This was Patrick?! Aww, man, like everyone else, I thought he'd moved on. I was away 10 months, March being one of those.

I see his facebook page, with picture, is still up. He has one Activity and Interest visible to the general public. City of Heroes.

Hmm...He and I kept up a minor correspondence on PM. I think to remember him, I'll share two.

The first was over a year and a half ago, and includes his signature lines for you to remember. Note the date, January 12, 2010. When Patrick wrote this bit of humor, he didn't know it was my birthday, and his little revelation was my surprise for the day. Also the obit I found listed him as 32. Here he states he's 32 a year before. (sorry if the image is fuzzy)

The second PM from Patrick I'd like to share, was on Dr. Who and was dated 09-25-2009, 02:26 AM. Several of you have commented that you liked his Dr. Who posts. I know he could be controversial, but see here he was kind and considerate enough to PM to help the poorly informed, namely me.

Enjoy!

I never can get a consistent history of the Doctor on any channel I've had access to, so I may have missed a big story arc, but why not bring granddaughter Susan back instead of Rose? or did she perish with the Time Lords too? Last I knew she had settled down on a future earth, but if she's Gallifreyan, wouldn't she outlast her husband and regenerate? It might be amusing to see the youngest Doctor yet travelling with a middle-aged granddaughter.
In case you missed my response I answered your question here.

[Editorial note: there was no link in the PM. I don't know why - Rodoan]

The Doctor's history has been actually one of the most consistent throughout the series in the sense he basically has none lol We get glimpses and whispers of familial ties and clues to his identity but even his real name is shrouded in complete mystery. It's one of the qualities which make his character so endearing and makes you come back for more.

You are right though about Susan. However there is a big distinction in what you just said you have to consider. Susan was indeed the Doctor's granddaughter however was she a Gallifreyan or a Time Lady? That is the question. Not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords/Ladies and it's entirely possible neither was Susan. Gallifreyans are taken as we know from their families at the age of 8 and enter the 'Academy'. There they are indoctrinated into Gallifreyan learning and if accepted as candidates for potential Time Lords/Ladies they are separated into chapters.

To lift a bit from Wikipedia to save on time the Academies are separated thus

Quote:
Each Time Lord belongs to one of a number of various colleges or chapters, such as the Patrexes, Arcalian, and the Prydonian chapters, which have ceremonial and possibly political significance. In the episode The Deadly Assassin,it is explained that each chapter has its own colours; the Prydonians wear scarlet and orange, the Arcalians wear green, and the Patrexeans wear heliotrope. However, in that same serial, Cardinal Borusa, described as "the leader of the Prydonian chapter" wears heliotrope. Other Prydonians wear orange headdresses with orange-brown (not scarlet) robes. The Prydonian chapter has a reputation for being devious, and tends to produce renegades; the Doctor, the Master and the Rani are all Prydonians. The colleges of the Academy are led by the Cardinals. Ushers, who provide security and assistance at official Time Lord functions, may belong to any chapter, and wear all-gold uniforms. Also mentioned in the Deadly Assassin are 'plebeian classes'.
But even in the Time Lord society there were those Time Lords/Ladies who had either completed the graduation process or stopped short of who 'dropped' out of the entire civilization to return to nature. These outsiders were known as the Shobogans and were even featured in the episode The Invasion of Time.
So as you can see it's possible Susan was only Gallifreyan and not a Time Lady and as such lived out her life in the future with her human husband and then finally aged and died. I think this explanation is the most plausible as you would think that if the Doctor knew that he still had at least one remaining heir out there somewhere that escaped the Time War and thus the destruction of their entire race he would do his best to protect her or visit her and tell her what had happen to Gallifrey and the rest of their family.

I think in the end the Doctor did the most responsible thing he could do and the most selfless act. He gave her a life that he could never have. She could live a life with a man she loved and perhaps have children (not sure if Gallifreyan women and human men are genetically compatible) and finally grow old and die. That's the greatest gift he could ever bestow on someone in his family that he loved and wish to spare the pain he endures of slogging through the centuries always alone.

Oh and before I wrap this up I'll take this quick opportunity to bestow a bit of knowledge most people don't know yet is always the most asked question I get from new fans of the show. Just how is it possible that the Doctor knows not only every piece of technology out there but also how they all work and nearly every mathematical equation, form of energy, how things work and are put together, etc. Well you could put forth the supposition that it's just the collected wisdom of 900 years of living and encountering hundreds if not thousands of different cultures and technologies. But even 900 years wouldn't prepare someone with ALL that information or how to implement it.

Well in addition of course to a Time Lord having a brain about a million time mores complex and efficient than anything else in the cosmos. The Time Lords are the oldest race in the known Universe. They were the first species to gain sentience and have been exploring and gathering information from every corner of the Universe and other Universes since creation. The Doctor himself explained in his own words his almost magical way of knowing everything and how it works or when faced with something new never seen before the ability to within minutes to analyze it and figure out it's component parts without being taught.

