Unwelcome change to Montague's Arc
That is currently active on live now. .. oh. You mentioned it :-p
I dislike this change too, and I believe a few have voiced concerns in the "Bug" forums.
Fairly dumb change. Well, the dumb idea is to lock a zone behind a badge that is obtained at the end of a story arc, really, so this right here is dumb squared.

Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!
Do not want.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Just auto complete it. You just need to wait out the auto complete cooldown and you can do every step while staying in place.
While I don't think this change was necessary and it seemed fine being able to occasionally sneak new people into the club...
I.E. you have eight characters on a team who do not have the Midnighter intro badge that gives access to the club. You will have to run that arc eight times, once with ever person as the mission owner.

I think it just means that every character would have to be doing the arc, getting the missions as the team goes through it (as we've been doing it all this time).
You should be able to complete the missions together, with the single run, so long as everyone has the mission(s).
and round up everyone that knows more than they do"-Dylan
Really dislike it, and it discourages teams since there is no reason to help someone on that arc if you don't get the reward.

I don't think it set up quite that badly... The thing that's changing is people hopping on board just for the final mission. You can still start the arc together with a group of people. Everyone just needs to accept their own missions. (and have the co-op complete option turned on.)

Yes it is live, I did this on a team about a week ago. You just have to check in with Montague to get the option to complete the mission you hold you just did. Then get the next one. You can do this for the whole arc assuming you don't fail Lady Jane's mission. If you do you will have to run it until you succeed or all fail. Considering how many Ruin mages and ghosts spawn for a full team on that map plus ambushes good luck. I was not able to move forward on the mission chain and didn't seem to be able to autocomplete while I was teamed. Maybe people could try passing the star and see if you can autocomplete that way? I haven't tried yet as it just occurred to me.
This is one of those arcs that really brings teams together and I honestly don't see the reason for this upcoming change.
Completely against this train of thought. If you're on a team and get help to complete the arc, this badge should continue to be awarded to all. This is a team sport and you're removing the incentive , I honestly don't see the reasoning.

Right and Techbot is completely wrong. You don't need to run it eight times. At the very worst you need to run it slightly more than one time, in the case where you had seven people running it from the start, an eighth joined, and you need to start from the start to catch that person up. The only thing this fix prevents is people rounding up seven strangers with a shoutout on a channel to the effect of "about to complete the midnighter arc, who needs it?"
Since the Lady Jane fix, it's one of the easiest arcs in the game. This really is not a big deal.
Another brilliant punitive change.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
Wow, yes, how punitive. Only awarding the reward for a story arc to people who complete the story arc. Oh yeah, and anyone over level 10 can grab the arc at any time easily. God this is so onerous! When will the devs relieve us of this Sisyphean burden?
I imagine this was the solution to fix the actual bug.
The one that allowed you to talk to the Latin Student, earn the badge then abandon the mission. Picking up the mission again put you at the point of talking to the Latin student, so you could earn the badge for another group of players.
"I saw my advantage and took it. That's what heroes do." - Homer Simpson.
I think I know why. If you talked to the latin student, then abandoned the mission, you could get it again for another group of people. I was worried when my friends discovered and reported this.

Outside of the Incarnate stuff, that's about as onerous as it gets in this game.

That said, kind of a silly change, but not quite end of the world either.
MA Arcs: Yarmouth 1509 and 58812
A poorly written, poorly designed, and all-around asinine story arc that pits you against one of the game's most annoying enemy factions and has to be run with every single character you make if you have even the slightest interest in doing Cimeroran content (including one of the game's most popular pastimes in the ITF) or IIRC any of the other Midnighter arcs.
|
Is it that hard to do the arc?
You can solo it, as far as I am aware of.
So, are you against solo'ing? Or did you need something to complain about to reach your daily quota? Is it that serious? Do you feel one person should carry the burden of having to do the whole arc so 7 other people can join in on one mission and get the badge and have to skip all the work?
Just got back into playing my old defenders (so old, she didn't have inherent fitness or any vet reward power or customized powers). Solo'ed the arc on gray DOs at lvl 22 or something. (and we're talking about a weak Sonic/Psi build)
Ain't that hard to just run the arc, skip all the dialog, etc. It's a pain if you make it a pain. Just run it like you do any old farm map and have fun with it.
Note: On Lady Jane's mission, just skip over her spawn, fight to the box then go back to get her. You can outrun any ambushes that spawn by the door. Cake.

This is nothing new. This is not a slap in the face. This is the Devs removing an exploit. Get a team of 8 together, run the arc at the same time making sure that everyone checks in with Montague after each mission, and everyone on the team does the arc once. It is now the same as every other arc in the game.
Yes, we have lost a convenience for those who did not want to run the whole arc, but the arc still functions like any other mission arc.

This is not a welcome change. This is a time sink of the needless and questionable variety. There is no apparent logic to the change, even less so than the continued need for the arc to gain access to Cimerora. Given Menders Ramiel and Silos both KNOW of the Midnighters 'secret' Pillar of Ice and Flame, it renders the whole 'secret induction' rather moot.
Some people have said this access nerf is already on live, and that it's been discussed. Having not seen any threads about it so far, I thought I'd bring this up while there's still time to mention how this is a really bad idea that is only going to frustrate the players and make them hate Monty's arc more than they already do.
Dev's, please see a little reason and leave the arc and badge alone. Pointless time sinks and needless re-runs are not cool. That should be common knowledge by now.
