Yay! More DC 'toons. Never got into Batman: Brave and the Bold due to the VA for Bats. Sorry Oswald, Conroy is always gonna be animated Batman to me.

Gah...

Half of me is going Grr over this (as most of you probably know why), but the other half can't wait to see it!

The part about the show that weirds me out is that they have Connor as Superboy, Wally as Kid Flash and Dick as Robin.

I'll just pretend Bart is Kid Flash and Tim is Robin to put my minor nitpicking aside and enjoy the show cause it'll most likely be good.

It's running opposite of a marathon of every Avengers episode to date that leads up to the premiere of the Gamma World 2-parter on Disney XD. Glad I've already seen the episodes that are running against it.

EPIC.

Any quibbles with continuity/versions are forgiven when a show is this much fun.

For all the random hacking he does in the premiere, I'm just going to assume that it's Tim even if they tell us in an episode differently anyways.

This.

Definitely enjoying it so far. Looking forward to more of it.

Yeah, looking over Young Justice animated series on Wiki, seems they wanted to use the original sidekicks for Robin and Flash.

Didn't care for Speedy's outfit. I liked his Teen Titans outfit more.

I'm guessing Artemis is going to be the same Artemis from the Amazon Island.

It's actually set on Earth-16, so theres not really much in the way of continuity that could be wrong.

*EDIT*

Also, in retrospect, I'm not suprised the premier was so good. Greg Weisman, creator of Gargoyles and supervising producer for Spectacular Spider-Man, is one of the Co-Creators. The other is the guy who produced the "Under the Red Hood" animated movie.

Actually, it was already established before the premiere that Robin is Dick Grayson, while Kid Flash is Wally West.

Ive just watched the premiere this morning (in the UK here) and thought it was really good. It had a nice mix of the style of the Justice League series and the Teen Titan series. I can't wait for more

A great start to what promises to be one of the best DC shows yet. A couple of things jumped out at me:

-Aqualad is instantly likable. I was afraid he'd be a repeat of Spyke from X-Men Evo, and I wasn't sure Khary Payton could carry the character after only hearing him as Cyborg from Teen Titans, but he really has the chops here.

-They've scaled down Kid Flash's powers nicely to deal with the problems of writing for speedsters. He has trouble stopping and steering and building momentum, but he's got the whole human cannonball thing going on.

-They've got Robin in more of a 'tactical support' kind of role, hanging back and using his head to make plans and field lead. I like that better than if he had charged Blockbuster head on with exploding batarangs or electric brass knuckles.

-Superboy can't fly, doesn't have heat vision, nor does he seem particularly fast. What can he do? He traded blows with Blockbuster, but then so did Aqualad. He survived a building fall on him, but so did everyone else. They must really be banking on the super-hearing being his niche on the team. And not one mention of 'tactile-telekinesis'.

-They're totally setting up some chemistry between Miss Martian and Superboy. That's going to cause a stink with some comic fans who prefer him with Wonder Girl. I can see it working, though. Consider Robin, KF and Aqualad have families and other lives while I'm betting SB and MM will be residents at the headquarters, for now at least. So they may be spending a bit of time together.

-Speedy's tantrum and departure was a little forced. I can accept that maybe there was some things going on behind the scenes with Green Arrow and him and this was it coming to a head, but without that development it seemed rushed. I know he's going to be back as Red Arrow, but I hope we get some flashbacks to give viewers a better perspective on his frame of mind at that point.

Overall, I enjoyed the show quite a bit, despite the whole irksome Kid Flash and Robin ID business.

The delivery of some of the lines was a little stilted, but I can only imagine that'll disappear as the actors get used to their roles and gain rapport with their colleagues.

LOVED some of the expressions. For example, that kind of forced smiled Kid Flash shoots Aqualad when they decide to go to Cadmus was hilarious for some reason.

On the other hand... whoa. Wally is now Jimmy Olsen?

I saw it and liked it.

The best thing about to me is that they did a fantastic job of separating Young Justice from the Teen Titans with just that premiere, which was my biggest concern.

Also since they were using the Justice League I was curious if they were going to use Hal or John and I was pleasantly surprised to see they put both of them on the League.

Of course it's not Tim Drake...only wears his costume, acts like him, hangs with the same guys as him, exists during the same time period. In other words...Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, but is definitely a goose.

Saw the back half of this. was good to me so far.

The question is whether they say Superman and Batman jr are programs or not, as that is the only other thing we know about this universe.

