New Incarnate slots
So, just for fun, what do you think the next incarnate slots will bring to the table? If I recall correctly, I think they were suppose to touch the various archetypes in the game. If that is correct, it means Matermind is out (Lore), as well as Corrupter/Defender (Destiny), and Blaster (Judgement). What are your thoughts? Here is mine:
Hybrid: A self boost, invulnerability+fortitute type power. Genesis: A powerful single target attack (melee?) Mind: A strong AoE hold. Vitae: An increase in health/endurance. Omega: Able to equip any power from the first 9 slots. |
Now, my imagination is a bit altered from your:
Hybrid: A toggle power, being able to mix different sorts of mitigation, i.e. Res(all)+to-hit/acc, def(positional/type(all in the chosen category)+Dmg(all), Regen+(Insert stuff here, for example mez),Rec+rech... Furthermore I kinda hope it's some kind of customizable transformation power (like kheld forms, just... customizable)
Genesis: A click power or toggle power, giving us a travel power, maybe even a new kind of power, or else a new visual to match the general travel powers. I'm thinking of this as movement is also part of the game, and a very important part of the customization game even.
Mind: A mez power of sorts
Vitae:... Blanc xD
Omega: This one is difficult, as it is to the last step in our evolution to become beings to challenge the power of Gods (Yes, I think highly of my incarnated characters xD)
@Global: Difficult One

The idea of each slot giving a power reflective of a specific AT is kinda neat, though I'm not sure it works out perfectly (what's Interface?). I don't know what would be what, but I do suspect we'll see two things among the remaining slots:
#A damage proc. Sorta like Interface, but focused specifically on adding some other layer of damage to all attacks instead of debuffs. Basically gives everyone a chance to do a "critical hit" of some element type of damage or another. This sorta makes sense for "Hybrid", I suppose. Not sure how trees would work for it, though (maybe balancing chance to occur with the amount of damage it does?).
#A shield of some sort. Trees would be based on different styles of mitigation (Resist, Defense, Regeneration, the 4th could maybe be a damage or debuff aura?). Seems like it would be best suited to the "Vitae" slot.
I like how everyone assumes the slot was named Omega because it'll be OMFGIATFSM* awesome and not because it's the last slot.
*Oh my freaking goodness I am the flying spaghetti monster
given what the 1st 5 do, you can assume the next will follow suit. the 1st one increased your AT while the next 4 added powers traditionally associated with 4 other ATs. there are 10 core ATs. plug and chug, do the math.
this round was:
alpha
team buffs
proc debuffs
pets
aoe damage
next will probably include:
ST damage
mezz/some kind of crowd control
some kind of self buff
some kind of direct debuff
omega- probably some kind of mirror to alpha
Right now most toons are monsters with incarnate powers.
With these upcoming slots will things just go over the edge to "unbalanced/overpowered"?
I am sure by the time we get Omega we will be fighting mobs that are higher than level 54. If the pattern continues I would expect 3 more level shifts, so when we finally fight Cole he may be level 60.
Who says the Well is the sole source of mojo around? Just because you will be able to slap down Cole, doesn't mean there aren't bigger fish out and about ready to snack on one.
The Well may be just finding champions to channel into... so they can take out higher level dangers and allow the Well itself to gain more power. Perfect reason for choosing based on power: to be a power play at more power itself.
Explorer: 93%. Achiever: 40%. Socializer: 40%. Killer 33%.
Current Heroes and Villains (altitis holding at 50 currents)
To all the devs, past, present, (and may there be) future: /salute
To NCSoft: Understand that you reap what you plant, and you cannot gain what you throw away.
I think Vitae might be a HP/endurance buff, and Mind might be some kind of mez protection.

The Well is looking for a champion - or champions - because it wants to protect itself an the multiverse from the Coming Storm.

Let's just say, I remember one very important saying people have been repeating for centuries:
Beware Greeks bearing gifts.

Me too! Hehehe...I want to 'solo' a LRSF/STF/etc with my Kin/Rad Def....I want to beat up any AVs/content that beat me up when I was "little" on my main toon Hence why I didn't particularly like not having the other +2 lvl shifts in 'normal' content.

Well, On the CoH Ustream live chat they state that there is another round of global ehancments comming in (about 2mins in) so I'd guess that would be the Omega slot.
I'd guess that there would be some kind of defensive buff, possably a toggle, perhaps Hybrid or Vitae. That fits with the Tank AT if that really is the theme they are going for. Also a Melee baised attack would be very nice. If so, I hope it is one without too much in the way of special effects, but just some devestating display of strength.
Some kind of status effect attack for Mind seems like a good bet. Perhaps working like the interface proc does, but that might be a touch on the powerful side.
Genisis.... That is a difficult one. The name makes you think of something creative, so if we didn't already have Lore, I would have gone for Pets for this on. A self heal or short term buff perhaps?
Hybrid: Im thinking something like interface, but for travel powers.
Genesis: Makes me think life or creation so maybe a body double of yourself.
Mind: Status effect buffs
Vitae: a passive health / def buff
Omega: prolly like alpha, another global buff with a non incarnate lvl shift.
Hybrid: I don't know.
Genesis: Prior to I20, I was thinking that this would be our pet-summoning power, but now with Lore filling that role, I doubt it.
Mind: Status effect buffs or a powerful hold/mez
Vitae: A passive health or endurance buff
Omega: Something like the Alpha Slot, another global buff with an incarnate level shift. I doubt we will get another general level shift
to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
Where is the "FREEEEM" power like when we first got a glimpse of the Incarnate powers? :-)
I am a huge fan of rampant speculation, so here goes mine with what I think will be the base of the four trees on each.
Vitae-Toogle power affecting only self
Toggle- +Def All
Toggle- +Res All
Toggle- Damage Aura (Think Fiery Aura)
Toggle- +Regen
Genesis- Summon
Summon Phil Collins
Summon Mike Rutherford
Summon Tony Banks
Summon Peter Gabriel
Mind- AOE Mez
AOE Confuse
AOE Hold
AOE Immob with DoT
AOE Sleep
Hybrid- Single Target Attack
Something Super Strengthy
Something Fiery
Something Elec/energyesque
Something Icy
Omega- Universal Enhancement
Defense
Resistance
To Hit
Heal/Regen
Hybrid: Unlocks a Catgirl sixth costume slot.
Genesis: Attack power which spawns a rock under your target's feet, hurtling them toward you.
Mind: Summons an indestructible, uncontrollable, Fusionette pet whose only goal is to aggro the entire map.
Vitae: Chain-reaction self-destruct.
Omega: Eliminates breathing, as a tease for those Underwater/Space Zones coming SOON(tm).
or, slightly more seriously:
Hybrid: Enhances Travel Powers (Super Speed adds a vertical component, Teleport adds hover, Super Jump adds stealth, and Flight's cap is raised) and removes Travel Suppression for Incarnate content.
Genesis: Adds Power Slots that can only be enhanced with new Incarnate Recipes (crafted by 1,321 new types of Incarnate Salvage).
Mind: Single-target powers transformed to Targetted AoE or PBAoE Powers.
Vitae: Life- or Endurance-stealing procs added to all attack Powers.
Omega: Boosts previous Incarnate Power effectivity.
So, you think you are strong because you can survive the soft cushions? We shall see!
I know what I want for one of them is far, far too powerful to ever be given to us.
I want a second AT's inherent.
