I recommend you update any ongoing support ticket with "Still waiting" every 48 hours until it's resolved UNLESS they mention a timeline - then you bug after that time has passed - just to make sure the ticket doesn't get closed.

I was subscribed continously since last December, and the last of the Sept. 13th points are the ones with the reward bonus as you will notice.

The monthly Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded differently. They follow the same schedule as the old Veteran Reward program. This means you may not receive them on the same date that you receive your monthly VIP Paragon Rewards Points. Veteran rewards were calculated based on the time your game account was actually playable with active paid game time, and not just based on your bill date. Just as a temporary block changed your Veteran Reward dates, these types of things changes to your game account will also change the date you receive your monthly VIP Paragon Reward Tokens. You also have to play out the month of game time before receiving the tokens. You may pay for time in advance, but you have to play out the time before you receive your next reward. |
But this token business needs to change; I'm having a real hard time figuring out why I should maintain a subscription being all tiered out already, knowing I can get bonus points for purchases (given immediately) and for every $15 worth of purchase I get a token as well (again, given immediately). If I'm wrong about any of this, please correct me. I have to be missing something, right? Toss on top of that, I really don't know when I'm going to actually get this token via subscription .... because I've already surpassed my old veteran schedule and still have not gotten a token. If it's based off yet another thing, that's just adding fuel to the fire.
Change the system for subscriptions:
* Token given at the beginging of the cycle
* Points given at the begining of the cycle

I saw that I'd finally received my points last night when I checked the Paragon Marketplace, which promptly locked up my CoH client. Come on.

Other than that it seems most everything else is purchasable.
I am having the same thoughts about subscribing.
Because premiums get their points right away, they are able to get more value out of their point because they have more time to play with what they can buy with them.
Getting my entire allotment of points in a lump means that for all of the next year, I will be able to enjoy w/e I want to buy with point as soon as it come available. I will be able to enjoy the items for the entire duration. That means more value, imho, since I will be able to have more enjoyment of the items [more time to enjoy the items].
I'd love to see the devs live up to the challenge that they have given themselves by making a subscription more worthwhile than a big pile of points by adding so much more [/i]useful and appealing[/i] "content" that "comes with" VIP [as opposed to available for purchase by VIP] that it's silly not to be a subscriber.

Yes. You receive your monthly Stipend for the month of gametime you've paid for.
Remember, when you pay your monthly subscription, you're paying for the month to come, not the month that just passed. Since you activated on 9/30 your allotment of points received at that time was for the period of 9/30 - 10/30. When you renew your VIP subscription on 10/30 it will be for the period of time between 10/30 and 11/30. |
And I do want to chime in about the vet tokens as well. These should be awarded at the start of a month (along with points), rather than after. This is confusing to know when you are receiving all your awards properly, and also, I know for a fact that NCSoft is not in the habit of giving refunds for a month paid for... given all that, it makes a lot more sense to provide it ahead of time.
Also, I have to assume there are some times where you award refunds, but you should be able to remove tokens when this happens, anyway... I'm assuming you can for Paragon Points awarded as well.

And count me in as well to those saying - Got points...no token since headstart granted us all our current tokens.
Insult to "injury" - today support marked my ticket 'waiting' and communicated to say that my ticket was resolved. They checked my account today after their resolution was complete yesterday and my points show as being on my account now.
Now, my ticket CLEARLY and repeatedly stated that I understood the Paragon Points stipends would be late and that this was about Paragon TOKENS for the new Veteran system. I wanted it crystal clear that my ticket was not about the points issue. I spelled out my tokens granted at headstart, my NCSoft and game account IDs, the tokens I'd gotten through purchases (all to show that I have 36 tokens on each of two accounts and how I got them all - to show that I wasn't granted any extras at headstart nor have I been granted any since headstart), I spelled out my billing date vs my old Veteran date.
So... not that it has been a month since we were switched to this token system for vet rewards and I haven't gotten a token on either of my two accounts - and it is now 12 days after I should have gotten my tokens. What's the bug there Z? Can you go to bat for us about tokens as well please? Because based on what I'm seeing here - there's still a pretty big issue with tokens.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have my points stipend, but I really want the token per acct so I can get all three Celestial set packs (I'm waiting for any of them until I have 3 tokens to spend - I've been sitting on two tokens per acct since just after headstart and counting the days until the tokens I should have seen on the 1st.)
I did update my ticket to say "Nope, not fixed, please READ my ticket?" and still more details. I am trying to be nice and not bite when I talk to support, but this is getting annoying. Under the old vet system I'd have gotten my 81 month badge on Oct 1 - since I'd been eagerly counting down to Return to Battle under that system (and yes, I have it already in this system, but my point still remains that I'm owed a token, and I want it) I was watching the account page for when it should grant - I know my veteran date which makes all this doubly annoying.

I've put in a support ticket myself as I just checked my records and my previous vet rewards were awarded on the 12th of the month for February, May, August (my last Vet Reward date before Issue 21 went live), and November. I didn't get a Reward Token yet.

My billing date is on the 28th. I got 550 points on October 12th.
If your game account has a bill day between the 11th of the month to the 31st of the month, you will receive your Paragon Points on your game accounts billing date, as long as you maintain the VIP status of your game account.

