Great, the incarnate system requires completing a mission arc

I'm sure this is old news to a lot of people, but some people don't read up on the details of issues before they're released.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE having to do missions to unlock content. It's probably the biggest complaint I have with the game. Capes, Auras, ITF, even Patron powers. It is so irritating to have to do a certain arc just to be able to go do some thing fun/interesting. I have like four level 50s who can't access capes just it's such a pain to unlock them.

I've been told it's a short arc, but I really don't care...Having to do it on every toon I want Incarnate access on would be so tedious. I didn't think it would be easy or quick to be able to become Incarnate, but having to do a story arc is just annoying. I don't expect to use the Incarnate system at all.

I'm confused. How would you prefer something like Incarnate levels be unlocked?

Are you saying that they should just be automatically unlocked when you hit 50? Or?

Um, the vast majority of the game's content is mission based. You're seriously trying to tell us that you don't get capes for your toons because running the cape mission arc is too painful, and that you won't get any Incarnate stuff on your toons because you have to run a mission arc?

Seriously?

Your loss then, I suppose.

I don't mind.

Most of my characters leveling involed doing arcs... In fact that pretty much all I did.

Much better than doing the 5 tip missions every day (If they arn't on cooldown due to me needing to do other things at times)

Okey dokey....

I'm puzzled by how you even play the game, honestly, if a short mission arc is too much for you. 90% of the game is mission arcs.

Yes.

I love running missions. Missions are great. But having to do certain missions, on several characters, to enjoy a certain aspect of the game? No thanks. I'd rather go do a mission I want to do because I want to do it.

Check the beta forums, there was a very long discussion on it. The problem was back in the GR beta it was unlocked by either spending merits (as a solo option) or running one of the level 50 TFs (ITF, STF, LGTF, LRSF). People complained about it. So the devs took that away and added the arc which caused complaints from the people who liked the TFs.

Personally I can see the reasons for adding the arc but I would have prefered it if they had added the arc and kept the original methods. That way people could choose to run the arc (if they enjoy it or simply want the story) or run TFs if that's more their thing.

So, then we shouldn't mention that you can't even access a ton of stuff if you don't buy Going Rogue?

Don't most of the games today require you to unlock something? I do not get what is the problem is.

Not sure what has to do with any thing since buying Going Rogue isn't a mission. :\

And although tips to get tedious, those are at least some what varied. The same arc on several characters is not.

I hate leveling up to be able to access content. Did I mention I also hate having to collect influence to access content from stores?

Content should come on a silver platter carried by succubus cat-girls that smile that smile, and twitch their tails alluringly.

oh, and a fanfare should play.

I'm speechless. Seriously, I don't even know what to say to this. This is the craziest complaint I've seen in a long time. I almost can't believe that the OP is serious.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Damn!

First they make you play content to get to level 50... and now THAT?!?!?

... Evil. You and I need to stop agreeing. It's creeping me out.

As far as craziest complaint... okay. Yeah. This is up there in probably one of the all-time craziest complaints EVER.

The sarcasm is cute, despite not addressing the point at all.

I guess what it boils down to is that I wouldn't bother with the arc if there was no reward, so I really have no interest in doing it just for a reward.

...And yes I'm aware that sounds really backwards.

I know, right? I mean, take the ITF. I just want to defeat Romulus and save Cimerora. But you have to complete THREE OTHER MISSIONS before you can do that! I mean, what's up with THAT?

(That said, ah, I guess I wouldn't complain *greatly* if one of my characters could whisper the Midnighters' secret password to another one on occasion. I mean, who really cares about saving the Lost anyway?)

I can understand not wanting to repeat stuff across lots of characters, but seriously, you had to repeat stuff to get lots of characters. I get the concept, but not the extreme reaction you seem to have.

What are people supposed to do with your point, aside from stare in amazement at the crazy? Reprogram the game?

I don't think it's unreasonable that the incarnate content is locked. I will say, however, that I probably will be doing the unlock on several of my characters and I'm not looking forward to doing the same arc over and over and over again in the space of the next few weeks.

Yes, I've probably done the Freaklympics arc more already than ever I will the Incarnate unlock arc, but it has at least been spread out. I got burned out on the Midnighter arc in a real hurry when that was released, I don't see this incarnate one being much different.

My story arcs: #2370- Noah Reborn, #18672- The Clockwork War, #31490- Easy Money

Um...the arc was probably intended to be an extra bit of something fun and interesting.

Okay, okay, I understand your complaint. You sound like a pure Achiever -- you want the prize at the end of the struggle, and everything leading up to getting the prize bores you. Fine.

You are in the minority. Many people are grateful that there is that little extra bit of story, or content to explore, or challenge to face. We run out of content and challenge all the time in this game. A little more is a good thing. Except for people like you for whom the prize is everything and the journey there is meaningless.

I don't have any advice for you. You're a minority. You have to adapt to what the majority wants. I don't think it's too onerous this time, so you'll manage.
