  1. You sure it should? AFAIK it's only Stalker stealh powers that suprress auras; Same like DA scrappers aren't suppressing Death Shroud and the mezz auras while Cloak of Darkness is ative.
  2. Sorry for the long response, I haven't gotten around to trying it until now. Thanks for the tips however The malware stuff found a threat which I haven't been informed of elsewhere, so that's cool! Also uninstalled McAfee, but have yet to see if there's been a change in-game ^^

About the virus scanner sites, what effect would that have? Is it just a virus scanning software on the internet or would it have some other effects?

  4. This monday I uninstalled my previous antivirus software, primarily because it had been expired for some time and I was adviced to get another. Former was Total Defense, current is Windows Defender.

When I had installed Windows Defender and started playing CoH, my graphics were acting up in the way of me only being able to see black silhouettes of my characters, with auras being the only thing colored. Also, when playing the game the movement in general are kinda stiff, like incomplete, if you understand. They feel different than usual at least, less flowing if you will. These problems occur while I play in Ultra Mode; while playing on Recommended and below the movement is more natural and less laggy.

In terms of trying to solve the problem I've tried both turning off the antivirus software and even turning off my Firewall, but all to no help

I am writing here hoping you people can help me solve this issue.

I expect my DM/Regen will be using Melee Core (Res/Reg), to make her just that more sturdy, while also motivating her to fight bigger size mobs :3 After all, with the sound of approximately 990 % regen, 44 % res (All) and about 60 res (SL), with heals, Shadow meld/MoG and instant healing if I REALLY feel like trolling, I can see her become... interesting

The big dmg on the main target is great, but without the mag 4 stun anymore, TF does not feel "worth it" for the animation time anymore.

Adding splash dmg to TF would only add very marginal AOE. Some, not enough to alter the ST focus of the set, but enough to make TF feel like the animation time is worth the wait.

the splash is also a theme thing, and fits with the animation thematically- you hit the target so hard his pals nearby feel it too sort of thing. The splash on thunderstrike makes the power thematically more fun then TF. heck, I dont think the splash dmg is really even noteworthy in the grand scheme of things. But it makes TS feel damn strong, whereas TF feels strong, but you expect more because of the 3 seconds of jump and the whirring building up power sound FX as you jump.

Changing TF isnto a TS power is as much a theme/visual change as it is an "aoe dmg" change. probably more so- IMO from my experiance on my elec/ scrappers and blasters.
My turn to throw in my voice!

Although I don't have much experience with EM (no 50s, but had a 35-ish brute now rerolled to Inv/EM), I remember always having liked the oomphy animations in the set (new ET just looks like 'Oh, I'm gonna blow your face off with this punch! o.O' and TF feeling like 'Enjoy the last 3 seconds of your life...!'), but I, too, am curious about the changes mentioned to the set (cause yes, there has been redname confirmation about changes to the set in a ustream)

At first, the idea of TF becoming a TS clone made me go meh, but the thought have stuck with me and I've begun to like the idea of it, only I've always felt that TS had a semi-boring animation. For TF-TS, I'd rather want something along the lines of this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcTgYytU68E (2:40-2:50).

I was thinking of making an LR clone, only a TAoE clone of it, meaning the same 20 ft radius, likely upping the recharge on it then, to give the powerset more of a BOOOOOOM!! feel to it. However that would only be for the lulz. For a tweak of the set, I definitely wouldn't hold my breath about this feature

My own 2 inf? Well I do understand how many people want ET's animation to get cut down, and with my own love for the long animation I figured an interesting add to the set (gimmick I suppose). Take the ET wind up (the charging-of-fists animation), make it the new BU power in the way of a dominator Embrace of Fire clone (buff the energy damage of your attacks for 30 seconds, instead of 20), un perma-able. Also, an additional effect could be added to all/some attacks; the FX for the new BU (Let's call it Energy Focus) while in effect would be the same animation the pom poms got for ET right before the hit (Meaning they'd be larger pom poms on your fists. So, in more simple words:

