My bet's on them swapping out the dead one for Desdemona. Devs seem to really like her for some reason.

She's interesting - she's a former villain who's joined the right side - she helps make the Freedom Phalanx more varied

I ran it twice. The second run took 8:12, and that included a couple of wrong turns - I'm sure I could shave 30 seconds or so off that, and it wasn't with a purpled-out monster character, just a mediocre scrapper.

The point of the time commentary here isn't e-peen, it's the ridiculous rewards being offered. The Alignment Merit reward selection is clearly way out of bounds, compared both to the time and effort required, and the other rewards offered on the table.

I'd strongly advise the devs to fix that before it's been live so long it's seen as a big nerf. PR-wise it's always better to nip things in the bud early, especially since you've discussed selling access to these arcs in the marketplace. It gets pretty sticky reducing what many will see as the reason they bought this arc, the massively disproportionate rewards. I guess if the intent is Pay2win (it's possible...) then ignore what I've said.

A-merits aside, I rather enjoyed it. Beautiful maps! The next time I play it (for the nearly-free LotG 7.5), I'll take more time to savor it and may have further feedback.

Addendum: I realize that the rewards cap at twice/week, but it's still a 20-minute solo LotG or Numina's once per week. Per character. Level 20's are not hard to populate servers with.

Too lazy to check if it's been mentioned, but on the redside version has anyone stuck around after the final mission completes (i.e. don't exit the mission)?

I started browsing the forums without exiting and there was an amusing development.
(edit: Spoiler)

Disagree on all points:

Ambushes/delays felt like proper difficulty for my L20 illusion controller and my L11 katana scrapper. YMMV

Escaped first time I played through without too much trouble and the right amount of "Oh PANCAKE!"

Please add a page of comic book story behind the picture, so that people who aren't the mission holder get more of the story.

Yeah, the goals there aren't really clear. As far as I can tell, the timer is just telling you how long the ambushes will keep coming. Once it runs out, they stop spawning, and any that are still there will keel over. I guess clicking all the glowies would end the ambushes early... but good luck clicking anything while piles of Igneous keep dropping on your head.

Aside from that, and the similarly annoying timer in the first mission (honestly, Devs...making people race to the exit on an Oranbega map is just cruel), it's a pretty fun little arc.

I'm not reading the thread because I don't want anything spoiled for me, but I will say that I now have to relaunch on a lower difficulty setting because I was not expecting to be exemped to level 20. That is pretty annoying, I wish this arc was played at the level of the mission holder.

One one of the 3 enemy groups on the blue side arc goes up to 50, which means it'd be hard to scale to for all levels.

Ok, tried on redside and blueside. Still can't find the official exit to the first map.

lol, I just Ouro'd out of there. I ran all the way back to the entrance only to get a message saying it was blocked. Then, I tried running towards the back to find an exit. When I only had about 5 seconds left, I used my Ouros Portal.

I agree with the poster towards the top of the page who said that having us race through Oranbega is cruel.

You need to go through the rock door that's lit by the green crystal that you see to your right when you first enter the mission. After that, you just need to navigate through some halls and then you'll find your way to the real exit.

Anyway, I enjoyed the story arc quite a bit. It was interesting seeing the return of a rather obscure villain group while also getting some interesting story developments.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

Hero side, it was particularly interesting to see that some members of the Lost are having a major crisis of faith regarding their rules and even though Theoden is a villain, I still felt sorry for him in the end upon seeing how resigned he was to his fate now that he believes he has betrayed his masters.

Villain side, Alastor made for an interesting contact but it was the finale that was truly glorious. I hope we'll get to do something similar in the future.

I wonder who the mysterious mastermind is here. You can see the tip of the person's shoe in the cutscene but that's about it. I'm looking forward to seeing who it is that is apparently manipulating other groups to destroy the Freedom Phalanx and why.

I just finished the redside arc, still annoyed that I had to do it at level 20. It would've actually been fun at level 50 instead of a vague curiosity. The story itself was pretty okay, I was expecting it to be flashier/longer/a challenging level 50 arc (heh) but it was fine I guess.

My real gripe is with the friggin' rewards table. If you are a rogue or vigilante, do not play this arc. The only decent reward was a Villain Merit. God knows why it offers Astral Merits instead of Emp Merits, when Emps are clearly the equivalent to Allignment Merits and Astrals are... Essentially worthless, at least to me. Just my two cents, take it or leave it.

edit: Also, I stuck around at the end hoping to fight the Freedom Phalanx, when I got the countdown/"get out before they arrive!" message, and of course they never showed up. Sort of a bummer.

Oh, the devs are SNEAKY BASTARDS.

I had an idea to demorecord the cutscene and see if it gave away who was behind the wall. Apparently, though, they're one step ahead of me:

Also, for those who've done it heroside and gotten the vision of a 'ghostly woman and a man in armor... who shake hands, the man looking grim.' My first thought was Numina and Positron... but I'm not too sure.

Ghost Widow and Romulus. I'm sure of it.

I only did the villain arc, I don't really have any heroes higher than level 10, I always get bored of the hero side of things at about that point. But the villain arc was fun, the little surprise at the end made it worth playing through even if it HADN'T been a blast in and of itself. I haven't really played many Task/Strike forces or anything, and I soloed this one, but it wasn't excessively difficult, and it was fun to play through even as a sad lonely old geezer (Surrounded by Zombies.)

I'm looking forward to the next in the series. Not least of all because I've been using the name Kal Alastor online since sometime around the early 90's... That ghost stole my name!

Because her costume seems to have been specifically designed to look good on a booth babe.

Seriously? Yeah yeah, it's Oranbega. But the map itself is tiny and linear, and there are no blinkies hiding in the stupidest places. No, I didn't find the exit either, but still, of all the things to complain about.

If the overall arc levels up with you, I'm fine with it. If it's all lowbie, then yeah, annoying. We have enough lowbie content.

Sister Psyche seems to be permanently frozen in that ***-sticking-out pose with that permanent look of shocked horror on her face. This furthers my theory that she is lying about all that mind-riding stuff keeping her body young and the decades of plastic surgery are starting to catch up with her.

Edit: Oh, and BAB is on the splash screen, so I guess he's still in the running to die even though he's not a member of the FP. My money's on him again.

I'm not one with much experience in female attire, but I got cold just considering that idea.

OK, for those of us that don't know demo, are you saying that the actual model 'behind the curtain' is the same as the guy we see?

They could have put whatever they wanted back there. I gather for convenience (and size), they just put the same model so whoever this is would be, in essence, talking to himself. They could have put Nemesis, a Gear, Tyrant, or anything else that would fit behind that wall as a model just to mess with people.

*grumblegrumble*

But hey, it's not MY fault there's virtually nobody left at Paragon who knows how demofiles work! I should go down there and teach a seminar.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't they have just put noone at all behind there as well? I don't think the captions are actually tied to any characters, right?

I like the first part. (Only played hero one yet). Great maps, nice that they resurrected an old enemy group and the missions themselves were interesting. I doubt that I will ever be able to 'win' mission 1 though since I am a klutz at controls.

Not recommended for squishies though!
