Best Brute's Fury Proc Power in Staff

Working on a Staff / Dark build. First alt with either power set.

Is there a consensus on which Staff power makes best use of the Fury Proc, or should it be in the Death Shroud Damage Aura?

Skipping Taunt as going to almost always run solo. If skipping a 2nd Staff Power, what should a Brute with Dark Armor pass on?

Is it worth considering the use of Oppresive Gloom to stack with the two stun attacks in Staff. After trying to look at builds from when the set came out, it seems most skip Gloom. If the correct attack power to skip above is one of the stuns I would guess Gloom would be out for sure. But if I would be retaining two stuns would Gloom work then? Having no exp with DA I don't know how rough the Hit Points lost to Gloom are.

Thanks
Jak

Hi Jak,

I've not done any staff toons, but I have quite a few DAs.

OG's HP cost is trivial, so don't concern yourself with it. On it's own it will keep all melee minions out of the fight so long as they don't stagger too far away and shake it off. An AoE immob goes a long way if you can get one off at the right time.

As far as pairing goes, I found my EM/DA stalker pretty amazingly effective since EM will almost always disorient as a secondary. I could easily keep LTs out of the fight, and also keep bosses stunned a good deal of the time. I suppose the mileage you get out of OG depends on the purpose of your toon.

Hope that helps!

If you keep both of the staff stuns, then I would say definitely find a pick for OG. If you keep one, I would still advise you to pick up OG. It is a great one slot power that as long as you aren't skipping something critical, every Dark Armor player might as well have it. This advice is assuming you are already planning on getting Cloak of Fear. If you weren't going to pick up Cloak of Fear then imo Oppressive Gloom is a must have. The survivability boost from having at least one of the Mez toggles is huge.

I am hesistant to advise you where to put the proc because I am still not 100% in my understanding of the PPM change coming from i24. Current for i24, the proc will go off everytime in any single target attack power who's base recharge (the unenhanced recharge) of a power is 15 secs or more. Not sure how that compares to slotting it in a damage aura, but I tend to keep it in a ST attack.

Aren't the ATO procs already PPM? In my experience, they work beautifully in damage auras. That's what I'd do.

Thanks for the replies.

For the time being I decided to just run this DXP weekend PL'ed experimental alt with whatever random IO sets I had and I put six Brute's Fury in Precise Strike for now.

After I get a better feel for the combo I'll post an actual build attempt.
