I liked it, though I'm more used to the sarcastic Green Arrow of JLU than this more....bloodthirsty, borderline insane version.

Quote:That's not exclusive to this game though. A certain juggernaut that's been touting 11 million players for years is now down around 9 million. Another recently released "heavy hitter" that was claiming 1.5+ million players in the spring has now needed to merge servers and is going F2P in a couple months. Now, both of those games have or are about to see a big spike due to a new expansion and F2P respectively, but within a year you'll likely see yet another gradual decrease in players."Healthy" is subjective. Most agree, however, that the facts show that the game has been in steady decline for years.
I think it's just all part of the Circle of MMO Life. -
3-inch high cardboard boxes that impede the progress of a person who should be able to walk through a cinder block wall with ease.

Quote:I feel the same way. I was hoping this wouldn't show up until November 29th with no sign of the game being saved. Spoiling it all now, then going back and changing everything to reflect the game being saved (if it were saved) just seems....wrong to me. Like New 52 wrong (except I'm sure PS would've done a better job with the New 52).I thank you Posi for all you have done. I love City of Heroes. I was hoping and still am hoping that City of Heroes could be saved. I thought maybe since you had not answered this stuff yet you were holding off cause the end may not come. I am sorry to say this dashes my hopes some.
Still, downloaded and saved just in case.... -
Quote:I see what you did there....I generally admire the maturity of our community's reaction to the planned closing of CoH and all the resulting efforts to prevent those plans from achieving fruition.
Butt...
I don't think we have it here, but SWG had a /rude emote that came up as an "unrecognized salute" or something to that effect. It was quite useful for getting your point across. -
Quote:That really bugs them doesn't it? Despite evidence to the contrary (sure there are clones running around the existing games, but I'd bet they're vastly outnumbered by original characters). They sued Cryptic because players could do that in CoH, now this. Meanwhile, in DCUO, they GIVE YOU armor that'll make your character look like several of their established heroes. It's just funny to me."they haven't said that you cannot make your own characters in the game, have they?"
Yes they have said exactly that. Many have gone on to say that this is because people will only make Marvel clone characters if given the opportunity.
I didn't care for Ultimate Alliance, so I likely won't be getting what appears to be Ultimate Alliance Online. -
They did not, probably because they aren't allowed to. However, after the Unity Rally last weekend, Zwill (or another redname, can't remember exactly) said that our efforts have been noticed.

Quote:This. I wasn't really ever as bad off as some, but from Black Friday, on I said I'd be here until the servers shut off be that in 3 months or 3 years. Still, running around DA, it did feel strange to be running around doing stuff knowing the end was nigh. Then one of the leaders of the Freedom Horde TF group popped in and organized a Posi 1 and 2 run (which I'd yet to do).My point is... I understand exactly how you feel. But I do implore you - try to get involved. Watch the LFG channel. And if you see anybody asking for group for something you want to do on your bucket list - or even if you think you'd just like to randomly help someone - DO IT.
It WILL make you feel better.
At one point we're zipping through SC some bounding around with super jump, others flying either on their own or with jet packs, a few speeding around on superspeed, and me (taking up the rear) running and jumping around with ninja run. But that scene unfolding like that instilled so much heroic pride in me I don't think I stopped smiling all night.
For the record, I almost never get involved in group stuff. I'm a soloer 99.999% of the time. -
Quote:I haz one too after just now reading about Utility Belt. I don't normally go on to beta and just wait for the updates to hit and adjust accordingly (this is the only MMO I was like that with too, most others I watch beta like a hawk; guess that's how much faith I have in the team to push something awesome each update and not break everything). So I wasn't caught up on all these new power pools. Now, I'm sad and angry that we might not see I24 cause UB would've been awesome on my main. The truly sad thing is that NCSoft would have likely seen an uptick in sales from i24, i25, i26, and the Super Secret Project the devs had been working on.
I haz a sad. :'( -
Quote:I just rolled a new character that uses superspeed and immediately thought "wish I could could either change the color or brightness of the SS effect".....Yup. Was really excited about those coming origin pools. If sorcery tickled you, don't you dare track down the in-development pools that some folks discovered whilst pigg diving. No. You don't want to know about Utility Belt and it's slottable [Freerunning].
This. The blaster changes. The pool customization. The bodysuit costume pack and the cybertech dreadlocks. When I think about these things I get both sad and angry about the decision to axe the game and the hardworking folks at the studio. i24 was going to be glorious IMO.
*sigh*

