Aww man, now I'm TOTALLY bummed! I'm too po' to donate!
Maybe we should start a lop-sided butt awareness campaign on the boards! I could get behind that! |
Great. Now I know how Einstein, Oppenheimer and the rest felt.
What have I wrought!
What does the OP mean by 'skilled' players in the subject line?
total kick to the gut

You may not be happy with the Incarnate system but 50s needed content. If they do 2 new TFs every release, I will be quite happy in a year.
One more thing, everyone will play these tfs a zillion times. Skill has nothing to do with it!
I didn't get any shards in the first mission I ran after unlocking my alpha

First: The RNG controls everything. Get used to it.
Second: 'Skill' based games such as Earth of Battlecraft (hur hur) usually have 'talent trees' that are frequently imbalanced and bring about waves of nerfs and 'adjustments' as well as equipment that (while making you look silly) can make or break your character if you forget to use one. I don't want that bull@#$% in my CoH/CoV.
Third: I got my Alpha Slot filled within an hour of unlocking it. Call the waaaahmbulance, the problem you're having is not commonplace.

Incarnate System: an insult to skilled players
1. Using the RNG (Random Number Generator) to distribute Incarnate Shards puts them in the hands of undeserving players and can deny the shards to worthy players. |
Please give me your global and I will email all of my shards and components as soon as pobbisil..
you can even have my Rikti merits for the Grai matter.
One day I hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me for not being worthy.
I will now go punish myself in some cruel and unusual manner <I'll eat a cheese burger> in an attempt to let you know that you are my superior in every way.
I am not worthy.
Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
There is little to no skill involved in a MMO.
That was the first problem of many in this post.

In case you missed the main point of my OP, I think something as important to the future of the game should be based on principles more profound than those relying on the RNG and Luck. Ramiel's Arc to open the Alpha Slot was a foundation that should be built upon instead of becoming an important but isolated mission.

the future of the game is the number of folks willing to pony up 15 bucks
to play it each month.
I'm fairly sure that imposing some arbitrarily, plucked-from-air "worthiness"
criteria for players, beyond the usual concepts of teaming and effort,
runs contrary to that goal.

I think that NCsoft's (and by extension the devs) most important point for
the future of the game is the number of folks willing to pony up 15 bucks to play it each month. |
You're telling me that a business that charges their customers a flat rate based on time created a time sink?!
What is this world coming to?!!!
They must be ebil marketeers.

So... In Fritzy's world, if a bunch of "unworthy" players teamed up and ran a few TF's, would the shard drops then determine who the REALLY unworthy players were? And if those really unworthy's then teamed.... and so on, and so on.
Holy mother of holies! We could then determine who is truly the worst player ever. They'd be the one with ALL the cool stuff!
"Misbegotten Moon"---Fighting stupidity with stupidity.
Seriously though, who'd be responsible for assigning shards, assuming a RNG isn't used? Merit is fine, but the whole idea would eventually reek of favoritism!
no, not too srs

I'll have another chat with "Random Number Generator" tonight. I thought that I had this all sorted out with him in our last counseling session. He promised that he would smooth things out and give more to the needy and deserving folks.
Obviously he lied. Back to step one for him!

People, you're not able to see the big picture here. The OP is exactly right about all of it. If the developers do not take action, this game will be gone to the Americans!
...and hey, my gun nut tags are out of date! *fixes*
