Discussion: Featured Items at the Paragon Market - 11/1/11
Even for a learning process, you should (at least) start in the right general ballpark. Next time there's a big meeting, ask the person who proposed this idea to explain why they thought it would be a good idea. I'm having trouble coming up with even a strained justification.
One of my local restaurants has a daily special that provides variety, but somehow they have still never attempted Turd Sandwich Thursday. |
thank you.
... Hit it ...
Technically, it IS a 100 point discount on just getting 5x Self Revive and 5x Precise (Large Acc/Dam) dual insps, ignoring everything else.
Not saying I'd buy it... consumables are generally priced much too highly in the store. But if you're going to complain about the price of the Undead Survival Kit as a whole, then you need to get to the root of the problem and complain about the cost of the individual pieces: 5x Revival (Self Rez) -- 200 PP 5x Precises (Large Acc/Dam) Dual Insp -- 300 PP Holy Shotgun Shells (75 Charges) -- 80 PP St. Louis Slammer (30 Charges) -- 20 PP Warwolf Whistle (5 Charges) -- 80 PP |
"Life is what happens when you are making other plans"
It's discussions like the ones going on in this thread that convinced the developers that the players are a bunch of childish whiners who don't know what's good for themselves. The more people complain about things like this, more we get things like, "Of course the players want more mega-raids; the people who don't are just a bunch of whiners" (feel free to insert whatever development priority you dislike for "mega-raids" there if you are a raid fan in order to understand the sense of the sentence).
Maybe it's the involvement of money, even if people aren't actually spending it. Personally, if something isn't costing me anything (and this won't, if I don't buy it), I don't see what there is to be upset about.

I thought 'new' meant 'new'.
Sorry for being cheeky, but there was a lot of noise made about something new each week. A bundled sale ain't new. Although, I'm not surprised. I didn't think you could put out 52 new things a year anyway. And this is a relief for those panicking that their monthly stipend was barely scratching the surface of all the new stuff. It's a chance to save for really new stuff. And with regard to Temp Powers in general in the Store, I think they are overpriced anyway. I regard a permanent power to be worth 10 times a temp power. And a power that is for all toons to be worth 10 times one for just one account. If a permanent Rocket Board for all alts was 600 points, then the normal price of temporary War Whistle for just one character should be 6 points. And this is too late a themed pack if the Halloween Event is ending tomorrow as scheduled. |
The upside is I get to save my points for another week.

Many are assuming this came from the marketing side, or worse, NCSoft.
Just a general ribbing from the peanut gallery.

Oh wow, this batch of items is even weaker than last week, GJ lol.
I like how the shotgun seems to use the frankengun model (I assume it's the exact same temp heroes get on Striga island), I mean there is a shotgun temporary power in the game that actually looks like shotgun. Although I doubt it would remedy much.
Not much to get excited about, but nothing to get upset about either. Well... nothing except the timing. I'm not sure why they waited until after Halloween for this one. Did they not realize Halloween was yesterday? Then again, this is the same Dev team that give us a Spring Fling that ends weeks before Spring officially begins, so maybe they just don't understand how calendars work at Paragon Studios. :-)
Last week I bought one of the costume codes (the Rikti Mentalist), and despite the forum proclaiming them complete rip-offs at that price, I didn't feel cheated in the slightest. Likewise, I do very much like the War Wolf Whistle as a purchasable power. Assuming it's sold separately (and it looks like it is), then I'll seriously consider buying it for a character or two.

I'm just going to post what I wrote last weak (intended)
!!?? hahahaha keep it.
oh yeah constructive feedback:
Your perceived value on this product is a bit high.
I'm probably just irritated because I've been itching for something to spend points on in the market and nothing since Street Justice has interested me one bit. I'm looking forward to some non-melee powersets (it's really too bad the time manipulation sounds make me grind my teeth or else I'd try it) and some costume piece bundles. Yeah, we got the Halloween bundle a few weeks ago, but nothing in it appealed to me. Think I got the bats aura just in case I wanted to make a goth character down the road after the Halloween event was over.
Really chomping at the bit for that Gunslinger set, if the concept art is anything to go off of and I think a lot of people were hoping that it would be coming out this week.
But, if Titan Weapons was supposed to have been this week, but it wasn't ready, I wish they would have just switched it with another week that had stuff ready to go instead of making this weak consumable bundle that will be useless after tomorrow.

LOL, 10 pages of people ******** and people ******** about people ********. What fun.
Ok so the pack itself is kinda neat but yeah, it's far far too late, and far far over costed. Does that actually affect me? No, I won't buy it, it's just not worth it. I've got better powers to use for blasts and pets on several different characters. But I do think it sets bad precedence for what devs/marketing considers a 'fair value' for the product.
There's just no way this is worth 5$ and it's kind of a rip off, even for 'newbies'. In fact, especially for newbies, there are TONS of items in the market that would be more worth their while, from Costume Packs to Powers to even the SSA unlocks.
This isn't worth any more than a dollar (80pp) and even that is probably stretching it. Maybe if it were bundled together with the Halloween costume pack or something.
Hopefully players will 'vote' enough by *not* buying it so they get the idea that this isn't a good idea or good deal.
Frankly, I'm not that surprised, as has said, 52 weeks of 'omgallnew' content is probably a far stretch. Though really I don't think that was the 'real' plan, it seems much more their main plan is 1 major update a month that includes new arcs/costumes/powers/etc with the 3 weeks in between just small time stuff that they've likely just dusted the cobwebs off of.
If this is the best you can do for a week, then dont release anything at all.

Remember: Guns don't kill people; Meerkats kill people.
I was excited for Titan Weapons to go live today, after seeing it in my power selection screen this morning. This is just disappointing.
While the pack itself is mediocre, it might have generated some impulse buys if it had launched prior to the Hallowe'en event and Zombie Apocalypse. People would have been lured to the shinies and spent a few more dollars. As is, with the event ending tomorrow this is as enjoyable as having a babel fish rammed into my ear when surrounded by like native speakers.
Will be skipping this one.

Are is it only one whistle/etc to be claimed on a single?
And how can I tell which from the description?
Oh and this sooo should of been available at the start of halloween events
If you guys had thrown a chainsaw in there somewhere and some weapon customization and other costume pieces this would of been a pretty cool pack to buy. As always though, you guys have consumable prices backwards compared to other mmos.
Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.
Zwill, for future reference:
If you had dropped the inspirations and sold just the temps for around half the price, it MIGHT have been interesting.
But I think the population, including me, just finds spending $5 on Temps that are easily obtainable in-game via crafting or Ouro to be a bit too much to swallow. And yeah, having this at the beginning of the holiday would have been more palattable then the day before it all ends.
Feel free to pass that on to the Paragon Market team.