Quote:Yeah I need to hurry up and run the Praetorian content on my main. Have yet to do the iTrials, but I lose VIP in a couple days.... :/I definitely want to try and hit the cap, at least, on my flagship hero and villain, by doing all the quests on the way up. I at least want to see the whole story of the game before it's gone forever.
I also want to see Night Ward on my flagship Praetorian, but I only unlocked First Ward content for Premium ...
However, I just rolled a new character today that's playing through all the old beginner content (Flux, Wincott, etc). -
Yeah just uploading the screenshot in the "earliest screenshot" thread, I found out it tagged everything down to the map I was on. Didn't know about the teammates, but I guess now I get to go looking through my TF screens to see who all was there.

September 2007 it looks like. This was taken on the family computer which had some extremely out-of-date graphics drivers, so whenever I logged in, no matter where I went, the bottom half of the screen was whatever the scenery was at the time of log-in.Also as you might be able to tell I was in a Transformers mood cause of the movie. I don't think I've touched that character in years.

Quote:It's been stated in other threads that had this subject brought up, but I think it may be good to do it again here, in regards to bringing up lawsuits I really think that may be counterproductive to what we've been trying to do. I understand the anger that you're feeling, believe me I feel the same, but we need NCSoft to play ball with us, as well as potential investors and talks of lawsuits will either just make NCSoft think they made a wise decision or scare off investors. We're still in the saving the game phase, either by reversing the decision or selling it to another company that'll keep the game going, lets just stay focused on that for the moment.Quote:QFT - Running around screaming "I'm gonna sue you!" is not the most productive way in trying to get negotiations started.
It's been just over a week, yes they probably should have said something by now, but I seriously doubt a company that's already in dire financial straights will do something that will cost them even more money in a court. Who knows, maybe they're being so quiet because there's something going on behind the scenes that'll make refunds a non-issue (ex: selling the game off, continuing operation with new investors, etc). -
That was pretty good. Harley was spot on and Nightwing was good too. Like houtex, I chuckled at "Batman as himself", lol.

Has anyone sent anything to G4; specifically X-Play? I seem to recall Morgan Webb is a fan of ours, and since they do game news as well as reviews, they may report on our situation and the various efforts to save the game in a positive way.

Quote:I'm actually quite surprised no one's told me to go get...umm...well, relieve some stress. That's usually I'm told when I get excited over nerd stuff. Maybe everyone's just unfriending/unfollowing me.....Hey. Psst. When I said "the power is yours?" That's when you do stuff. Have all your friends gotten sick of you telling them to show their support on the petition yet?
-
This. Now's not the time to be making enemies or making them worse. Some may see NC as an "enemy" for starting this war, but all indications so far are that they're in peace talks. And really, they're in the position of power. Piss them off, and they could make any of the many rescue efforts far more difficult than they already are. Think Teddy Roosevelt's famous quote could apply here: "speak softly, and carry a big stick."
-
Someone else to consider is Rooster Teeth as they are not only famous among the nerdy but they also have a history with CoH promoting Mission Architect.

Quote:Could see a "resurgence" in player numbers based on the publicity this whole event draws, should this game be saved. People are going to be curious about what made this game so great that even though it was on the edge of oblivion, the players and dev team fought tooth and nail to keep it from going over.Let's assume for a moment that through one event or another, CoH is snatched from the abyss at the last moment AND development on the game is able to continue.
Issue 24's title is/was Resurgence!
Let that sink in a bit. The title would galvanize our efforts, and be perhaps the biggest resurgence possible for an MMO. Now with that in mind, wouldn't you want to tell your friends about it? Wouldn't that be an excellent selling point? Ripples. Lots of them.
A success here would speak volumes about our community. And it would all be true, we are that awesome.
Don't give up quite yet.
I may be wrong, but to this point I think this is the largest and strongest organized effort to alter a game's course (be that in terms of content like Mass Effect 3, or shut-down in our case) that we've seen. I wonder if NCSoft saw this coming. I'm sure they knew there would be anger, disappointment, and some resistance.....but not something on the scale of what actually is going on here.
The takeaway here for game publishers is "do NOT piss off 40,000+ people who spend their free time pretending to be superheroes/villains."