    EM post-my-idea:
BU replaced with Energy Focus: +damage (Energy), +to-hit (maybe) both for 30 seconds, 180 seconds recharge (possibly more, to not OP it), +special
ET: Shorter animation, weaker damage, self damage removed, increased end (maybe) - EF mode: Increased stun mag+ mag 0.67 KD
TF: Same power+Alternate animation: War Walker Ground Slam (Of course adjusted to the right activition time) - EF mode: Turned into TAoE with 7-15 ft radius, energy damage splashing to other targets (of course this damage gets effected by the +energy dam from EF)
WH: EF mode: Increased stun duration, increased magnitude

    --------------------------

To be honest though, this is something I'd consider nice, not something I expect will happen. I am however sure that whatever will be done to the set will be cool

Looking at the unique mechanic itself, is Swap Ammo really even fair? What it loses (some sort of straight dmg buff or utility to aid survival) for the things it gains (basically just flexibility) doesn't seem even when you compare it to the set that borrows its mechanic (Staff Fighting). And I don't think you could make the argument that it's because Staff is a pay set...I believe DP is also a pay set...

Anyway, from my working knowledge of Staff, the set gets 3 toggle stances that not only adds self buffs that stack 3 times and scale higher with each stack, but they also add extra effects and buffs to two of the set's powers.

Conversely, Swap ammo *exchanges* lethal damage for element/toxic damage as well as secondary effects...To state the obvious, the problem is that Swap Ammo adds nothing. If I want the KD/back to help save my rear, I have to use standard ammo. If I want extra DoT, I have to use incendiary. If I want extra mitigative secondary effects, I have to use toxic/cryo rounds. But all of them are exclusive. I can't have the KD + mitigative effects or extra DoT + KD, I have to choose and switch.

So I propose changes to DP through Swap ammo (not saying this is the only additions that should be made to the set, such as cast times or recharge times). A few ideas:

    1. Fresh Ammo: Because reloading during a fight is just bad-A. Fresh Ammo is a momentary buff that adds to the secondary damage and effects of the selected ammo and is granted upon activating an ammo toggle. The buff could last anywhere from 10-15 sec then replaces itself with a 'Half Empty Clip' power that basically blocks getting the Fresh Ammo power for the specific ammo type. Half Empty Clip should last 10-15 sec.
-Standard Ammo counts as an ammo type so removing any toggles gives a Fresh Standard Ammo buff for extra lethal damage and greater chance of KD.
-Incendiary Ammo would have greater chance of DoT and for more tics.
-Cryo and Toxic rounds do a bit extra type damage + higher debuff effects.
-Intended design goal is to reward swapping and using the different ammo types. One can swap between two ammo types occasionally or run the gamut of types, both tactics equally viable. This would allow one to capitalize on the secondary effects of the different ammos or by occasionally turning off and turning back on (reloading), you can get the ammo's effects improved.
    2. Ammo Finishers: Basically the same concept that Staff Fighting uses. Several of the DP powers can be considered 'finishers' and do extra things after swapping to a certain ammo and getting 3 attacks off. I'd nominate Executioner's Shot, Piercing Shot and Hail of Bullets.
-Executioner's Shot: Standard ammo will do a bit more lethal damage and debuff the target's max HP by %. Cryo rounds will debuff the target's resistance to holds and cast a mag 2 hold on the target. Incendiary rounds will do more DoT and cause mag 2 Terrorize on the foe. Toxic rounds will reduce target's max HP and regen.

-Piercing Shot: Standard ammo will reduce resists and defense more as well as cause shrapnel damage (a targeted AoE that hits 3 foes for extra lethal damage). Cryo, Toxic and Incendiary rounds will do more of their typed damage + reduce resists and defense like standard ammo does without building any combos.

-Hail of Bullets: Not sure what each ammo type should do...but it should be amazing.

-I feel that this should be justified in that, Staff gets extra effects on targets with 3 stacks of focus. That DP gets an all-the-time partial damage type swap is equivalent to Staff getting some-of-the-time self buff *extras*.

-This design direction encourages picking an ammo type and staying with it, building upon each attack to improve the ammo type chosen.
    3. Bullet Combos: Because a dual pistoleer isn't just cool looking, they're smart. Dual Pistol ammo attacks come with an enemy tag that flags them for extra effects to be taken advantage of by the user or by other pistoleers. Think of it like a combo of Trick Arrow's oil slick and Gravity Control's impact damage.
-stacking any 3 incendiary round attacks opens up the target for 'Impairment'. Any toxic round attack will have a larger damage debuff + an additional non-stacking resistance debuff.

