Great, the incarnate system requires completing a mission arc
God-like?
My only worry there is that people are actually starting to extrapolate Freem to figure out what the rest of the Incarnate system will be like, specifically level shifts. Depressingly, it turns out at the end of time, I will be able to obliterate archivillains with power blast, stand toe to toe with the crystal titan, laugh at ghost widows's mez, and turn Statesman and Recluse into crash test dummies. I will have the power of the gods at my command and become an unstoppable force to rival the combined might of the greatest entities in all the dimensions. And yet, my flight speed will still suck. |
In my book Incarnate = fingers!
(well not really but I really want fingers for my toons)
Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind
OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!
How about this: step out of the AE long enough to remember why you bought and played in the first place?

Seriously - if you don't want to do the Incarnate content, *do not do it* but you do NOT get to complain that you can't access the Incarnate SYSTEM because of it.
|
But that's not what the OP said. The OP didn't say they didn't want to do Remiel multiple times
|
I should specify, though, that I'm not against the existence of the arc. I'm sure it's a fine arc and I know a lot of people have been enjoying it.
It's just that I, personally, can't stand the thought of it.
List of already annoying/repetitive tasks: Go to the Hollows to talk to Wincott (heroes) Go see Perez Park Security Chief (heroes) Go to the Bloody Bay Rep (heroes/villains) Cape Missions (everyone) Aura Missions (everyone) Go to the Siren's Call Rep (everyone) Go to Stephanie Peebles (heroes) Go to the Mission Architect Tour. (heroes/villains) Go to the University/CDEC (everyone, multiple times if you switch) Go to the Warburg rep (everyone) Intro to Ouroboros (everyone) Intro to Cimerora (everyone) The Incarnate arc will be there for every single level 50 to do. And we'll have to do it in order to unlock the Incarnate slot. |
If you just going to add things you do more than once for its reward, you might as well list the entire game.
Anyone doing the uni inventory multiple times on a single character because they can by swapping sides is more than a bit masochistic.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

Shoot on sight, please.
Most of these things I've skipped and never bothered about after the first few times, unless it was for a reward I wanted (badge for invention tut).

Any reward that most characters would want should have multiple ways to unlock said reward.
Also, the contacts should not:
- Place themselves in my contact list without permission. Any active contact (and all the ones I list are active) should be able to be dismissed completely.
- Force me to go to X NPC to be told about a feature that I already know about (Hollows, PVP contacts, "tutorial" contacts).
- Force players to use a mechanism designed to report and get around faulty missions because there is no way to bypass them otherwise.

Edit:
Just found out tonight that you HAVE to complete the Ouro Intro arc to access Ramiel's arc. So what was this about the Ouro arc being optional?

People have been complaining literally for years about content that has to be repeated to the point it gets stale, yet the developers ignored all that and took the original plan of multiple ways to unlock the Incarnate system and reduced it to a single arc. An arc that some people don't like. It has nothing to do with being able to beat it or not (and I've done it solo and with groups). It has to do with repetition.

What are you willing to sacrifice to make those extra options, and what do you tell the players that wanted those things you decided to sacrifice? Its easy to say the devs should do more, but this is a zero sum game. Asking them to do more is trivial. The hard part is telling them what to stop working on. And it has to be something that will free the correct assets to make an entire playable mission arc, not something irrelevant, like new auras.

I agree with the OP. I would like to add that I hate having to defeat mobs for xp. I have to do this for every single toon that I build. This gets really annoying and repetative. This combined with the fact that I have to log into the game before I can even defeat a mob. Of course, I have to turn on my computer before I can log into the game. The whole concept is just a big american conspiracy or something. I get so tired of having to DO something to GET something all the time.
I saw some one advertising that they were forming a team for the arc, so I figured what the hell?
And holy crap, this is the worst arc I've ever played. How do I stab it out of my memory?

I'm also willing to sacrifice that cutscene in Ramiel's arc, the "time echoes" enemy group, and the whole "echoes of all the archvillains and I'm so uber they can't touch me" shtick, as well as the giant robot-less giant robot map in the Trapdoor mission. Getting rid of some of the frills should make the arc itself less work. Less work means they could have two for heroes, one "heroic" and one "vigilante," and two for villains, one "I'm gonna take over the world," and one more Rogue-like.
This would alleviate the repetition. I would also like to get rid of Rikti spawning right in front of Lieutenant Vanguard Jerkface so he doesn't get stuck and can be pulled. I would also cut down the dialogue from the contacts. It's ME becoming an Incarnate, the arc should be ME doing stuff to get there, not a wall of text from the contact, followed by a mission that I can stealth through and pick off one or two EBs to complete. This would make the arc more fun and something I wouldn't mind repeating, rather than just clicking through it and trying to get done as fast as possible.

What was so bad about it?
Tell us!
It's boring. Too many talk to X missions. At least we can easily stealth through the arc.
I had no problem with the arc itself. I can easily run it in 20-30 mins so even having to do it on all my toons isnt really that big a deal.
My problom is with the drop rate of shards. I completed the arc then farmed lib tv mish at lvl 50+ like 5 times and still have not got a shard! They do drop on tv farms right?
All 50s have a chance of dropping Shards - but soloing isn't the best way to get them

I'm all for having more content and more options in theory. So how long do you want to wait for it. Do we delay the Incarnate system until we have three ways to unlock Incarnates? Seven. There are people with thirty level 50s and some with more. What's the magic number that the game design handbook says is the correct amount.

I liked the idea that Incarnate Status could be won through one of the end game TFs (the very same ones that drop Incarnate Salvage). I'm happy with the arc. I did not enjoy walking down to the nearest Merit Vendor and dropping a handful of merits for God-Like power.
But that was just me.
