I like the white - it ties in with her Faultline colors, as well as with Praetorian Penny's Seer outfit - plus, it also looks quite a lot like riding pants, which makes her a horse-loving psychic, which are the best kind

I get it now! Penny's costume looks like it does because she's a fan of Testsuya Nomura, the dothack franchise, and likely other Asian pop culture shows.

Also, I kind of wished Penny had joined WISDOM, that's a group that seriously need more members, especially members that appear in-game, or maybe have WISDOM merge with the Phalanx, because seriously, there might as well be only two people in WISDOM right now since Rose Star and Spark Blade never even get mentioned in-game.

It seems you did not watch the last Superman movie.

Also a lot of that article after the shotgun parts are going way too far, super seed is not capable of flight or super speed and no matter how young a super infant can show powers the embryo will not be absorbing sunlight directly.

I imagine that Penny must be really stuck on Golden Age/Silver Age comic book heroes given that none of her most likely role models are of the "underwear on the outside" variety.

In any case, the circus strongman look has a very specific cultural origin. Penny's look is like literally wearing your underwear on the outside. "My outfit didn't look like Swan's so I just put Swan's clothes on over the top."

Let me ask you this - War Witch wears a corset, pretty much, on her upper body, but she wears pants on her lower half, and the corset is very much colored as part of the whole outfit. It's not given a contrasting color or highlighted in some way that says "Hey, Look! These are BREASTS that I'm covering!"

What would your impression of War Witch be if you had opened that first issue of CoH and she had been wearing a dayglow corset and a bikini brief instead of pants? Would you feel the same way about her as you do today? Would you view her activities in the comic quite the same way?

You can't divorce a hero entirely from their appearance. I had this very forcibly brought home to me when I happened across a painting of Wonder Woman by some modern comic artist or another. Her uniform had been converted from the classic depiction into something that resembled a very tight, very small swimsuit that left almost nothing to the imagination. It technically had all the details of the classic uniform and could be said to be "appropriate" if one felt like arguing about it, but there was no question that it was intended to evoke a sexual response in the viewer. (I'm not sure the details are appropriate to the forum, but let's say that the lower body coverage was scanty.)

Clearly, this is not nearly as extreme as that, but in a way it's even worse. Penny's uniform covers up all of her "naughty bits" and then tries to purposely draw attention to them anyway, as if she somehow can't be recognized as a female person unless we have it hammered into our heads that, yes, she has all of the appropriately gendered bits underneath the rubber suit.

Well, one person's gratuitous sexuality is another person's terrific costume design. YMMV.

One thing I am rather curious about is that backpack, fuel tank thingy with the pipes coming out of it. I suppose that it could be some sort of travel power since we've never actually seen her levitate (yet).

Didn't see a complete answer to this one, so, here goes:

Missing Phalanx: Manticore, Sister Psyche
Missing Vindicators: Infernal, Valkyrie, Swan
Missing Miscellaneous: Lady Grey, Castle, Mirror Spirit, Foreshadow, Maria Jenkins, Hero 1

There are a slew of other contacts that are obviously missing, but I figured that this covered the major missing notables.

I find your lack of signature disturbing.

I'm jealous that she's wearing what appeara to be a leather belly shirt with a zipper!

I want that! >_>

As for War Witch, did no one think it might be the Pocket D War Witch? *Did not read through entire thread*

Yup. I'd change the white part of leggings to black, and the outfit would look much better (imo). Don't go the one solid color route

Manticore is in the first mission and lets just say him and her dont get along very well

I do like the "attitude" she has though. Will second the thought that its really nice seeing the first of the next generation of heroes come through, it makes it feel more authentic/lifelike

Those white colored thighs make her thighs look fat. Every facemaker is going to laugh at that look. Serge would make her swap those white leggings out for black ones.

Penny: *Death glares them and waves her hand at them* These leggings DON'T make me look fat. *Waves her hand* My style is the pinnacle of fashion. *Waves hand one more time* I totally have a better costume than Fusionette.

Admittedly, I do agree she'd look better with red (but the red would look best with a covered stomach) or black leggings, but those are some of my favorite colors, so I'm biased.
Also, Penny still needs a cool hero name. Any suggestions in this thread?

How about Psyny Penny? No? how about Mind Gamer since she's pretty clearly fan of JRPGs? Or how about Psyin?

Riding pants can be black too :-p

The white shows off the vertical seam. Zombie Man's alternatives make it nearly impossible to see. This may partly be why the devs settled on white. I suspect they explored other color options, just like Zombie Man did.

As for the rest, Penelope's all grown up now, but she's kind of a brat. Not the first time anyone's run into an early 20-something with her disposition. But she just happens to be the most powerful psychic in town, and the Freedom Phalanx are smart to snag her. Frankly, if Penelope were real, and she saw all of the "much too sexy, look at that belly button gasp" grumbling, I'm sure she'd only have one reaction:

Zombie Man's alternatives were done on short notice, with photoshop(most likely) though. Not with the resources that the costume designers have at their disposal. There's no reason to believe that the texturing of the pants wouldn't show well using the actual in-game costume creator.

For example, here's a current textured pant option in-game, shown in both Red and White:

The Defense tights:

And the upcoming Olympian Guard set:

There's no real loss of visual texture until you get into very dark colors which hide the shading. I anything I find the texture more visible on the red than the white.

That's just poor Photoshopping on my part. While black would make them less noticeable, they'd still be seen much more readily in-game on a shiny-textured leather-like tights.

Edit: Oathbound called it!

The article does not take Superman Returns into account on the grounds that it was written 35 years before the movie was released. The article is also a joke, not a rigid scientific study. It couldn't be since it's subject doesn't actually exist.

PS Superman Returns was also a crappy movie. And Superman was a jerk for getting Lois knocked up and then leaving the planet for five years. His stated reason for being gone so long is an obvious lie since everyone and their mother knew that Krypton had been destroyed. He probably just parked that crystal ship on the moon and then flew came back to Earth and lay low for a while, perhaps visiting Gotham and crashing in Bruce Wayne's guest room. And then spending lots of Bruce's money partying and annoying Alfred with statements like, "I like the crust removed from my sandwiches, cut in half diagonally, with one of those sword shaped tootpicks and an olive stuck into each half. Now take this back and make me one the right way!"

I'm split down the middle on this, then (GET IT?).

The black option brings the most color balance, but of course you won't see the seam on black. Seams are cool.

Right Noble-Savage? RIGHT?

Honestly, I liked the white a lot before all of you started picking at it.

Which brings me to my double-post.

We are going to need seams that show up on black tights. Really shiny, upraised seams.
