*SPOILERS* Who is this? *SPOILERS*
As nifty as Penny looks, I have to wonder how exactly she is, in any way, qualified to be a member of Paragon City's premier super group. I suppose the Phalanx is in such dire straights that they're forced to recruit what by all accounts should be a rookie hero.

Hmn, costume is cool, but I agree on losing the open midriff...OR losing the connecting band things. They make it look a little odd, somehow. Possibly due to colour clash in the black/white/red thing, not sure.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

If Primal Penelope is the daughter of Vanessa DeVore the way Praetorian Penelope is, then being 18 in Faultline says...unfortunate things...about Wu Yin's taste in women: Vanessa was somewhere between the ages of 9 and 15 when Penelope was conceived.
If she was 14, that's better: a 30-something Wu Yin being involved with a college-student Vanessa is far less disturbing. |
Poor Clockwork King. He may just bust a gear with her wearing that outfit!
I think we need an intervention arc where we convince CK to move on and find a girl who isn't only going to call him when she needs rescue from the Rikti!

This clears some things up, and raises a whole new set of questions.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
More close up screenshots of her.
Now I hope they are going to add some new faces like these. Damn that would rock so much. And that hair!
Very nice, thank you, Quinzel.
So. First in the next next generation of super-heroes, I guess. Penny was introduced in November of 2006. It is really weird to see someone you know grow up like that.
I'm okay with this. *thumbs up*

not really digging the arrangements of the colors
Current active characters: Dragon Maiden (50+3 Brute SS/WP/PM), Black Widow Maiden (50+1 Night Widow), Catayclasmic Ariel (50 lvl Defender - Kin/DP), Quantumshock (50 lvl Elect/Energy/Energy), American's Defender (38 lvl Tanker - SD/Mace), Spider-Maiden (15 lvl Corruptor - RB/PD) & Siren Shrike (15 lvl Defender - Sonic/Sonic). My entire stable.
Also, with Penny joining the Freedom Phalanx officially, this means a joke rant I had about the unfortunate (and obviously accidental), racist undertones of the Phalanx's membership. (BAB is not an official member meaning all members of the Phalanx were White Caucasians, though with Statesman's death BAB may be officially a member now)

After Positron made such a big deal about it (even changing BAB's display in the missions where he appears to not say <Freedom Phalanx>), it seems they have already forgotten. Being a pallbearer makes sense as he was a good friend of Statesman, but in the unfinished SSA he's attending what is explicitly called a "Freedom Phalanx meeting".
I didn't think to check his association there, is he still listed as <Independents> or did it revert back?
I'd also guess that Psyche is either dead, still comatose, or forced into early retirement due to the psychic bomb that Malaise planted/awakened. Manticore didn't seem quite as bitter as I would think he'd be if she'd died, so possibly the latter -- taking a break from superheroing to deal with the trauma.
Of course like Beast Mastery I'm sure they'll say this is still in "early development" and "subject to change". So don't be making canon assumptions from it.
/wonders whose cube will be targeted by the rockets this time
PS. For the record, I actually am a fan of the outfit. It's a bit punky and while not overboard on the sexy, seems like something an 18/19 year old declaring independence would wear to make a statement.
Some thoughts:
1). I wonder if Penelope will get a code/hero name. Think that'd be better than just using her normal name.
2). I was thinking of why Sister Psyche might not be there and thought about stuff from SSA #1, and a thought occurred: Maybe she's pregnant and unable to do the heroing stuff for a while. We did see when we were in her head that she really wanted to have children. Maybe with the maturation of Penelope, she saw that she could leave the mental/psychic stuff to her for now and start a family with Justin. Just a thought.

Yeah, I"m on the side of 'too busy' for Penny's costume. As well as struck by how the outfit screams "LOOK AT THE BIKINI... IT STANDS OUT AND SHOUTS 'HERE I AM' AT YOU!!!!'
Basically, it just needs color reassignment to make the bikini 'fit' and not 'jump out.' It can be done in lots of ways, some suggestions:

She reminds me of one of the older Radeon Girls....

Edit: I must say that the costume in general looks quite a bit less provocative in the detailed closeups than in the funeral picture.

I'm not so sure how well The clockwork king can train anyone.

I like her costume exactly the way it is. It's got a great, "More than a sidekick, less than a hero," vibe to it, I think.

I like her outfit. She looks like she plays a lot of jRPGs and watches a borderline unhealthy amount of cartoons. I like that in a sexy penny. Also I find her to be sexy without being sexist. I would also like to see her on a motorcycle ^_^,.
I quite like the black tights version. I still would have liked something a bit more conservative. For all the talk of this being 4 or 5 years after Faultline, it's still something of a jump for a character whose prior in-game personality has such a child-like innocence.
Edit: I must say that the costume in general looks quite a bit less provocative in the detailed closeups than in the funeral picture. |
well technically at most the game launched in 2004 which means that any character in the game is 7 or less years old that is a super hero pretty much. Remember that most of the supers died off in 2004 with such a small number remaining as to call a few the surviving 8. I'd say there's only maybe 20 or 30 heroes that survived the First Rikti War. Most of them are part of other groups, such as Vangaurd, or not really capable of action like Hero-1, or have since died like Statesman...
So 4 years is if we're talking by the "new" generation of heroes she's a decent candidate... unfortunately in game she hasn't done anything that warrants the players to go "yeah she's awesome and deserves to part of the most iconic team in the world" but worse yet is that the players are all more experienced than her as if we accept faultline was 4 years ago and all heroes play through it then all characters are her superior cuz they were heroes before her.
So yeah... she shouldn't be joining the Phalanx imo... I'd say go with Blue Sentinal or Jim Tremblor or Fusionette or one of the Vindicators or Coyote ^.^ or any other number of people that are probably better candidates experiences wise.
To me, the darker parts with the straps and plates say "Clockwork", and the red bits say "Carnie".

I love this new look for Penelope Yin. I think the art team did an amazing job, especially with her face.
Wondering if this means the Penelope contact in Faultline will change, or if this is just for Praetorian Penelope, or if the Faultline arc is just going to be one of those in-game continuity things (you run the arc at x level, and by the time you get around to 50, Penelope has grown into this new character much the way your own character has grown in power and stature.)
If she was 14, that's better: a 30-something Wu Yin being involved with a college-student Vanessa is far less disturbing.
I really don't mean to sound negative, I really like the Penelope Yin character, and I'm happy she'll be getting a bit more development...
Just, liking her already, I really want the best for her, ya know?
