Scott Pilgrim vs.... The Expendables?

Well both movies launch on the same date. That's going to require some people to make some choices. Me?

Scott Pilgrim for me.

Yeah I know you can see both films in the theatre. The point is, most likely people will only see one that weekend. Which do you choose?

I'm going to see The Expendables, first.

1. I need a ridiculous action flick in my system, right now.
2. Much like what is demonstrated by you lot, everyone else is most likely going to go see Scott Pilgrim first. May as well take advantage of that.

The Expendables for me.

Because I don't really like that guy in Scott Pilgrim and everything I've seen on the movie has me marginally interested at best. I suspect it will be an over-quoted, overhyped movie that I will find unpalatable - like Napolean Dynamite.

The Expendables, are what I will be watching first if I have my say in the movie watching this week.

If not, it will be Scott Pilgrim...which I am not too keen on seeing.

Expendables.

Reason? Watching Sly Stallone & crew be themselves is eminently preferable to watching Michael Cera be himself.

Also "Eat Pray Love".

...

I don't care, either, but some people will. Point is: August 13th will be the most epic movie weekend ever.

And I'm with Scott all the way.

Where other movies have one action hero (like Scott Pilgrim) The Expendables has several (Stallone, Arnold, Willis, Straham, Li, Crewes etc).

Man up and see The Expendables!

Going to see The Expendables first mainly because the friend I go see movies with has been waiting to see it for ages. Once I get back from a quick vacation the following week we will go see Scott Pilgrim though as he does want to see that now.

I will not be handing the keys to Hollywood over to teenage girls and G.N.O. You'll find me at The Expendables.

I plan to see both. Probably Expendables as a matinee show, then Scott Pilgrim in the afternoon/evening.

When I catch two movies on the same day and there's a disparity in the ratings, I almost always go for the R-rated one second, and for two action movies you can remove the "almost". I like to end up the day with the most violence. Another consideration in my planning is if there's a disparity in my interest: "Eh, I guess I'll see it" comes first, whereas "I'm so there" comes last, in order to leave the pleasantest possible taste. (Yes, violence is a pleasant experience.)

"Quirky" is not a selling point for me, and SPvtW looks quirky, but promise some fighting and a cute girl and I'm willing to give it a chance. Expendables on the other hand has me quite excited. Therefore I will be seeing Scott Pilgrim first and The Expendables second. I have Fridays off so I'll be able to catch both for matinee price.

Yeah, I'm not seeing that chick flick in disguise unless I get dragged to it, so I will be seeing The Expendables.

Well if my schedule confirms me as being off:

Step 1 - Take a shower with old spice
Step 2 - Go to Logan's Roadhouse, get me a ginormous steak
Step 3 - Smuggle the steak into the theater to Watch the Expendables and bask in its awesome.
Step 4 - ignore "Film Critics" since the majority of them have forgotten to enjoy MOVIES!!!

I just received 4 free passes to an advance screening of Scott Pilgrim on Thursday from my local comic shop, so you better believe I'm going Pilgrim

The Expendables says "explosions" to me. Thus: Big Screen.

Scott Pilgrim says "no explosions" to me. Thus: Rental.

Now BBQ, the special effects alone scream big screen with Scott Pilgrim. Super hero/video game effects on the big screen.

I am not going to let myself get drawn into an anti-Expendables rant. For all I know the movie will be good. Look at the cast of the Dirty Dozen. It just screams rental to me.

I should watch Eat, Love, Pray just to be contrary, but it simply does not appeal to me even as a rental.

Don't you guys know what Scott Pilgrim is?!

This place has gone to hell since I haven't been around!

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
