The other thing I'm REALLY digging:

The oily footprints left behind as part of that cog aura.

This bodes well for some additional auras that leave trails in one's wake: blazing foot prints, verdant growth, ice and snow, etc. I remember Noble Savage (or was it another dev) commenting that stuff like this would require new tech as it shouldn't leave a trail mid air if you were jumping or flying. Looks like they worked that one out!

And even though I think the whole steampunk look - not just CoH, but as a style in general - is ugly and clunky, I think they're done an awesome job to capture that look for this costume pack, and I'll totally be getting it to help support the game
I'm baout here with the Steampunk. Less thinking ugly and clunky, and more of just not my style for superheroes.

That said, I imagine alot of new Assault Rifle users coming to the three cities.

Power Proliferation and a Martial Arts Secondary (you know, I did suggest one, that seemed to go over pretty well if memory serves Just saying) for Blasters is what I hope more for.

These are also things more likely to get people away from their 50s (when I say this, I have nothing against all the 50 content) and into some new toons.

Hello, was wondering if any PvP related questions were answered?

I believe that was Back Alley Brawler saying that about the dirt puffs from the Sprint Powers. The problem was that Sprint was originally designed to make the dirt puffs while moving, and there wasn't any thought about what that would look like in the air when flying. BABs managed to invert the problem and make it so that the dirt puffs from Sprint weren't being activated by the power but were instead being activated by the environment when the Sprint power was toggled on. That way it was the ground that would produce the puffs, rather than your character (in codespeak), and you wind up with a situation where you get puffs of dirt only when you're running on the ground and not when flying in the air.

So BABs just "offloaded" the problem from the power, moved it into the environmental controls, and solved it. Looks like this new aura uses the same methodology to produce oily footprints.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I'm not a huge fan of steampunk as a genre but I love the fact that we're getting a pack of parts I can mix & match. I'll find uses for the parts in costumes that aren't strictly steampunk just as I've never made a martial arts guy but use the MA pack parts all the time.

I've got a 50 Steampunk Claws/SR Brute that I love (Amelia Gearheart). I like the costumes I've come up with for her, but this stuff is just amazing! I'll be on that pack on the first day, no doubt!

Great all-around information from the devs, but the preview of the Steampunk Pack hits this session for six!

She doesn't. She's not the one who guards the vault. :P

I'm sure I'll beable to make use of one or two parts. Possible new jackets could be made of use for my Fire/Dark Corr, if they work with the female build. But if they're limited to male builds (like the baron jacket) not so much.

I'll be buying it for sure. I bought the cyborg booster, and I only make constant use of the belt out of it.

That would be awesome.

Judging by the little video of Steam Jump in action, it reminds me a bit of the Jump Pack inherent power from the Good vs. Evil edition of the game. You hit jump and you move in kind of one direction since it only enhances your jump height but not horizontal motion. With this, you hit Steam Jump and you move into the air at 45 or so degrees... and I've got this weird feeling that with Steam Jump, landing might consist of getting more or less over where you want to be and then taking your finger off the space bar, making you drop down on it.

Which sounds like a fun way to travel.

A detail I also noticed was that when they were discussing the Steampunk Rifle, they said weapons. Plural. Maybe there's more than just the Rifle in there, but potentially other steampunk weapons like, I dunno... pistols, blades, axes, or hammers (though the Wrench is already pretty steampunk)? Bows? What would a steampunk bow be, anyways? Some kind of pneumatic assisted harpoon launcher?

Speaking of which--steam punk claws kinda seem like a must for this pack. Could do some really great stuff akin to the meat doctor's spidery arms--but out the wrists of course.

A steampunk crab backpack would be amazing (not that we should expect such a thing, the booster seems like it is basically ready and waiting).

Hmm... can you cite an example of steampunk claws? The idea doesn't leap to mind.

Specific claws as in Woverine style in-game claws, no. But thinking of pretty much any bit of steampunk fare and all the strapped on brass appendages and accoutrements that are used to invoke "cutting edge Victorian science"--where biology meets tinkering--seems to be only a short jump away from a fairly unique set of claws for the game.

So specific carbon copies from existing fiction, no. But something that looks akin to the ribbing on NS's concept art for those steam punk wings? Absolutely.

I like the idea of releasing Trials in between Issues as well as in Issues for the first year or so to build up a nice collection of various Trials for players to choose from to open their slots.
