  1. Thanks for the replies.

For the time being I decided to just run this DXP weekend PL'ed experimental alt with whatever random IO sets I had and I put six Brute's Fury in Precise Strike for now.

After I get a better feel for the combo I'll post an actual build attempt.

  2. I like the HP mechanic just fine, and would be a lot more interested in a discussion of an optimum 6 slot strategy for the power (anybody got a link to that?) Changes to this power now probably have a % chance of zero, at least for a very long time. That would have been a Beta thing I'm thinking.

As for wetness-dryness and/or thirstyness, that should be added when we get hungeryness and/or fullness-emptyness.

I expect all that will be in the Issue 31 (Fabulous Flavors) release --- where CoX becomes the first game to introduce virtual Fast Food Franchises (vFFF) and starts selling in-game locations to all the big chains as an advertising gimmick for them, and added revenue stream for CoX allowing even more great content for us.

  3. Also - I thought that if you had Hasten at say 115 sec. recharge so as to be fully perma, including recast time, such that it always replaces itself before expiration, you could avoid the endurance crash. But that does not seem to be the way it works anymore. Was it changed or is my memory just failing?

  4. Based on the info in this thread I bought 5 months of Invention License for my 2nd account that has to be un-subbed a while. Thanks Snowglobe!

This is the second time we have had to stop the sub on the wife's account and I have previously purchased the invention license twice.

Using the / command you listed I was able to confirm the expiration date after the purchase. The entry was -

    Invention License (30 day) 7 0 2013-01-16 02:33:00 COLIINVN

The 7 must reflect the prior two plus the new five (so it tracks the grand total ever bought perhaps,) and the 0 shows what must be 0 of the new 5 used because the expire date is correct. So I decided to mention it here because if that is how it works it might confuse some people. It confused me till I puzzled it out.
  5. Working on a Staff / Dark build. First alt with either power set.

Is there a consensus on which Staff power makes best use of the Fury Proc, or should it be in the Death Shroud Damage Aura?

Skipping Taunt as going to almost always run solo. If skipping a 2nd Staff Power, what should a Brute with Dark Armor pass on?

Is it worth considering the use of Oppresive Gloom to stack with the two stun attacks in Staff. After trying to look at builds from when the set came out, it seems most skip Gloom. If the correct attack power to skip above is one of the stuns I would guess Gloom would be out for sure. But if I would be retaining two stuns would Gloom work then? Having no exp with DA I don't know how rough the Hit Points lost to Gloom are.

    Thanks

  6. Our supergroup runs the Kahn TF pretty often, say every 8-9 weeks. The last two runs were normal except the final fight, which seemed Much harder.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Is it possible the Reichsman has had an undocumented AI upgrade, as opposed to a change in any raw stats to account for this?

Or has our SG just had a temp DeBuff to our MoJo?

    Jak
  7. Our 2nd account had to go un-subbed for a while.

Can we purchase more than one of the on sale invention and auction licenses to bridge the gap till we can resub? ie: can you 'stack' the invention and auction house licenses?

    Jak
  8. In my experience with builds having the ability to slot multiple PS procs (like in this instance - Stamina and Superior Conditioning) it feels like the recovery benefit is a lot smoother and more reliable.
  9. My 3rd 50 was a Rad/MM blaster with S/L soft capped and perma-Hasten + perma-Drain Psyche. It was the first alt I had that Really felt Super.

While the -Def is not always that effective it does mean you can work the -Resist Achilles Heel and Fury of the Gladiator procs into the build in multiple places if you wish.

I am really looking forward to a respec of this toon after the I 24 changes and with the -KB.

Cosmic Burst and Psychic Shockwave give you a stacking Stun combo, and since I use the Fighting Pool to help get softcap I could rework the enhanced Boxing for a 3 stun ST chain. Gonna be fun.

    Jak
  10. Making any build decisions about any procs at this time leaves you hanging depending on the results of the upcoming change to PPM for all procs.

From practical experience I had two in ST attacks on a high recharge Rad blaster for a long time, and really could not see any significant advantage. I unslotted and have just one now.

I have only tried it in an AoE with Freezing Rain, and it was not that great there either.

  11. While it is perfectly true that there is no place else to get CoH product, it is also true that some people will spend their leisure dollars on some other pastime if they can't make a purchase naoooow. It is the nature of modern instant gratification society. That is why I included "I wonder" in the title of the thread. I am certain that there were some sales lost, and various posters may be correct in their Assumption that the numbers and amounts lost are trivial, but we are all just speculating.

Certainly none of us who love the game are going to quit over a typical updating goof (scheduled 12 - actual 20+?). They will certainly get my re-subscription on my 2nd account down the road someday, when the opportuninty to use a 2nd computer recurs.