I did not know about Weisman's efforts on YJ, but it speaks volumes about how it respected the source material while going in different directions. "Spectactular Spider-Man" was about the best representation of 30 years of Spider-Man stories I've ever seen, but I digress...

I really enjoyed the YJ premiere...and can't wait for the series to start in January. A couple of comments:

1) It's my understanding Robin has already been identified as Dick Grayson. I liked the "laughing young daredevil" concept injected through his of-screen chuckles, even if they do sound a little Jokerish and creepy.

2) Comic history has Wally and Dick as best friends. I certainly got that vibe from their interactions here. Nice job, production team.

3) Had absolutely ZERO problem with Speedy throwing a hissy-fit early on and leaving. He was always the "black sheep" of the superhero set, and while he's redeemed himself on several occasions, the attitude problem certainly fits him. I just hope they bring him back from time to time (yes, I know Arrowette/Artimis is coming instead).

4) "Why's Batman so...grumpy?" asked the wife.
"Batman's ALWAYS grumpy, honey. It's his thing," said I.
"But he's gonna be giving them missions. He acts like he HATES those kids."
"Told ya, honey. It's his THING."

5) I don't really know "not-Garth" Aqualad or Miss Martian well enough to comment about them. Aqualad seems to be the "Green Lantern-energy-projector-but-with-water" guy, while Miss Martian, of course, will represent all da ladies in da house. Why couldn't they have just gone with Wonder Girl...either version (Donna or Cassie)?

6) Introducing Cadmus as "chief big-bad" early on will give at least the first season some focus. Again, good job production team. Plus it was a (fairly natural) way of introducing Superboy. Yes, a little derivative of the "Secret Origins" intro for Justice League, but it still worked. Guardian, Dubblex and Cadmus were all fantastic touches and additions.

7) Is it me or did Superman kinda act like a deadbeat dad when he was around Superboy? Just a thought, "Jason-from-Superman-Returns"!

8) Finally, I have some loose theories that connect the the Batman, Superman, Justice League and Teen Titans together with "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" and the Young Justice series. If you're interested, PM meh and I'll fling my geek all over you.

9) Have I mentioned I'm looking forward to January?

From what I understand Speedy comes back as the Red Arrow later in the series.

Another thing from what I understand there was copyright/legal issues preventing them bringing in Wonder Girl at the beginning of the story and she will be coming in later.

So Time line in Earth-16 as far as been revealed by producers and such...

Yr -5 = Miss Martian born?
Yr -4 = Wally West born. Artemis born.
Yr -2 = Dick Grayson born.
late Yr 0 = Superman's debut.
Yr 01 = Batman's debut. Billy Batson born.
Yr 06 = Dick Grayson becomes Robin.
Yr 10 = Superboy created. Young Justice forms.

So that's what we know >.>

Not sure how I feel about their depiction of Superboy yet, but I suppose it makes sense if Cadmus was trying to make a "good little soldier" for them to control when he took over as Superman. I just think having him as the brash, arrogant showboat of the team trying to hide his insecurities and inexperience might've worked better as a contrast with Superman instead of Grumpy McScowlpants, but whatever. The core three (Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad) were all very well done, particularly in their interactions with each other and the initial fleshing out of their future roles in the new team. Although, part of me was kind of hoping we'd get a nod to Mr. Twister from the original comics team-up of those three in the episode.

Also, maybe just me, but I thought it was a nice touch getting CSI's George Eads to play Barry/Flash...

They couldn't bring Wonder Girl in for the same reason they couldn't use Plastic Man for Justice League Unlimited. Because of legal issues they were prohibited from using her. However, those restrictions have been lifted, so she'll be in later. Also of note is that Garth WILL make an appearance, most likely as Tempest.

He was meeting his clone. I mean, how would you react if you suddendly learned that some secret organization had cloned you?

I don't expect Red Arrow to actually join the team, if what I've read is correct and Artemis will be their archer.

I missed the show, anybody know if it can be watched online anywhere?

Well, keep in mind that this was most likely the first time that Superboy was outside his tube. He was still developing, and getting used to his powers. Plus, his suit was designed to absorb Solar Radiation, which (Much like Superman) gives him his powers. Considering that he was underground AND it was night time, most likely meant that Superboy wasn't able to access his full powers. Plus, as he trains and learns, it's quite likely he'll develop his full suite of powers. And really, it also makes sense if you think about it, since Superman (originally) could only leap tall buildings rather then actually fly.

Drugs'll do that to you.

On another note, I was amused with the Kid Flash/Speedy joke.

"No, Speedy is Green Arrows sidekick!"
"But that doesen't make any sense!"
