Plenty of you have full grasp of reality, but the stereotype sticks because you have a fair number of loud voices validating said stereotype. The brush has a genuine target, its stroke is just too broad.
  2. Good fish, and thanks for all the byes!

Wait, I think I did that wrong ....

Ugh. Frankly I would rather watch CoH die than see what Disney would massacre it into.

This probably comes as news to you, but the majority of the human race does not have anywhere near the combined level of reflexes, manual dexterity, and awareness needed to do well at twitch games. They may have one or another individually, but the average person will never be that fast, that accurate, AND that good at registering exactly what's going on around them - no matter how much practice they get.

So yeah, you can count yourself lucky that you happen to be among the gifted handful that can snap off a headshot on cue. But if you want that game of yours to actually be populated enough to be worth playing ... something's gotta give.
  6. Did I really just scroll through a full-page pot vs kettle argument about people repeating themselves?

This forum gets more pathetic by the day.

Dunno about Wikipedia. They tend to be Nazis when it comes to notability and references. A "Save CoH Movement" page wouldn't last long. You'd be doing well to get it referenced on the main CoH article.

  11. Was playing WoW before I tried CoH. Will continue playing it for the forseeable future.

I play on Farstriders, for the record. 'Cause that's where my ingame friends and my sister (who got me into the game) are all holed up.

I've talked with some folks who were playing Cryptic games around the time their CS department got folded into PWE's system.

General sentiment is the service quality took a nosedive under PWE.

  15. Really is a darn shame about this game shutting down. Where else are you going to find a coherent discussion regarding genetic predispositions toward pizza preference?

However an emulator will probably show up in the next years allowing us some nostalgia but it will probably be very broken until a lot of efforts, coordination and time to finally make it playable.
And then NCSoft will smack it down with a C&D.

This fight was over before we knew it had started. The lord-high-muck-a-mucks made their decision, and we never got a say on it.

There's nothing left to give up on.

We'll see how long that lasts against the Great American Moral Crusade(TM). They've already overturned decisions to legalize stuff conservatives don't like in several states.

We are. Mainly because that means STO's content development will at least be moving up from "zero" to "token effort".

Different base of operations, same MO. Thanks for nitpicking, but I stand by what I said. PWE is nearly identical to NCSoft in every aspect that matters.

you get the rep by playing the game.
Again, a straight-up lie. The dailies have nothing whatsoever to do with the rest of the game other than the fact that every expansion-relevant PvE vendor is gated behind them. You can't fill out your professions or spend your valor without spending hours a day, every day, for several weeks straight on pure busywork. Unless you're a pure PvPer, your gameplay experience is gimped until that grind is done.

Rep dailies are a pure grind. They're not "playing the game". They're the crap you have to get through in order to play the game.
  22. I think a lot of the issues with Cryptic's game development of late stem from the fact that they're owned by Perfect World Entertainment, a company cut from very similar cloth to NCSoft. They have the same Korean-style mindset of "We are infallible and people should be bowing down and worshipping us for giving them a chance to pay ridiculous amounts of money for a marginal edge in our endless-grindfest games!"

CO really doesn't fit PWE's cookie-cutter mold for what an MMO should be, so they hand resources out with an eyedropper and wait for it to crumble so they can try to shunt the playerbase into properties that DO fit the cookie-cutter.

More to the point, Valor Points are worthless regardless of source unless you do those dailies.

Every single Valor Point item in MoP is gated behind Pandaria faction reputations - to be able to spend them, you HAVE to spend weeks (literally) grinding out the various faction reps first.

Imagine the entire Incarnate system being gated behind your character clearing 300 iterations of the Midnighter arc, and you get the idea.
