  1. That's so cool. Wish I could take a class like that!
  2. Sweeeeet.

It's step in the right direction. Let's cool down on hating NCsoft, they seem to be more understanding than we may have thought. They're talking which is more than a lot of people expect.
  3. I actually hadn't even considered them. But that might just be brilliant... I've always wanted to do a Peacebringer the right way... and I haven't tried after the inception of Inner Light and the changes to Light Form. And SoA are just awesome in general, but I've never done them.

    Where to now?

I downloaded DCUO a couple days ago, and it's pretty fun. It doesn't have nearly the depth that Cities does. I tried Champions a while ago, I didn't like it... but I may try again when I get bored of DCUO and Cities has shut down.
  5. I want to do one of those total playthrough-to-50 things on both red and blueside, you know with the level locking and endless hunting missions. I want to do a hero archetype for Paragon City and a villain archetype for the Rogue Isles. Problem is, I do not know what to choose. I'm leaning towards a Scrapper for CoH, but I'm not sure. And as for CoV, I don't even know. A Brute seems the obvious choice but I've done it soooo many times and I don't want it to feel too similar to my CoH playthrough. Any ideas, guys? Powerset recommendations would be appreciated as well.
  6. I haven't been here for a while... but the Scrapper forums are what taught me how to play this game at the higher level. Thanks guys, this is where most of my enjoyment of this game came from... min/maxing, ultra-IOing, etc. You guys taught me how to do that years ago. So, thank you. I won't be VIP tomorrow, but I'll probably creep around 'till the end. Love you all, best of luck in the future.

    -emu.

My global is @AP and I'm mostly on Freedom, if I see anyone in the coming months.
  7. I will no longer be VIP as of tomorrow. And... as we all know, no one will be able to renew for the final three months as billing was dropped. I wanted to say farewell to the AT forums while I could. Thanks to everyone who ever helped me tighten up a build. Thanks to everyone who ever contributed to these threads because I did a lot more creeping than posting (as evidenced through my 400something posts). I really will miss this community. Thank you, again. To everyone.

My global is @AP and I mostly play on Freedom. Just in case I run into anyone in the next three months. Love you guys, best wishes in your future gaming endeavors

The seagull in Pocket D. He is located on top of the truck just off the main dance floor on the villain side. The devs implemented him so you can change whether or not you always accept/deny Mystic Fortune, alter whether or not Speed Boost gives you a movement speed bonus and even check progress on the Dimensional Warder badge. He has a few other uses too, I think.

You can always except/deny TEAM Teleport, but not Recall/Incan I don't think.

While I agree Incan "spamming" can be annoying, the compromise cure is too change the TP prompt setting. The actual remedy would be another setting for ALWAYS that does NOT bring up the prompt. Dev get to work on it please.

"Not" changing the setting then complaining about it and starting a fight...well to me that is a form of I trial trolling as well considering the fact that changing it would have eliminated the problem they are fighting about in the first place.

Common sense use of the power might be a stretch for a world where common sense is not so common anymore.....
Ah, yes. Always no to TP would be wonderful. Null the Gull anyone? I suppose that is rather annoying to have march all the way to PD just to change it if you're on a normal team. But hey, maybe we can have the option to have Null as a contact and call him one day? Or implement his powers into the UI. I don't know what kind of coding hell that might be, so I understand if it's not possible. But it's an idea.
  10. Barrier is nice, but I would never rule out Clarion for someone who lacks mez protection. T4 Clarion Core is full-time mag 6 (at least) mez protection. I personally find that I cannot live without it on my Defender, since I like to pretend I am tank and he's already pretty tough. But, if t4 Cardiac fixes your endurance problems and you don't mind mez/diligently carry break frees you should go with Barrier.

I do believe Performance Shifter procs for people in the patch, yourself included, AS WELL as you, anywhere.

I could be crazy though, and just getting lucky with the proc firing off.

Edit: You anywhere, as long as the toggle is on.

What becomes interesting is that some that start to complain about the person being a noob etc.. don't even know how to turn off the prompt and these are multi-year vets. Irony.

Some people take the game way too seriously and don't even know the basic general information, functions and mechanics. Kinda crazy how they are the first to call people noob, strange or some other stupid label to make themselves feel better.
I am also on Freedom, and I am beginning to think people troll trials to troll trials. I breathe a sigh of relief when a trial goes off without any name-calling or arguing. And if the leader is proactive, positive and reasonable I make a point to personally thank them for their patience.

    But ah, 'tis off topic.

Incan spamming is incredibly annoying... Incan is usually what makes me remember to switch my TP prompt on for a 'new' character. Even with the prompt on, I get a little annoyed that I have to either stare at it for x seconds or click no. My mouse pointer gets lost in the incarnate carnage. Certain trials, like TPN, do have use for Incan. But... teleporting my Defender into sequestration and subsequent death because you want to boost my healing received or attempt to stun Nightstar/Siege is silly. Then I great to read the ensuing flame war about 'WATCH YOUR F'ING RINGS NOOBZ". Obviously, that is a bit of hyperbole... But intelligent, even harmless, use of Incan is easy. I don't want to ask people to not use it, but just to exercise some common sense.

    Fire APP

I'm all for filling out all the themes for APP pools. Particularly if that finally adds a Defense based shield to Defenders that I don't have to jump through hoops (Swapping redside, unlocking, swapping back) to get.
I agree with this... even if it's the often-complained-about Frozen Armor. I usually just make Defenders that never hit the S/L softcap because I loathe changing sides, not to mention I dislike the rest of the powers in Mace Mastery.

    Fire APP

I agree entirely. I think the set would look something like:

    Consume
    Cremate/flaming melee attack
    Fire Shield
    Rise of the Phoenix
    ???? (Bonfire, maybe? I don't know)

I also think we should get an Ice APP, and possibly a natural/tech inspired Gadgets/Weapons APP (We have Traps, AR, Beam Rife AND Dual Pistols now after all).

    Nature feedback

Nature Affinity is a good powerset, but it's not incredible. It's main strength is its healing capability, as far as I've seen (Water/Nature Corr, level 27).

Lifegiving Spores combined with an occasional Regrowth keeps a team incredibly healthy. So long as you're not trying to prevent a disaster, either one of these powers will keep squishies from going down (although they might not notice due to a portion of their healing being HoT).

Its support prowess is compounded with Wild Growth and Wild Bastion. Growth helps stave off damage as to offset the weakness of HoT, bursts of damage. Bastion is a more effective 'emergency' power. However, I've found that it is best used just -before- things start to go south. This isn't too hard to catch, if you're paying attention. Problem is... people won't notice you for it, and it's hard to know whether you were really the one who saved the day, or you were just using your powers.

I cannot attest to the hold toggle and Overgrowth yet, but Overgrowth looks to be an awesome buff. I'm excited to use it. Oh, and Rebirth.... it's a rez. Yeah.

If you are indeed correct, I apologize but this seems a bit wacky to me.
Yes, if they are both hit with the same attack then the one with resistance will take less damage. But the odds of being hit are less (possibly by a large margin) if the one without was packing +defense. By the OP's math (and basic logic), if the two are barraged with attacks, statistics show that the one with defense will live longer if both are also benefiting from a -damage effect on the attacker.

I take it you frequently use Lifegiving Spores?

I feel like I am a walking league of Corruptors and Defenders with all the green numbers around my team. It's the Healing over Time, I guess.
  18. Related question: is anyone aware of how the PPM changes affect rain and other psuedopet powers?

    Rain of Fire/Freezing Rain/Ice Storm/etc

    Lightning Storm/Tornado/etc

I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere. Thanks!

    Pain Domination

Pain is a nifty set. It's toted as the "antithesis" of Empathy, being a villain's primary healing set. I like that you are given an incentive to use its healing powers, unlike Empathy. Given this, I'll always be a PD fan if I'm wanting to make use of healing (but so help me if you ever call me a healer I will let you DIE and ROT).

It does get more attention on MMs for obvious reasons, but it's perfectly viable on a Corr. While it is more solo-friendly than Empathy, it's definitely a team-oriented set. Painbringer is awesome and Anguishing Cry is a million times more fun to use than the RAs :P

Which primary are you considering? Single-target friendly primaries would probably be preferred if you're going to be sending mobs every which way.

I just picked up the set and I have to agree. I'm only level 18 right now, but wow. I was in a PuG where the leader was obsessed with Tsoo missions. I don't know why, but it wasn't as... fun as it could be. I guess there was a reason he was spamming LFG with "lvl 17 mish team NEEDS HEALER lfm pst" despite the fact that there were two empaths on the team when I joined. With so little damage output, each spawn turned out to be a somewhat protracted fight. Long enough that I could use Lifegiving Spores for a relatively extended period of time. I'd drop it in the melee fray, stand back and blast and use Regrowth when it was up or I was waiting for another attack to recharge to make effective use of Tidal Power stacks. I was amazed by my green number output. My empath friends were stuck fortituding one person at a time (unslotted I guess), no healing needed.

Long story short, I love this powerset. But I hate... and I mean HATE HATE HATE HATE when people call me a healer.

To reply to the original question, I'll be skipping Rebirth, that's it. I don't like rez powers. We have inspirations for that :P
  22. My Storm/Fire Defender is easily the most fun I've had in this game to date.

Though, Storm anything really is a blast. It's a highly underrated powerset in terms of effectiveness. It's got an amazing debuff in Freezing Rain and an excellent source of control AND damage with its Tornado and Lightning Storm. Not to mention Tornado is ridiculous with an Overwhelming Force proc.

Those are just three powers, the only power I don't like is Gale... and it can be really fun to use if you're bored.

    This just in!

Ahhh yay. All of the Synapse-badgering worked. Very happy with this, might want to dust off my PB!

This advice is assuming you are already planning on getting Cloak of Fear. If you weren't going to pick up Cloak of Fear then imo Oppressive Gloom is a must have. The survivability boost from having at least one of the Mez toggles is huge.

I am hesistant to advise you where to put the proc because I am still not 100% in my understanding of the PPM change coming from i24. Current for i24, the proc will go off everytime in any single target attack power who's base recharge (the unenhanced recharge) of a power is 15 secs or more. Not sure how that compares to slotting it in a damage aura, but I tend to keep it in a ST attack.
Aren't the ATO procs already PPM? In my experience, they work beautifully in damage auras. That's what I'd do.

The empathy mez protection is what really made the difference.
My point exactly, we wouldn't have been able to survive without our Defender-y-ness. I kept her alive, she kept me alive.

    Defenders own.

And I regret forgetting about this thread, there's actual discussion! Le'gasp!

And to the previous point of Damage Resistance on a Storm Defender, it really does rock. 20+ resistance to ALL but psi is damn good; I took Soul Mastery for that reason. Although the additional energy resistance for iTrials is tempting (Charged Armor). I can get 80+ global recharge, 1 small purple away from the softcap on ALL defenses and all the tools available to a Stormie? Defenders can defend themselves as well
