Ugh.

The use of loaded terms like "hoochy" and "sexual objectification" are part of the problem here; because everytime someone says this I just see Chairman Mao ordering everyone into that same frumpy uniform on pain of literal death.

I don't see everyone being slowly edged into unisex costumes by dint of lack of new feminine creations as "freedom and variety," that looks like LOSS of freedom of choice for me. Some of you act as if we have no unisex stuff now. If you want to do that right this minute, no one is stopping you.

And already we have people complaining about women getting two costumes in the Chinese set. By gorry, they have a point. Strip away [do pardon the pun] that pretty cheongsam [or whatever it is] and hand out that frumpy Mao shirt and pants for both men and women. Can't have any of that naughty objectification, after all.

*facepalm*
How about you listen to the FACT many of us have said we don't want those outfits removed from the game, and instead are asking for nothing more than less of the same in the future.

In short: Stop with over-the-top melodramatic over-reacting, will you?

Even against certain death, it matters not how or if we fight, only that we do.

Most amusing complement I've ever been paid on an outfit, from @Ukase regarding my Blue Eyed She-Devil Anson Maddocs "Fallen Angel" homage:
"She gives my ex-wife a run for the money."

Wow. I could kill about a hundred strawmen in this thread with one fireball...

Some people need to stop blowing stuff way, WAY out of context like the freaking Spanish Inquisition are after them.

So... are they going to turn Dark Astoria into another First Ward, where it's pointless to be there unless you're VIP or a bored street sweeper?

Got a bad feeling that Premiums are going to get a major drought, save for a trial that could be amazing or a 3-map pity token with dull mechanics straight out of Architect.

The new powersets sound nice, but again, with the way VIP-slanted content releases seem post-F2P, it seems that purchasing the power sets as premium is a terrible value because you can get bored more easily due to lack of non-VIP content.

I've got way more stuff to do in game while my husband looks for a new job now then I did the last time our budget got tightened.

"Less of the same in the future" = fewer choices in the future.

Don't know why that's so hard to understand.

If you dislike what I have to say, you have access to Ignore. Thank you.

I'm looking forward to the epic wailing over the fact that the new Chinese set has the female model showing part of her midriff, which will commence as soon as it hits beta. Objectification! Do pardon the pun. Or not, your freedom of choice.

Of course, if you actually paid attention to the "epic wailing" last time, the big issue that I saw was that the male costume could easily work for female characters too.

Which, if you were paying attention to the Ustream or any of the real discussion on the topic of the Imperial Dynasty set, is that there's a female version of the armor portion of the set too.

Wavicle, Energy/Energy Blaster, dinged 50 in Issue 4, summer of 2005.
@Wavicle, mostly on the Justice server.

Hyperbole aside, there's nothing wrong with showing skin. Diabolique's new look doesn't look "skanky" in the least. Less clothes =/= automatically skank. "Skank" is much more so in the attitude rather than the clothes alone. She's not looking flirty or making suggestive poses. In fact she's oozing with matronly authority and ready to smite whoever stands in her way.

Are the bushwomen in Africa "skanks" because they wear less clothes than women in most other areas of the world? No. It's all in the attitude.

That said, it's not like this is some kind of costume set where women get only a metal bikini and men get fullplate. If that happens, then you can complain. No, this is a canon character and the devs are free to make her look any way they want. Frankly I think they chose right with the Maleficent/Evil-Lyn vibe they have going for her.

New Teleporter Pad: The new Hacked Telepad and Magicked Telepads are available for bases. These new telepads cost more Prestige to build, but allow Super Group members to teleport to six zones per telepad instead of two.
wow, /thumbsup

edit: Wow, TUT improvements are also totally fabulous.

Yeah, that's why I personally avoid using the words like skanky, hoochy, whatever, in these discussions. Because there's nothing wrong with skin! Also I dislike them in general.

But sometimes it gets a little too objectifying/certain male fantasy and less about making any sense and it gets really skeevy.

I do like her a lot from the shoulders up. I mean, the furnace is kinda ridiculous, but it's a good ridiculous.

EDIT: Also, I was doing the beta intro mission to DA and it pleased me I could do the entire thing with the coyote travel power. I was pretending I was Diefenbaker from Due South.

Really? 'Cause I like her loincloth and boots too. Devs, seriously, when're we as players gonna get some flowing loincloth action?

Oh oh! In the golden age/silver age thread, I suggested using the loincloth long to create a long leg slit type gown like you see old school comic femme fatales wear.

Cool, great suggestion! I like that style of gown.

It's funny, the local Fox affiliate is going to the same old well, running teasers this afternoon on the dangers of comics corrupting our kids with sex, violence, etc. Seems they don't realize that kids aren't really reading them.

(I also don't know how often "kids" would be exposed to them. The only way mine can get to the comic shop is if I drive them. And it's not totally true that they don't read comics - they love Tiny Titans.)

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

What do you expect? It's a Fox affiliate.

All this gnashing about objectification, and no one's complained yet about =another= co-op zone?

--NT

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

If I became a red name, I would be all "and what would you mere mortals like to entertain me with today, mu hu ha ha ha!" ~Arcanaville

Given that heroes and villains each have their own contacts and story arcs in DA, it's not exactly a co-op zone so much as a single zone where all the action is.

Without giving away any spoilers, the arcs have several places in them where players can choose to be good or evil - for example, I'm pretty sure that the final choice in the last arc will satisfy a lot of villains.
In the final mission of another arc, it can be made a lot easier and faster by running 3 lead-up missions to free 3 prisoners belonging to a certain group who are being held captive by 3 different groups - but 1 of the groups holding them would be morally hard for a hero to fight, while the prisoners themselves might also cause moral problems for heroes - but vilalins will have no moral problems using the prisoners' help, or fighting the different groups holding them.

Heck, at this point, I'd be happy with Circle of Thorns skirt minus the side skirts. Or a stiff front piece like the CoT skirt with a butt cape.

I wish they would do this to all Red/Blue zones.

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars

I will go VIP the month Issue 22 comes out. It looks so good. So very good. I think Issue 22 and I would have a very fulfilling love life, but it does not return my calls.
