Grey pants that match the grey of her top, so red/grey theme everywhere. But only if the bottom matches the same gauzy sort of grey the top is.

And, I like the midline suspenders. They are cute and totally early 20s hipster. Overall I approve of new Penny 95%.

I believe that's the hair from the upcoming Spring Fling pack.

Since that model has been around at least since Issue 21.5 (Minds of Mayhem version anyway), it might be fair to say that the Spring Fling pack includes Penelope's hair.

I think she MAY have a unique texture on it, though. Need to get some close up screenshots for comparison.

It's using the new normal mapping from the Steampuink pack, but it seems to have been refined a bit since then.
Other great details are the fully 3D look for all the straps, buckles and edges, the seams on the legs and cups, the slight creasing around the neck, and the subtle occulsion around parts like the leg armor.

Wondering if this means the Penelope contact in Faultline will change, or if this is just for Praetorian Penelope, or if the Faultline arc is just going to be one of those in-game continuity things (you run the arc at x level, and by the time you get around to 50, Penelope has grown into this new character much the way your own character has grown in power and stature.)
This is Primal Penny - and Faultline ends at 25, and this arc starts at 30 - that's way too short for a few years to have passed

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

Verrrry interesting theory. In fact, this makes a lot of sense. I think that would be a great place to take their ongoing story, and it could provide an upcoming point of happiness in a season of loss for Paragon City. If it does happen, my bet's on a girl they name Alexis.

As for Penny's new costume, I actually like it. I love the little straps and buckles! Wonder if they move with her body as she moves?

PS I wonder why Blue Steel got stuck back in the nosebleed section.

PPS I don't see Maria Jenkins in there and she's supposed to be one of Statesman's oldest friends. Maybe that's her in her old Madame Danger outfit. It still fits!
Penelope Yin has merely manipulated existence itself once or twice, why would she be there?

Blue Steel is not, by lore, really connected to Statesman in any/many ways, so I can see that.

And Maria is too busy trying to figure out how to con us into going through half a dozen dimensions without some toad(y) going "I'm sorry, $Heroname, but our Statesman is in another world!"

The writer/villain inside of me says Penelope can't really be a good hero until she experiences some kind of personal tragedy.

Finding Mr. Yin's head on a stick?
Hmm. Too extreme.

Tragic motor scooter accident?
Not extreme enough.

"Dear Penny. Your mom's alive and she's a psychotic in charge of a gang of colorful hookers!"
Mmmm. This one is juuuust right.

Personally, I don't like the idea that heroes have to have a personal tragedy in their history to justify their desire to be a hero. Personal tragedy works very well for some characters (like Batman and Spider-Man) but I don't think that should be the motivation for every character. Then every character would start to be just variations on the same thing.

DC Comics has started doing that recently and I don't like it. They decided to kill off Ma and Pa Kent to give Superman a personal tragedy. But a lot of fans hate that idea. Superman doesn't need a personal tragedy to be a hero. He's Superman!

Just look at our world. Not everyone choose to become a policeman, fire fighter, soldier, volunteer, etc. because of a tragedy.

Because having your planet be blown up, being an outcast growing up, not being able to get with Lana or Lois, Having your first love die, and being treated as a menace as you save lives... isn't tragic enough!

I didn't say it WASN'T Penny in the picture. I just said that it couldn't be determined clearly from the picture.

PS I also said it wasn't clear whether or not she was with Longbow while being surrounded by people that were insisting that the red and white colors, along with her not standing too far away from the Longbow in attendance, meant that she was DEFINITELY a member of Longbow and there could be no other reason to wear red and white.

I don't really have a problem with the costume. It's not really my cup of tea but I can appreciate the texturing and the fact that it sort of echoes teen Penleope's fashion sense. I honestly would have expected her to go more Sailor Senshi but the devs apparently consider her to be a lot more mature than I ever did.

In any case - the problem I have is that there's no personal development to explain this. As a case in point, I'd reference a fellow member of the Faultline Rat Pack, Fusionette. She and Jim Temblor made their presence felt outside of the Faultline story arc, and they did it in ways that showed a progression paralleling that of a character who might be leveling up through Faultline and then into the Rikti plotlines. I don't have much problem considering Fusionette as a young woman in her twenties because she was older to start with, and we watched her mature as we matured ourselves.

This Penny thing feels like a bolt out of the blue. Maybe the existence of her Praetorian counterpart is supposed to provide the connecting thread to this updated Primal character. As a player who hasn't done much in First Ward and who never encountered the other Penelope, I don't feel any connection at all between this new, older Penelope and the teen Penny I've always "known" in Faultline.

Sure, you can say "She's the most powerful psychic in the world!!!!!!!!11111" but, so what? Since when is that a qualification to join the Freedom Phalanx? It might be a qualification for the Phalanx to feel like they need to babysit you in order to keep an eye on you, I suppose...

It's very likely many of you went and jumped on Beta and played through this arc already. It's our fault it was published and we're taking steps to ensure it doesn't happen again. We're going to edit out some specific references as well as any screenshots that we do not feel focuses on the character in question.

Let's refrain from sharing any further details about the arc here on the general forums.

For those asking about Penny's new face, we're going to be introducing a new normal mapped Asian female face with the Imperial Dynasty costume set, so be sure to keep an eye out for that to hit the Paragon Market if it interests you.

No normal mapped male Asian face? I'm pretty sure that's a costume part almost all the females wouldn't object to being made exclusively male

One new normal mapped female and male face per costume pack would be great - I like the effect of them - but they haven't added one that suits me yet - so adding more with each pack would be really cool

What caliber of ammunition?

Seriously...
Time to lock this thread down. It's served its purpose. We know who she is. I can't think of anything BUT spoilers to be discussed further.

O Fortune's cruel irony. The devs never pay attention to my threads, but this one gets a record amount of interaction and I'm calling for it to be shut down.

Ah. I didnt play SSA3 or 4 yet (just 1, 2 and 5), but having just read a spoiler on Facebook, now I know why Sister Psyche and Manticore arent present. My bad, although now I'm wondering if theyll be replaced in I23 as well.

I really need to stop letting work and my publishing deadlines get in the way of my CoH time.
