don't have any plans on discontinuing this practice. It's perfectly understandable to be disappointed by this and I'll certainly talk to Marketing/Business about our current strategy (please stop blaming production as this isn't their decision).
Anything that's time limited will return, much like any items tied to seasonal in game events. You will, eventually, have another opportunity to pick these items up.

The only place that "limited time offers" work are in the fast food industry. You are not fast food. You are not offering something nourishing or tasty that we believe that we can not live without. You are offering digital items inside of a 8 year old product, that has the ability to not be active in 12 months time.
You are offering something shiney to those that can afford it... within a 30 day window. You are saying to everyone that is on a limited budget, "Sorry, you're not good enough for us if you can not immediately pay for something that we consider to be top of the line. So enjoy watching others play with something you might never have the ability to purchase."
These are vanity items. Vanity items should not have an expiration date.
pohsyb: so of all people you must be most excited about the veats
Arachnos Commander: actually, I am

But trotting out this particular quote, which anyone who has ever worked with a customer can tell you is patently untrue, does not help make the case. You might as well have gone straight to "slap in the face" while you were at it.
If you want to convince marketing of something, don't put words in their mouths. Make a business case for unrestricted purchase that will counter their apparent belief that making things limited will force people into a "panic purchase" mentality and will allay their (I'm assuming) suspicions that if you don't make the items time-limited, people will put off purchasing and eventually will forget about buying the item - since if they've gone three months without it, they must not need it at all.
That's the kind of thinking that has to be countered, and it doesn't get countered with "the customer is always right."

I suppose there's also the appeal of exclusiveness to it. Owning a piece that not everyone was able to grab, which won't be around until next year, if ever. Of course, that already applies to any limited time costume pieces, so this is hardly anything new.
From the way people are posting, it sounds like the other issue is it's the only way to get quality shirts. I've yet to see the images from the pack, so I can't comment on that.

J/ Wilde/ / AIL - Celebrating five years!
Bundle price: 400 Paragon Points
660 Paragon Points savings!
Market Location: Paragon Picks > Bundles
KNOWN ISSUE: Currently, purchasing the Strapped Heels does not unlock this costume piece properly. This will be corrected as soon as possible.
Thus, the bundle is a meager 80 points discount over buying them individually, or 160 point discount if I consider the dance emotes valuable.
Still, I bought the pack as I consider the pants and shirts upgrades to the tailor screen very QoL upgrades for new character building, and a discount is a discount.