My renewal date was on the 10th, I got my Paragon Points on the 12th but no reward token. The system MUST be recording it somewhere because this token on my main account would have bade me Tier 9 and i did get 550 points on the 12th.
At this point I think they need to just assign a couple people to check every VIP account anbd manually assign tokens. Yeah I know thats a lot of work and extreme but At this point I do not feel confident AT ALL that they can code this correctly. This system should NEVER have gone live in the state it is and it reflects extremely badly on the game.

Zwill I am still thoroughly confused by when the reward token awards. I know the September token was awarded early with the launch of the VIP headstart, but I have not received an October token which I would assume would be for the Sept-Oct. month since it awards at the end of the paid time. But if the token awarded early was for the Sept.-Oct. period does this mean I won't get a token until November?

I think we can all agree that the implementation of the new rewards system, versus the expectations engendered in the community by promotional descriptions before the actual release, compounded by promised fixes being botched and or delayed, constitute a Major Fail.
I personally consider the promotional hype for all tokens up front for multi-month subscriptions, and the lame apology for technical barriers post launch, to be bait-and-switch advertising. I do not know if the actual published information rises to that level of consumer deception, but I do know that bait-and-switch advertising is against the law in the United States, and would hope that the various teams and the marketing department work better together in future. I hope that the number of subscribers who made a purchase decision based on this errant publicity is small and that Paragon and NCSoft will do something for them. I am sure happy I did not have the funds available to be a victim. Why were funds not available? Read on.
We had to buy my wife new glasses, and even with insurance the requred exam and the advanced lenses needed to meet the demands of her work added up to a tidy sum. If a serious company made a mistake(s) like the one(s) under discussion you would get real personal mail, over the printed signature of a senior officer of the corporation, and including a gift certificate. We just got such a letter and were given new replacement lenses valued at $870.00 free. We also got an extra $50.00 gift certificate for our time and trouble. This was in compensation for an error on my wife's new glasses which was not even detectable by us, and would have gone Unnoticed Forever if the company had not felt Obligated to tell her about the defect. It would be nice if Paragon Studios and NCSoft had a standard of customer service that approached that level.
With regard to CS, I would rather go to the dentist than file a support ticket. The CoH support staff is always polite and professional and pretty much useless. Only on the most trivial matters that their expert systems have one button fixes for do they shine. I recently explained at length in an email reply to support about the problem I was having and the work around I develped to solve it. I suggested that they forward my information to the relevant people. In reply to this hopefully helpful info from me they said basically "hey glad you figured that out, and you should repost that info in the dev forum, we here are just support." That was from a Senior Specialist. I get the feeling that support personel are in a dungeon somewhere in a special pocket dimension, studying their primary trainig manual 'The 37 Ways to be Nicely Unhelpful' by Ima Deni, and under strict instructions to avoid contact with the rest of the team at all cost.
So like everyone else it seems, I finally got my points on both accounts and have Not received my Paid For October Tokens. Since the needle on the Fail Meter has already slapped the top hard enough to wrap the pointer round the post (I wonder how many people have even handled an analog meter with a needle and scale now days) I will just patiently wait for the token mess to resolve. If not, on October 31st I'll very reluctantly open two support tickets for my two accounts that have two different and apparently unknowable Token award dates, and take my double dose of (words fail me.)

I did raise a ticket on the 2nd and I had replies, the last being 6 days ago telling me exactly what I told them a week before! They (account support) confirm my eligibility and asked for 24 hours to resolve the award. Still no action. Anybody else had their missing badge awarded please? Still not holding my breath for any meaningful result in the near future. And not impressed! Thank you |

The original Paragon Rewards announcemant from July 21st is still on the news archive, and also the Announcements Forum on July 21st from Beastyle. The linked pages inside those announcements that specifically described the up front loading of tokens for multi-month subs are no longer available. Error 404. This is quite proper as they are in error and have been superceeded by what is actually happening. Below is the clarification and apology from Zwil on Sept. 12.

Since announcing City of Heroes Freedom weve been extremely excited to share all of the new features coming with Issue 21, one of the most exciting being the Paragon Rewards Program.
Weve fielded several questions over the last several weeks about the Paragon Rewards Program, one of which being about how Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded for players who purchase Multiple Month Subscription plans. Our original design, and what weve been sharing, is that VIP players who purchased multi month subscription plans would be awarded all Paragon Reward Tokens at the time of purchase. Unfortunately due to technical limitations that we have been unable to overcome, this will not be the case. Instead, VIP players who purchase multiple month subscription plans will receive their Paragon Rewards Token each month on their billing cycle, at the same time they receive their monthly allotment of Paragon Points. Please note that Paragon Reward Tokens granted by the purchase of Paragon Points will grant at the time of purchase.
We do sincerely apologize that we were not able to launch Issue 21 with this feature and will continue to endeavor to implement it in the future.

In re-reading this communication I find that characterizing it as "lame" is a bit harsh, and will in turn give a sincere apology to Andy.
However I cannot help but note that the quoted message above says that Tokens will be granted at the same time as points on your billing date. I sure would hate to have a job where I constantly go before the public with bad information and then have to explain it away somehow. Andy, after this you should consider doing the same thing for big bucks and become a Presidential spokesman.