-stacking any 3 cryo rounds opens up the target for 'Temperature Shift'. Any incendiary rounds will cause extra lethal and fire damage to the target. Can also take advantage of cryo stacking with standard rounds, gaining an extra 'Shattered' smashing damage proc.

-stacking any 3 chemical rounds opens the target up for 'Caustic Gas'. By using cryo rounds the target gains a temp power which works like the Rikti monkeys death cloud. Upon death, the foe will create a cloud of gas that causes sleep + slow movement. You can also take advantage of chem rounds with standard rounds which cause additional bleed (lethal) DoT.

-The design goal is to gain advantages to swapping ammo momentarily, kind of like a short term dmg buff like Aim. Multiple DP characters would improve other DP users, creating synergies. Incendiary + Toxic = debuff, Cryo +Incendiary/Standard = Damage, Toxic + Cryo = Control and Toxic + Standard = damage.
    4. Ammo Focus: Staff fighting gets a combo marker that improves a stat + adds an effect to 2 of their attacks. For Ammo Focus, we'll just take the improve stat part...
-Cryo Ammo: each cryo ammo attack stacks, making all your -rech, -movement and controls better. Maybe with a certain number of stacks, your attacks may start creating short duration ice slicks to slip up the foe as well.
-Incendiary Ammo: each fire ammo attack stacks, making your DoT more reliable. Maybe with a certain number of stacks, your attacks may start creating short duration burn patches that will cause the foe more damage.
-Chem Ammo: each chem shot stacks, making your -dmg debuffs more potent. Maybe with a certain number of stacks, toxic clouds that debuff the foe more may start to form.
-Standard Ammo: each standard bullet stacks into 'bullet time', adding to your personal defense for each shot.
-The design goal of this is one that encourages specialization in ammo choice.
/So.Freaking.Signed! God this would be awesome! I trust you realise we can't by any chance get all of those effects, but it sure as heck would be awesome to get whichever!

Poison is a set that wants to play at range from 1-34. All of its skills from tiers 1-7 are best used at range and there is absolutely no reason for you to dive into a spawn or enter melee range. However, at levels 35 and 38 something odd happens. A set that primarily played at range is suddenly forced to enter melee range to use two of its most powerful skills. Once you get Poison Trap and Venemous Gas, you will drastically change your play style.

This is why I like Dual Pistols with Poison so much. Just like Poison, Dual Pistols is a set that plays best at range up until level 32, at which point it receives Hail of Bullets and a dramatic incentive to enter melee range to unleash carnage. These sets synergize perfectly in regards to leveling approach and they are insanely potent together. You have the option stack massive amounts of -damage debuffs with Weaken, Venemous Gas, and Toxic Rounds all being multiplied by your -resistance debuffs. You also can lay down serious AoE damage with Incendiary Rounds, Bullet Rain, Hail of Bullets, Poison Trap, and all of your debuffs.
+1 for this. My Dual Pistols/Poison corr and blueside main, as I think OP knows , is a big favorite toon of mine that feels like it can be very versatile in combat, with PBAoE slayage in the high levels and flexible in movement while exemplared. I am sure the combo will only be more entertaining if/when the dwevs look at Dual Pistols and increase the DPA of the set!
  11. Another potential case could be making a Staff/DA brute for when the set comes out, although I realise that can be risky as the set likely won't come out before DXP weekend. That said, Staff has some good synergy with DA, for example the Form of the Soul power's ability to lighten the end usage of DA. Furthermore the set has good softcapping abilities with Guarded Spin and fair AoE with beforementioned and Eye of the Storm and Innocuous Strikes.

It's interesting. I always forget about the advantage E/NE cap has over F/C cap, honest to God! I had thought about it while making the build, but I changed my mind somewhy. But yeah, will make the changes, although I think I'll be reaching the golden 5 set rule

Personally, I'd go with Fly + Energy Punch + CJ rather than the three Fly powers. You could also consider picking up Hasten; at the moment DP isn't perma, but having Hasten would definitely help toward that goal. I'd drop ResEl for it if you want to keep three epic powers, most agree that ResEl is the least useful of the resistance passives.
Afterburner: Concept reasons I like the idea that the toon will have the ability to fly fast :3 Have thought about getting Hasten, but I kinda think I'll miss ResEl for it's slow resistance in the end game as well as the earlier levels, so if I'll take it, I'll have to figure something else out. Regarding Energy Punch, will I feel VERY nerfed not taking it? I expect to only play at a normal pace (No AV/GM soloing, likely no TF soloing either, unless I'd overrate myself), so I'd prefer not having to take it unless my performance will, somewhat, feel nerfed.

