Discussion: When Do I Get My Paragon Points and Reward Tokens? (VIP)
IMPORTANT: Paragon Rewards Program Update - 9/12/2011 Since announcing City of Heroes Freedom weve been extremely excited to share all of the new features coming with Issue 21, one of the most exciting being the Paragon Rewards Program. Weve fielded several questions over the last several weeks about the Paragon Rewards Program, one of which being about how Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded for players who purchase Multiple Month Subscription plans. Our original design, and what weve been sharing, is that VIP players who purchased multi month subscription plans would be awarded all Paragon Reward Tokens at the time of purchase. Unfortunately due to technical limitations that we have been unable to overcome, this will not be the case. Instead, VIP players who purchase multiple month subscription plans will receive their Paragon Rewards Token each month on their billing cycle, at the same time they receive their monthly allotment of Paragon Points. Please note that Paragon Reward Tokens granted by the purchase of Paragon Points will grant at the time of purchase. We do sincerely apologize that we were not able to launch Issue 21 with this feature and will continue to endeavor to implement it in the future. |
I have the yearly one. How dose this affect anything since my pay date isn't monthly? Also i have 42 reward merits. Can i get more then that?

Let me illustrate:
Let’s address your Paragon Points first. If your game account has a bill day between the 1st of the month to the 10th of the month, you should expect your October stipend of Paragon Points on October 11th, provided your VIP subscription continues. Over the next few months, your stipend date will line up with your bill date as long as you maintain the VIP status of your game account. If your game account has a bill day between the 11th of the month to the 31st of the month, you will receive your Paragon Points on your game accounts billing date, as long as you maintain the VIP status of your game account.

Those that reported not having extra in September should file a ticket with support to see what happened to their September points?
The monthly Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded differently. They follow the same schedule as the old Veteran Reward program. This means you may not receive them on the same date that you receive your monthly VIP Paragon Rewards Points. Veteran rewards are were calculated based on the time your game account is was actually playable with active paid game time, and not just based on your bill date. Just as a temporary block changed your Veteran Reward dates, these types of things changes to your game account will also change the date you receive your monthly VIP Paragon Reward Tokens. You also have to play out the month of game time before receiving the tokens. You may pay for time in advance, but you have to play out the time before you receive your next reward.

And you state that it is based on "active paid game time." Does that include "free" months included with boxed sets? And does being administratively locked out of the game count as not active paid game time? (Example: My "free" months game time that was bundled with buying the Architect Edition, does that count for receiving tokens? If it does, since I was locked out of the game because of a payment dispute between NCSoft and PayPal for nearly the whole month, does it still count?)
Just wonderful...I was counting on getting my stipend when my VIP sub renewed today so I would have enough for Street Justice. I guess another few days won't hurt...much

(Example: I started Head Start with an extra 400 points, and those were for September. I did not receive points on my billing date of the 22nd, because I had already received my points for September 22nd and I should expect my next stipend on October 22nd because I fall outside of the 10th.) Those that reported not having extra in September should file a ticket with support to see what happened to their September points? |
This one is even more odd. Is there any way for customers to find out what day they are currently slated to receive their Tokens? Obviously that day is subject to change after finding out... There is no easy way to check this date unfortunately. It's a concern that we've brought up.

Tokens though... 2 accounts (both with the same billing and veteran dates in the past - they have one month difference of paid time, but it is /exactly/ one month off, so one account always should be one ahead on tokens/vet status based on the old system), both got a server transfer token on October 1st but nothing else (no token, no PPs)
My billing date is the 5th of each month - BUT - I'm on a 6 month plan, paid in July and February. My veteran reward date has been on the 1st of the month for "ages" now - I'd checked before head start and I should have gotten my next vet badge under the old system on Oct 1st according to that system - so I assumed that would be the date I'd get my reward tokens. I saw the grants of the server transfers on both accounts, but no change to vet tokens, and even now, no change in the number despite my billing date being today.
My veteran date should not have changed with the changes the headstart and i21 brought, so I should have gotten my token on the 1st for both accts...neither got a token. The points should have granted today (but as stated, I understand I will not get them until the 11th this month - back to billing date next month?)
When precisely should server transfers be awarded? Billing date, first of each month, or veteran date? That might help clear some things up as well.
Anyway, I have two tickets in (one for each account - though they are both under the same support account, so I'm hoping both accts get checked out and not just one and the other closed as a presumed duplicate) but wanted to mention that I /know/ my veteran date and did not get my tokens as expected on the 1st of October.

Hey, Zwill, thanks for the info, but don't forget that we need clarification about the timing of the server transfer tokens as well!
From what I understand, active game time = anytime in the past, and moving forward, that you have had an active game/VIP subscription. In your case, I would contact Customer Support or Billing and ask them since you have different circumstances that I'm not entirely comfortable venturing a guess at.

September is a bit iffy, but if I get what Zwillinger said correctly you won't be receiving September's Token until your vet reward date comes up in October. Because you do not get your Reward Tokens until the end of the month of time.
So your account should be correct.

You should not receive a token for July, or August, for certain. Token accumulation does not start until after Freedom launched.

Ok, this doesn't seem clear in this thread, but if I have an ANNUAL sub that is set to renew on April 23, 2012, do I have a few months to wait till I get a boat load of points, or will I get a regular monthly allotment on October 23rd??

One other concern I have that I did not see covered: The Yearly tokens. I was due for my 60 month badge October 5th previous to Freedom. I got only one token today, not two.
Now, this may have been obliquely covered, since my best guess from what you said, is that I will get the 60 month and 5 year tokens in November? Or do I have that wrong, and if if so how?
EDIT: Also want to know - I may have missed this, pardon me, I'm very tired - but are we still getting multiple tokens all at one time if we pay for multiple months, and if so, how is that going to work?

my question is, the tier 9 VIP Rewards aka Celestial Armor costume set, once it leaves, will it return at some point? i recall hearing the Tier 9 VIP Paragon Rewards were on a "rotational cycle"
im not feeling too good about spending approx $230.00 on Paragon Points just to buy the Celestial Armor set :/
if it leaves for good that would make me feel worse than i do, when the Paragon Rewards were announced it was said everyone as of July 1st 2011 who had a Subscription would become VIP and "start accruing rewards", so what happened to that? why shouldnt i get tokens for July, Aug and Sept?
if i was VIP and since July and i got the 1600 Paragon Points for being VIP since then, why dont i get the 3 Tokens too? the 3 tokens would really help whittle down the money id need to spend right now to get Tier 9 VIP

1) Your renew date is your billing date, IE: that's the day before you get awarded stuff;
2) Nomatter how far in advanced you pay, you still get the standard allotment give or take how many Tiers you've climbed. IE: Tier 8+ get extra pts;
3) Tokens follow the old VR schedule and are based on the original signon date for that account and accumulate based on the total amount of time paid to the current calendar date. Being rewarded at the End of the cycle it feels like you'll be one month behind, but it's kinda like a Layaway program where you don't get the goods until you're paid in full;
The above OP's posting is trying to clarify that because of everybody's various signon dates, etc it is going to take a couple months to get everyone on the same cycle. This will likely be finalized by year's end.

What I've outlined below is taken directly from Zwillinger's post in the Issue 21 Open Beta Sections (his examples of what each tier gets) with a few additions and is formatted for an easier read. The basic cost. The following shows what a player starting in Issue 21 without any retail package will have to pay to fully unlock a Tier: Tier 1: $0 Tier 2: Variable. Owning a Retail Code, or first purchase of Paragon Points. Tier 3: Approximately* $45 above Tier 2. Tier 4: Approximately* $90 above Tier 2. Tier 5: Approximately* $165 above Tier 2. Tier 6: Approximately* $270 above Tier 2. Tier 7: Approximately* $375 above Tier 2. Tier 8: Approximately* $480 above Tier 2. * Due to factors like buying Paragon Points in bundles, getting a bonus token for a year's subscription, and where you are currently in the rewards shrub, I can only show approximate figures. Each $15 can be either subscribing for a month or buying 1,200 addition Paragon Points. Note that any Paragon Reward Tokens earned (converted from the Vet Rewards Program, bonus for having subscribed for a year, or the additional Reward Token for owning a retail copy) will decrease the above by $15 for each Rewards Token you have. There has been some recent confusion surrounding the schedule for the awarding of Paragon Points and Paragon Reward Tokens included as part of your VIP subscription. When we first announced the details surrounding Freedom, we communicated that players would receive their monthly stipend of Paragon Points and Paragon Reward Token on their monthly billing date. Unfortunately, due to technical limitations of the Paragon Rewards Program and safeguards with the stipend system there have been some adjustments to the cadence of release for these VIP Benefits.