Time Lords who graduate the Academy and are granted the ability to regenerate are also given the Rassilon Imprimatur which is a symbiotic nucleus of a Time Lord's cell structure which allows them to withstand the molecular stresses of time travel and grant them a link to their TARDIS. This is what makes a TARDIS 'recognize' it's master and forms the close almost familial bond a Time Lord/Lady has with their TARDIS. The TARDIS has on more than one occasion responded instinctively to either protect the Doctor or his companions and even in the first Doctor's incarnation induced him to regenerate since he had waited long past the time that a Time Lord should remain in their original body before regenerating into their first life. In fact in Turn Left when the Doctor had died and been unable to regenerate the TARDIS itself knew immediately it's master was dead and was slowly dying as well. The lights were dimming and the console nearly spent. It had no reason to go on living either because it's symbiotic partner was dead and as such it had nothing more to live for.

This link also completed the circuit which established the telepathic field which TARDISes and by default the Time Lord/Lady generate that allows anyone around them to understand what everyone is saying even though they are speaking in their native tongue. In the Doctor's case he would almost undoubtedly in most cases be speaking Gallifreyian yet his companions hear English or whatever their native language is. This link to the TARDIS also is vital because it's what maintains and sustains a Time Lord's mental link with the Matrix which is/was a massive computer system on the planet Gallifrey that acted as the repository of the combined knowledge of the Time Lords.

The Matrix is part of the Amplified Panatropic Computer Network, or APC Net, which contains the biological imprints (or bio-data extracts) of all Time Lords as well as the memories of dead Time Lords, storing them in an extra-dimensional framework of trillions of electrochemical cells. It also receives input from sensors contained in the TARDIS time machines piloted by Time Lords. All Time Lords have a link to the Matrix subconsciously and is what also allows them to almost know everything about anything. They are accessing this vast knowledge at will and it is most likely telepathically relayed through the Time Lords TARDIS through the link already shared.

I had noticed his absence, but wondered if it was a retiring from the forums, the game, or...?

That was a very well written tribute post, Turg. I didn't know Lord_of_Time well, but I certainly remember him from these here fora. He'll be missed.

I used to love his posts - sometimes his many, many posts From his posts I got a lot of info on upcoming movies, comics, games and such that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten, or at least heard about much later. I guess in the overall scheme of things it's not that much, but he did bring some joy into my life.

Farewell, Lord_Of_Time.

Reading that post Rodoan it's kinda a shame he didn't get to see the Time Vortex/Doctor's Wife episode.

That's sad to hear, I definitely noticed the absence of his prolific postings in this section but I attributed it to to the clamp down on anything fun that might be related to other games, it's unfortunate that it wasn't as simple as that.

If any of the family happen onto this, sorry for your loss.

You're so right! I think the unfolding arc with River Song would have continued to fascinate him as well.

What? You think he doesn't have cable up there? As well as the complete library of all back episodes?

I also traded PM's with him, rallying behind him when the ruffians tried to get him to stop posting.

If it hadn't been for his reporting, I wouldn't have known about most of the cool geeky things happening. He was a highlight of the old Comic section. When the rule switch happened. I got a final PM from him saying he was 'done' and that he just didn't feel up to fighting on a forum anymore.

While he never said anything outright, it was obvious he had health issues. So when I realized I hadn't seen him post in ages, I kinda got worried that something had happened. Now we know.

Farewell Hero!

I'm sorry that he's passed on. While I periodically gave him grief over his cut n paste news threads, his love and knowledge of Doctor Who made him a resource to those who weren't intimately familiar with the show's long history.

See you when ever Lord of Time.

I'm very sad to read this.

As someone who is also a passionate Doctor Who fan, I had occasion to PM and publicly discuss with him Doctor Who stuff, but he was singly one of the most knowledgable people about the show I'd ever known. And his deep, deep appreciation for the history of the actors, and the show itself shone through.

I will definitely and did definitely miss his presence from the forums.

I saw what others said about his probably enjoying the River Song arc...if the Untempered Schism and the Time Vortex and all the stars and wheels of the galaxy turn the right way, our resident Lord of Time will get to see it all, in all the glory and all the majesty that he knew Time itself to be.

May the High Lords and even the Great Omega himself guide your way, Time Lord. We will see you again, in this guise or another. Time Lords never truly die....

Sad to hear. I was thinking about him the other day and how I missed the old CH/VC forums and he was a large part of it. I just assumed he'd moved on. I enjoyed his many posts and he was my source for all things 'geek news' and as little as that is in the scheme of things I thank him for making my life a little better, a little easier and a whole lot happier.

RIP LoT. You are missed.

I had no idea. We use to play with each other on the freedom server. He introduced me to the puppy farm. He was there sitting on the sides at one of the first hamidon raids egging me on to solo hami while i was phased shifted underneath him. We competed alot with builds and stuff. He was a bs/inv scrapper and I am still playing my dm/inv scrapper. We would argue over politics sometimes, he was a huge george w bush supporter.

Wow its just really strange to think hes gone. I have him on my global friends list right now and I was waiting for him to comeback when the freedom thing launched. I was gonna show him around and tell him how to get his bs/inv to greatness again. I have so much memories with playing with this guy. He was like the one who would let me on his puppy farm teams and he got me my first 50.

This is just really shocking to me.

Oh man, that sucks. I thought he when quiet because, like a lot of others, too many bills and not enough money to go around. I just know that I was saying No No No as I read the title and opened the thread, hoping that it was a call for money for hospital bills or some such.

I miss his posts and it will be doubling hard now that I know I will never see anymore from him. Never talked to him, never teamed up, but he would brighten my day with his geek news posts.

L_O_T you will be missed. Farewell.
