What Quality of Life things would you like to see?

I'm not sure if this is the proper place for this as I don't post on the forums all that much. Not sure if I've posted at all since the change.

However, the other day I was doing some missions and thinking about some things that I'd like to see.

1) A list of available salvage and the name of your character who has that. It would save a ton of time instead of having to log in each alt to see if, perhaps, he has that salvage.

2) Story arcs that update with the player. I have a character who went on a task force and outleveled the story arc he was on by a good chunk. Instead of boring runs through things where the mobs can't see me or, worse, having to kill them all, it'd be nice if our arcs would scale to our levels. Yes, I realize that might mean fighting Tsoo at level 50, but hey, they were in hiding. Steeling themselves for combat against you...

Those are my two for the moment.

One thing to keep in mind is that there's an effective limit here. As I understand it, a lot of enemy groups, especially low-level ones, can only scale so far. That is, you can never spawn a level 45 Hellion. But generally, yes, I'd like some fix for this, even if it's only being able to drop the arc. Getting stuck with six missions versus greys sucks. You can turn the enemy levels up if you only outlevel it a bit, but that's not always a perfect solution, and it only works if you're not that high past the arc.

Oh, ideas.

  • Have base crafting tables automatically look through your base's storage for materials, and use them directly from there. Alternatively, have a single point of access that pulls from all storage racks.
  • Ability to set up a button that turns on a bunch of toggles with one click.
  • Less rooting when toggling up, some powers root, some don't, I can find no rhyme or reason to which ones do or do not root.
  • A more selective respec system, that acts more like Mid's.
  • Big Red Ball.
  • Faster animations on powers. Powers that take more than, say, a second and a half to animate reworked to take less, rebalancing if needed. Powers that take longer to animate than they do to recharge are ridiculous (hello Barb Swipe). Recharge not starting until the animation is done is even worse.
  • The ability to use a recipe to craft the associated IO at any level lower than the recipe's level, withing the limits of a recipe's range.
  • Related to the last, the ability to actually set the level slider on random rolls so a roll at 33 gets me a level 33 random rare.
  • Merits being account-wide.
  • Markets merged, oh wait, yay!
Got lots more but it's time for work.

- Offline Supergroup invites.
- Alphabetic listing for all costume pieces at the tailor
- Leftmouse click+hold for free camera movement, instead of middle mouse, with a snap back to original camera postion if a movement key is pressed. Similar to most games of this type.
- Zoom via mousewheel in the tailor screen. Rotate mit left mouse clicked.

I'd be happy with only ONE change:

* Adjustable Range for "Tab To Next Enemy"
It's frustrating as ... well, something that's REALLY, REALLY frustrating!
How many times have I been tabbing through enemies, searching for someone in the group gathered around me to storm kick into next summer, when, suddenly, I'm targeting the Rikti Drone waaaaay over on Hamburger Hill? Whaa? It makes me a sad panda.

PS: Bow ties are still cool.

With self-defense powers, I thought they'd been mostly changed so that only powers that affect enemies rooted. Damage auras, auras with debuff components (like RttC), heals with to-hit checks, and the like.

Aha. This.

One tiny detail: When the game crashes, or there's just that much server lag, you get a "That account is already logged in!" warning when re-logging. It gets a little annoying some times. Maybe if the new login is from the same IP address, then terminate the current login, and just let me in? It happens when I press Log In the second time, why not the first?

Why is this necessary? I can understand having a long animation on a power which is considerably less effective being annoying. But if a long animation is on a power that does massive damage/debuff/buff etc. then the power is balanced around the animation(or it should be). It doesn't mean that the power needs less animation time. Some animations look cool enough that I wouldn't want them to speed up.

Although I will admit that some take too long while not being visually impressive. Hello Shadow Maul. I'd like to see you changed to an actual Maul made of shadows.

I can agree on the longer to animate than recharge bit. But if the recharge starts at the end of the power and the devs consider that balanced than I can't really complain. Well I could...but I'm not sure they would take me seriously.

Wouldn't that be a dead giveaway to the villains??

In all seriousness, count me in for better search functions for teaming, such as Team Looking For More flags, as well as non-truncated lists when searching and the ability to exclude folks on the lists already teamed who are NOT looking for more.

I would also like better search functions for AE arcs as well. Finding good missions with engaging writing should not be as harrowing as it currently is.

This would be great. Also: the ability to log out to character select.

Plenty of long animations are on powers that are not massive damage/debuff, and plenty of really good powers have fast animations. Heck, lots of times the power is good because of the fast animation, and many bad powers are bad because of the length of their animations. As long as we are dreaming, the replacements could be just as flashy, but shorter.

For the "good power, long animation" side, things like Full Auto, sure. It's long but effective. Same with Rain of Arrows. Then you have Eagle's Claw. A long, ugly animation with all sorts of wasted "hang time" for an attack that is actually pretty bad, overall. Shadow Maul's another one that people don't like, although I don't mind it. Jump Kick? Is that still the horrible flip animation? Shout? Electron Haze? Neutron Bomb (which suffers more because of the travel time of the bomb)?

I just find that a lot of powers are no-picks for me because their animations are terrible and long. Your mileage may vary. Not everything needs to be Blaze, but nothing should be Shout. I think capping animations at 1.5 seconds would make for a faster, funner game, although I realize some might disagree.

1. Auto teaming button.

You can click - Auto Team and any team that is set to accept auto team players - gets a member Automagically!

2. Buy recipe contents - click on a recipe you own and it automagically lists all the salvage and allows you to buy them all directly from there.

This already exists. You have to be in the WW/BM interface, but that's OK, because that's where you buy the salvage from anyway.

For some things I would agree, but not for every power being standardized like that.

I agree with the examples here. I would say that Electron Haze would be much more tolerable if it had a more consistent knockback effect. If the chance to knockback were 65% - 70% then I'd be good with the animation length. I know the devs have some kind of formula for calculating damage, recharge and animation, and it is also somewhat dependent on the other powers in the set. Electron Haze does seem a bit off, but it does have OKish damage.

I think different builds should feel differently. I wouldn't want stone melee to feel like katana in its flow. If you standardized animation times too much, then you'd also run the risk of making sets feel more generic, flashier replacements or not.

QoL change... better mods that aren't biased and a return to sensible rules

I have some things.

1. A better player search interface. Just being able to search by who isn't in a team would be really helpful when trying to find someone. A team looking for more would be nice too.

2. Increase maximums on number of people in global channels

3. shutting down of powers in Wentworths/Black Market or at least have one where that is the case. Sometimes I wonder if people turn on as much as possible to be annoying.

4. Each Wentworths/BM should have crafting tables and a vault nearby.

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster
CoH in WQHD

I'm liking this suggestions Emberly. Especially the 1st one about salvage in bases.

My personal additions would be

- Access to your Global Friends list from the server selection screen so you can decide which server/character you want to get on better. Maybe I'm naive about how the programming works, but if it's cross-server, it seems like it should be possible to show, like how they show server status on that screen.
- A better organized /cmdlist. I've often spent a long time scrolling through commands that had nothing to do with what I was looking for because I didn't know where it was. I'd like it if the /cmdlist were at least categorized or had customizable sorts like Wentworths and/or if it pulled up a table with spaces to explain the different arguments the commands need. It would be great if it were something other than the chat window so researching the command I need didn't prevent me from being plugged into what folks are saying.

This sounds like a great idea! My one concern with auto/open teams would be XP leechers or bad ex-team members who would might use it to harass a team that's just booted them. If the staff could create a way to secure against those who would abuse the function, I'd be all for it.
