Trapdoor is getting harder.

Are they going to fix the Co-Op issues so people can team together and get credit for him ??
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
Mixing where they spawn = good.
Not being allowed to kite out of sight... not as fond of.
I wonder how tightly his movement is being controlled. Is he still able to move at least far enough to get him in the lava?
The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.
Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
According to the test server patch notes, Trapdoor is now going to 'mix up' where his bifurcations spawn. He also cannot be dragged out of sight of them.
I welcome this change. Tons of other posters have taken to whining and weeping about how hard it is for them to kill him even when they've been given instructions. I say, THANK YOU DEVS! I want harder things to do, more complex tasks! Smashing apart +1/x8 is fun for so long; make us think about what we have to do to get stronger. |
... Like drawing someone away from the source of their regenerative abilities to defeat them, rather than risking ourselves by taking down the clones while getting hit by attacks! Or punting him into the lava and pinning him there with knockbacks. That's thinking about things! None of this crazy just running around shooting everything and trying to wear down enemies, that's just pointless, stupid and boring.
Well then, maybe this will shut up the guys who claim the devs are making things too easy.
YES!

Seriously, he's not hard to kill. And besides, if the Devs changed it, I'm sure it wasn't WAI.

Oooo...I can't wait to try it out on whoever my next incarnate will be!
Might be awhile, but I'm sure I'll be helping other people who want to make all their characters incarnates (I only want the one so far).

Man, I hate Hitpoint McLorescrew-Regennington.

This turns the encounter from something that offers a variety of strategies for different characters into yet another big bag of hit points you have to outgun. Boring. This is a terrible idea.

So my blasterers and defenders and controllers are just supposed to stand there and trade punches with him like they were tanks?
**** THAT NOISE.
Lower left-hand corner: Team. I use it whenever my squishies find a difficult fight.
Agreed.

I am somewhat disappointed that we're losing a valid strategy to defeat him, given prior complaints about "just bigger bags of hit points." I mean, noticing what's going on and doing something to counter it (besides "punch punch punch down purples punch punch" that is.) I've handled him different ways with different ATs. My controllers and doms took advantage of the fact he CAN be held to keep him from spawning anything. Melee? Beat on him. Sometimes in lava, sometimes not. MMs? Swarm, sometimes with T1s chasing the clones. Khelds? One kited, two beat on him in the lava. My defenders kited.
Of the group of characters I have in the 40s, I think the only one I'm going to have to find a different strategy for will be the Sonic/Sonic, since I tend to want to solo this arc.
Now, if they introduced some other way you could handle him (not including temp powers, etc) I would be fine with losing this angle. But that's more an encounter redesign than a mob redesign.
I haven't had to take out the clones or drag him in the lava for any of the characters I completed it with, even squishies. For those who think it's hard, you can either find a team or use inspirations.

Every time I've done this mission I've had no problems. I just killed his bifurcations as they spawned. I never saw him spawn more than two or three over the course of the fight. If you're getting hit hard, pack some purples/oranges/greens.
@Demobot
Also on Steam
On my blaster I just jumped up to the balcony area and pelted him and his clones from above, stepping out of sight whenever I took too much damage. Worked like a charm.
Well.. good thing all my 50s are Incarnates already....
Pulling him into the hallway IS a viable strategy. just the same as pulling Recluse's lts. away from the square and pulling Reichsman down to a corner and holding him there by Taunt.
If you want to make the fight tougher- what's wrong with setting half the clones to always follow him or boosting his own regen so he's not soo dependent on the clones. Flat out Removing a strategy is a bad decision. I hate to sound like this, but it is a cheap way out.

Both the plasmatic taser, and the hand grenade have KB, and both are temp powers, and they havent fixed the lava nuking his regen yet.. so.. knock him in the lava, via temp powers, and keep him there either hover blasting over his head, or immobilizing him.
really, its that simple.
1) Get trapdoor in lava
2) Keep him there
3) ???
4) PROFIT!
It'd be nice if people would restrain themselves from posting SOLELY to gloat and be dicks about things. But we know that's not gonna happen.
I agree with those sad that the devs are cutting off a valid strategy and further narrowing the options. I've beaten him solo and teamed and probably won't have problems doing so in the future, but the "nah-nah-you-suck" gloating just makes you look like a tool.
