Feedback: "Who Will Die?" Part 1

Feedback:

Alastor and Theoden show up on the mini-map as a trainer and not a contact.

Alastor does not show up in active contacts.

Text for contact should give level and number of players parameters.

Nothing 'happened' when the cavern 'collapsed'. No damage. No awesome rock falling animation. Just a mission kick.

Part of second map (Stop the Igneous from stealing the Obelisk) has unavailable map parts.

Upon entering the missions, they don't auto-load; you have to click Enter Game. I suppose it's so we can see the awesome art. Hate that! Too many times I sat there and started to wonder why it wasn't loading. ARGH! Get rid of that, please.

With the exception to the Igneous who are immune to the effects of lava, any map that had lava made foe-fights trivial by simply hovering over the lava and watching them die. Going to have to give the foes flight or -fly powers.

Give Kal'Mant flight. He's useless trying to find a path over the broken up terrain to keep up with you.

The bonus merits is actually 10x normal merits, not 5x.

Neat stuff:

When you find the exit (look left) you go into another map. Villainside, there is a chest with this clue...

The Cult of Eyes: You found some scrolls in a treasure chest within Oranbega. Most of them seemed fairly old, detailing ancient enemies of the Oranbegans. One, however, was new, as if it had been scribed a few days ago. It detailed a cult whose followers have 'eyes to look to the beyond' and that 'they are to be considered eternal enemies to the Oranbegans'. There isn't much information regarding the cult, and unfortunately it doesn't seem like this cult had much to do with the current happenings.

Heroside it's just Alastor and Echidna running out.

Would of prefered it if it could of been run at level 50, maybe they could just change it at a later point to use a new group that goes up to level 50?

Not true, lost sort of scale to 50 as you'll know if you do close to max level lost missions at +diff.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

I kinda think they *do* and they put in a double ??? purposely to throw off those who would use demorecord to snoop.

Or, the evil mastermind is: twins!!!

Yeah... but they change to Rikti at 30, thus ruining a plotline for those doing it at low levels and making vague references to "Masters" rather dumb if their Rikti saying those lines.

It's not level 50, big deal.

Why is Babs always hanging out with the Phalanx if he isn't a member?

Wannabe.

So - what's the schedule for these? Are they really planning to release 3 (or so) missions a month for the next six months? That seems, incredibly... unambitious.

Phalanx members seem to have a lot of money for good threads. Financed by Manticore
probably, but hey.

I think he's hoping if he plays hanger-on long enough, one of them will toss him a
bone and buy him some better threads.

I really wish he had a better pose in that promo art though. He looks like he ate some
really bad burritos there.

I think when Babs "retired" he became the Phalanx's personal tailor and hair dresser

They can be between3-6 missions, depending on the story requirements of each part.

For those who have ... difficulties ... with the arc exemplaring you down to 20: I was looking through Ouroboros to find a mission to run when I came across the contact for the 4th part of the story (obviously not yet available), and she's in the 40s. So no, the entire story won't be as low as this part. This was just done so that the writers could, y'know, tell the story they wanted to tell using the enemy groups they wanted to use.

Looks like it might go like this:

Part 1: level 20
Part 2: level 25
Part 3: level 30
Part 4: level 35
Part 5: level 40
Part 6: level 45
Part 7: level 50

isn't he one of the surviving 8? Which isn't quite Phalanx, but close enough?

We could be seeing a Tyler Durden scene.

6 missions a month.

Just because you don't want to play the other 3 doesn't mean they aren't there.

But yeah a REAL exit should be put in there.
You can use an Ouroboros Portal for the same purpose. That's what I did, as finding exits is a waste of time preventing me from getting to the next mission and subsequent reward.

My natural instinct was to go to the entrance...since they double as exits.
Once that didn't work, O-Portal did. If that hadn't, I would have logged out and logged back in...which leads me to another rant about these stories and how they don't impact the game world AT ALL.

Overall I quite enjoyed the arc, still wondering how Emperor Cole/Nemesis/Mr. G is doing all this without anyone in the Phalanx finding out...

Sure, someone will die but...*SPOILERS*

The Lost are draining Synapse's energy. You would *THINK* that Mynx, standing no more than fifteen feet away and having known him for what, close to ten years, would know about this or at least notice. Or, like, anyone. And hey, didn't Lord Recluse also have a device that could drain superpowers from metahumans (Oh, that's right at level 20 you don't know this, but the Phalanx sure do!) and thus Statesman at the very least would have spoken with Synapse about it and they MAY have some kind of counter to this sort of stuff? I sure hope that there is some kind of logic behind all this, since every member of the Phalanx is going to get "bugged" and hey, they never talk to each other or communicate...especially not Numina who is a ghost and in touch with at the very least, Positron...which is going to make that arc particularly interesting for the story writers.

I didn't quit...but was serious annoyed that once again we are denied new 50+ story arcs. As I understood it these were to be level 50 arcs, guess I misunderstood wrongly..

Sure glad my incarnate powers are getting put to use lol

Lvl 50+ Rogue Brute - completed both Hero and Villain without breaking a sweat @ +1/0.

Lvl 50+ MM Thugs/Storm - struggled to keep Thugs alive but motored through with Hurricane and Ice Slick easing the way @ +2/0. Hurricane and Ice Slick were especially helpful on the second mission as them and the boys kept the mobs away while MM clicked on glowies. AV in mish 3 was a bit of a prob but we got thru it - sloppy and iffy but done.

My overall impression is that the missions are a challenge with some obstacles to overcome but that only meant I had to take my time and think about them every step of the way. No reason to hurry and make errors that result in frustration. I made best use of the powers remaining after the exempt and succeeded.

Now off to see how my Lvl 26 Fire/Rad Troller can handle things. Betting this will be a problem.

So, I'm playing along with my villain and two things occur to me.

One, the obelisk is gonna drain synapse and give the power to the igneous... so I start laughing when I picture that planning meeting of all the big rocks saying "yes, speed boost, plz".

Two, I wish there was an igneous badge...

back to exploring to find this obelisk.

IIRC, part of the way Recluse did that was through one of those "uber spells that can only be cast at a certain time" sort of things. It may well be that there is no counter to it, or that this effect is different enough that any counter they worked out for that doesn't work for this.

Hopefully, the writers will remember and at least mention/hand wave that storyline at some point in the next 6 arcs.

In other news, running off to take care of a problem himself and ending up unconcious seems to be Synapes' specific shtick, so that explains why Mynx didn't come along

Could also be that as an entirely different spell, it may need a specifically designed counter and the two stories subsequently don't relate.