Well, I personally thought it'd be better with Leviathan, as it offers more AoE than Soul. Besides, among all things Energy Melee needs, I wouldn't say more ST damage is the thing.

All the attacks you have slotted with 4 Kinetic Combat are underslotted for accuracy and damage. I'd add another slot to each; I like the Mako's quad for that purpose.

The fifth slot in UY is unneeded; the F/C def bonus is tiny and not worth slotting for. Use that slot elsewhere.

There are some Taunt sets with very nice bonuses. If possible, find 6 slots for Taunt and put in a full set of Mocking Beratement or Perfect Zinger.

Tough Hide doesn't need end reduction, so I'd replace the fourth slot there with a Kismet +Acc.

Rectified Reticle is a great choice for Build Up, but I'd replace one of the slots with the +Percep IO, since Invul doesn't have any in the set.
Generally thanks for the reply, it's appreciated
  13. Greetings, meatshields!

Let the statement from above be my way to say that I don't have much experience with tankers. However, I have been told that if I want a EM/inv whatever, it should be a tanker. Thus, we're here.

Now, the actual reason this concept was thought of was a) an old flame I had in an EM/EA brute I made God knows when that got deleted for no actual reason (maybe because of old EA) and b) because I got interested in the concept some time ago and thought I'd like to have something for when EM gets looked at (this meaning the toon won't necessarily be made before changes will be informed of/added).

In the build I've went for softcapping s/l, softcapping the other elements, then recharge for perma DP. It is to be noted, by the way, that I will be playing redside with the toon, maybe rogue, will see; any powers I should consider in regards to this? Also, for concept reasons I decided to leave out Energy Punch from the build. Will this decision come back and bite me in the tail?

  14. Having bought 6(+1) months of gameplay in late december, I am to be considered a VIP. However, it is now 12 days into February, I have not played the game at all in this month due to RL stuff but still havent received my paragon points! I checked my game account to see if I had missed something, but it hasn't mentioned any microtransactions for this month...

Bottomline, I haven't got my P-point sallary this month

Edit: Oh and yes, I usually get my paragon points at the start of the month.

    DB/DA build help

Hello people toying with stalkers! I have come to you today to get some help with a Dual Blades/Dark Armor Stalker build.

Background: I recently thought about making a DB toon with some stealth abilities, and quickly thought Dark Armor would be interesting to use with it, for no particular reason. In the meantime, I don't have any experience with Dark Armor, and thus need some slotting help with my build.

    Build notes:
    - As said I don't know what needs what in the set, but my experience with Stalkers tells me that S/L softcap never hurts anything ^^
    - Another thing I do know of is that Dark Armor is end heavy; thus I have taken some of the Energy mastery powers and of course Cardial.

Other than that, please help me with whatever you can

It's a team oriented powerset, the team and self +dmg boost isn't that great except for the rez which gives you +30% and you won't be using all the time. But a good set with any primary if you're into buffing.

I see synergy in Psy/Time the same way I see in my Ice/Time - stacking tons of -recharge (and even more -speed in Ice's case, but Time already has enough of them).
Good points Kioshi; I have thought of the synergy in all the -rech as well, not to mention (as you did before) all the different control effects. I think I'll go with Psy/time then Thanks for your help you two

I have thought about the same, Test_Rat. I think Stalker DB will be more appreciated with the coming changes, if too much won't be changed, of course, because it offers stalkers another relatively AoE heavy set.
  24. Are there any other opinions on this? Or should I understand it that way that I should just roll a Psy/time?
  25. So I've been trying some changes to the build to make it more gameplay wise interesting, as I do imagine I would've been bored with the initial build. Oddly enough it was very difficult to get permadom sans hasten with that build compared to the other, as you will be able to see in the build, but it worked anyway:
