No no no, you guys are misunderstanding this whole thing.
The arc to unlock incarnate stuff is a punishment for all the monkey farmers. *all-knowing nod* See, they have somewhere around 300 level 50 characters, but none of those characters mean anything if they're not incarnate.

EVERY CHARACTER has to go through the same content somewhere along the lines. Do you only do every TF only once or something? How the hell do you play if you don't repeat content?

Maybe I'm alone here, but I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE having to do missions to unlock content. It's probably the biggest complaint I have with the game. Capes, Auras, ITF, even Patron powers. It is so irritating to have to do a certain arc just to be able to go do some thing fun/interesting. I have like four level 50s who can't access capes just it's such a pain to unlock them. I didn't think it would be easy or quick to be able to become Incarnate, but having to do a story arc is just annoying. I don't expect to use the Incarnate system at all. |
I absolutely love doing missions to unlock content. I'm happy they chose this mechanics and hope they continue to do so for all the remaining Incarnate slots.

Putting the word HATE in all caps several times is the only way to emphasize how much I hate it, since I can't use tone of voice in text. Maybe next time I'll put "(<-Read in a really angry voice!)" instead.

As a side example, I love doing the Midnighter mission blueside on all my characters. It's a minor challenge (some ATs do not fare well solo against rikti) and it gives me a major temporary power -- the Lost Cure. I carry that thing around for months. It's an instant-win against any Lost boss in any mission, and that includes the Positron TFs. It's hilarious to run across a Lost boss ranting about how he's going to destroy you, and you turn him into homeless Joe with a single click. That's the kind of content I'll gleefully repeat over and over again.
Since the end of the Incarnate arc gives me a new special power slot, I'm sure it's content I'm going to enjoy also.

No, that doesn't mean what you think it means.
You can do content unlocking the Incarnate Arc.
You can then do content IN the Incarnate Arc.
Both are content.
In a TF - you do a mission to unlock the next mission.
In the Eden Trial you defeat a bunch of DE, you defeat the 2 monsters so you can defeat the stone wall and then on to defeat the next wall, and then on to gather ambrosia, and then on to free the heroes, and then on to defeat the Titan.
Each one unlocks the next. It's called CONTENT.
I think I nearly ran out of facepalm potential on this thread.