And, I was certainly disappointed. I frankly hope that they in fact suffered a non-recoverable and substantial loss of revenue (say 10-20 thousand dollars perhaps,) such that in future they will spend the planning dollars necessary to prevent a repeat of yesterday's botch up. But that is just old fashioned me. Modern practice in on-line is that the vast majority of your consumer base is pre-conditioned and numb to recurring customer service issues that would bankrupt a car dealership or other 3D service industry in nothing flat. Making the real beta test the first 1-2 months of a new release is normal, leaving serious bugs un-repaired for months or years if they effect a small enough number of users, the same.

I was just raised in a family owned retail business, with an infintely higher standard of what you owe the people who put bread on your table.

Being almost 60 years old in a world dominated by a demographic that I would guess averages 20-30 is refreshing and helps keep me feeling youthful most of the time, but sometimes it also forces me to realize that the future of the world, and more particulary the USA, is in the hands of people who in many ways have no clue what the world was and should be like. I am sure every older person gets that feeling from time to time, and the rare old caveman over 50 undoubtly thought the mammoths he hunted tasted better that the scrawny runts the boys are bringing back now.

  12. The store bought PS proc is already PPM and I have several, since when it was introduced it was Much better than the regular. I foolishly thought this was WAI to give people an incentive to spend. Of course they fixed it, and it is now about equal to or slightly better than the IO, as long voids seem to be less common. Another thing to consider in the Proc vs steady comparison is that the proc will grant its full endurance when you are recovery debuffed.

The Proc is not a flat 10 points, it was changed quite a while back to proc 10% of your max endurance. With both endurance boosting accolades that means 11 per proc. With set bonuses and or Max Endurance boosting powers that can go even higher. I have one alt that gets right at 12. Also, having a 110-120 point 'window' for the proc to work in gives you a time cushion for the proc to fire and a somewhat greater likelyhood of getting full benefit.

Raising your max endurance leverages all your recovery tools and is often the best way to fix blue bar problems.

    Jak
  13. So the store has been down all day for scheduled maintenace. They went wayyyyy past scheduled.

I have attempted to give them MY money every 1-2 hours for a long time now. The last update says ---
"Update 7/12/2012 - 10:43 PM PDT: PlayNC maintenance complete. All City of Heroes related services have been restored."

That would be 12:43 AM July 13th here in Texas.

It is now 1:22 AM here and it may be that the above is true and services are restored if Acccount Management would load, but the Account Management page will not load AT ALL as of the time of this post.

Looks to me like they may have a full 24 hours with no sales.

It is a fact of sales that when your doors are shut, a certain percentage of your business walks and spends elsewhere. Very sorry for all at NCSoft, and hope you get well soon.

  14. These are the powers I would consider.

I have many Min Max alts that use Ninja Run, or its alternate animation clone Beast Run, as their only travel power. Using one of these powers to skip a pool travel power and make up for having to take a dead power like Boxing or Gale can really help on a build. On a lot of Power set combos I find using NR to delay taking a travel power allows me to level up more easily by fitting in an extra attack or defense early.

I would rate Ninja Run as my number one choice if I had to pick only one.

While you can't slot NR or BR, combining them with level 50 run speeds in Swift and Sprint (NR and BR do stack with sprint) and a level 50 Jump in Hurdle, along with a few Run speed and/or Movement speed boosts in your IO sets will average around a 60 mph Run/Jump speed. 70 MPH is not too hard to get. On an alt built for max speed in Granite (30 MPH+), NR run speed is 82.5 MPH in regular armor. Combine NR with Steam Jump and the Jump Pack and you can be airborne for pretty much whole zones by re-jumping in mid-air constantly.

So I would add both Jump powers to the good to have list. Steam Jump is better.

I would never buy a Flight power though, as Raptor packs are so cheap. (Ok I bought Rocket Boaed cause it looked cool and was fast, and I don't have to run low levels to PI anymore, but that was frivilous and lazy.)

Our entire SG has Mystic Fortune. We always card the Teammate below and bottom gets top. Fast Fun Free buff.

Secondary Mutation is also fun. Unlike Mystic you buff youself. The first time you hit it in combat and get the very rare Rikti Monkey result will be quite memorable. Especially if you are the Tank and a team wipe results .

I use the Pocket D VIP teleport 9 out of 10 days.

Same on Mission Transporter, but Team Transport will work on you when alone and recharges so much faster, it is the better deal.

Least important is Self Destruction, In addition to being a fun desperation move, it can be a 'Teleport' power. Blow up - then rez in BASE. Restock, dump salvage, and use SG base TP's to head to next task, or the portal to go back to mission.

You might still be able to find old CoH boxed games that have some of the powers like Pocket D and Jump Pack out there in 3D, but I am not sure if adding them to your account still adds the powers, can anyone confirm?

ALL these powers have been on sale at one time or another, so be patient and wait for sales. Same for new power sets, etc. Wait if you can.

  15. If feel you must 2 slot then the PS Proc + PS End Mod with 5 boosters would be the best possible.

The 53% enhancement from the +5 level 50 End Mod can couple with an Alpha that also provides End Mod such as Agility to give 90+% total enhancement.
  16. JakHammer

    Radiation Blast

There was a time when Rad / MM was a fotm and I made one to farm with. He still works great. Drain Psyche near perma is a beautiful thing.
  17. JakHammer

    Shockwave

I loved Shockwave before the new set.
Now? Gotta have MOR new procs!!!
  18. Is it possible that the mechanic of the -Def portion of this upcoming proc is of the Grant Power variety and therefore, like Tanker Bruising, cannot be Resisted? Would that then make the proposed Proc worthwhile?

    Jak
  19. Ok, following the advice of the only reply to the first build attempt, I went for more Resists and focused on Ranged and AoE defense.

Voltiac Sentinel is dropped in favor of Tactics to shore up personal (really needed) and Team To-Hit, thus better filling the support role. Redirected slots from Sparky to 6 slot both Tough and Dark Embrace. That allows two 5 slot Aegis for major increase in AoE Defense (+6.26%) and allows the split of the two 3% Defense Uniques that the 5 slotted Aegis force.

Zapp and Snow Storm are dropped and 4 Powers from Soul Mastery are taken.

Dark Embraced slottted as described above.

Soul Storm takes a second Basi Gaze to replace the lost Sting of the Manticore 7.5% Recharge and uses 1 less slot. This should provide a less situational power and useful stacking Hold with nice damage. I really wish I could find 1 slot for Soul Storm to put in a +5 Rag 66.25% Damage only, it would boost the damage about 30 points per activation. Any ideas?

Soul Drain - concerned about the probable bad interaction with Hurricane, but even if it hits no targets, 40% Damage buff for 30 seconds with a 63 second recharge should rock.

Power Boost - If it actually does what MIDS shows then about every 35 seconds I should be able to go Power Boost + Freezing Rain for some amazing DeBuff. -77% defense? -93% Run Speed? Can anybody confirm if this works?
Also MIDS shows this power pushing my defense up dramatically when it is active. Does that actually happen?
Snow Storm is dropped for this Power as I find that the anchor just never seems to live that long unless it is an EB or AV which makes Snow Storm very situational. Also Toggle drain is probably at the limit here.

Endurance Recovery is helped by the Agility Core making several powers Endurance Positive. When Power Boost is active Lightning Bolt will supposedly Gain 5.52 endurance per shot. If necessary Clarion can be Swapped for Ageless.

Hoping for a broader range of responses to this version of the build. Thanks for you help,
    Jak

  20. If you have 2 Brutes you can unslot and e-mail a set of Catalyzed Purple ATOs to Brute 2, and reslot a regular set on Brute 1 and use the excess catalysts that way. I have done that with my two lvl 50 tanks, so the new lvl 50 could immediatly have a purple ATO set.

  21. Thinking about finally finishing my Storm-Elect-Mace.
I like that the Agility 45% End Mod Alpha actually makes the ST attacks, and the Tesla Cage, Endurance gain positive if MIDS is correct.
I wish I had a bit more Global Accuracy.
The Zapp could be replaced by a Perma Summon Disruptor, are those any good?
Does anyone know if the Preemptive Radial Flawless will add enough Endurance Drain and Recovery DeBuff to the existing effects in the build to matter. Should it be Core? Or would a different Interface be a better Idea?

    Thanks for any comments.

    Temp power tray

Yep, not being able to detach and move the pop-up tray is a fail. Not being able to put the power in a different tray and have the pop-up tray close is a fail. The idea is Great, but the implementation is a Major Fail as far as I am concerned. It is particulary annoying to me as I have gone to a lot of trouble to set up my trays with at least one space in 1,2, or 3 open at all times.

You can give the power to someone else to close the tray sometimes, or delete the power entirely. That's it. Fail.

  23. I may use Hammer as part of my alias, but Blue is sure hitting the Nail on the Head today.

Both the posts about the new I-Trial are dead on.
No solo Hybrid XP - sucks.
Being effectively blinded in Trial ditto.

  24. Dual Sawed-Off 8 Bore Drillings (Most Drillings are 2 shotgun + 1 rifle three barreled weapons, but 3 shotgun barrels is perfectly possible.)

Or Dual R2K four-barrel entry shotguns. The Russians may have a 4 barrel design also.

Or any pair of decent semi-autos.

Naturally our shotguns would actually have 18 1/2 inch barrels to keep our Tanks off the BATF radar.

No shield defense, but the Devs could actually do this fairly easily by adapting the animations from dual pistols.

This is a set I would pay for without waiting for a sale.

  25. 1) After getting tricked for 800 points worth of the PS Proc before I heard it was not WAI, I have no intention of being sucked in again. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!" applies here I think. Buying a Heca Proc only might be an option, if we are told it is cast in stone as is.
    2) In any event, since enhancement boosters cannot be applied to Store Bought sets, the only use for SBE I see is on an exemplar oriented build. EDIT: Guess I had my full dose of Duh pills today. Exemplaring is a useful feature of non Purple SBE, but crafted Purples already exemplar just fine. I suppose being able to slot it at a low level might be worthwhile, if the SBE Purple follows the level 10, or whatever it is, minimum rule of other SBE.
