Quote:As Carnifax pointed out, I am talking about controller pets who run from friendly fire. My fire controller teamed with a friends controller (yes, I have several different controllers) who had Phantom Army/Trick Arrow. He'd lay down an oil slick patch and my fire cages would set that on fire. His phantom army and my imps would run out of it and pretty much refused to go back till it dissipated.Ummm, Fire control doesn't have burn, it has bonfire, which doesn't have fear, but KB, which, while it is annoying, I think I do understand is supposed to both give it an area denial ability as well as some level of balance.
My own fire controller is a Fire/TA controller, so meaning she lays down fire cages, heavy res debuffs, and eventually her bonfire's going to be stacked with lit oil slick arrow, and it will doubtfully be very pretty.
While I want to /unsign this on principle of balance, it would be nice to not need to remember laying down the fire cages first and constantly have to reapply them for full effect.
I shall remain neutral on this.
Hope that explains it better. -
Quote:Enemy burn patches. Friendly burn patches.I think the OP is saying that enemy Burn Patches still make his pets flee in terror and he'd like the same changes that were made to Burn for the players should be also made to NPC characters like Scrapyarders etc so that his pets don't do the "AAAAAAH. I'M AFLAME" thing
My controller teamed with an archery/trick arrow defender who would lay down oil slick arrow and light it up.
My phantom army headed for the hills. While it was funny the first time it lost the charm quickly considering they can't even take damage. -
Oh please great disembodied beings that exist but are rarely seen...
You've removed the fear from burn for fire tanks. You've removed the fear from burn for archery defenders.
I beg of thee, please remove the fear of burn from our controller pets.
How silly is it that beings of energy and light (see Phantom Army) who do not even take damage will still run from a fire.
Or, even funnier, my fire imps. They're MADE of fire. Why would they run from it?
Thank you for your time.
Amen. -
Disclaimer: I've not had a tanker survive past level 35.
A friend and I made a duo team. He's got a Willpower tank and I took a Stone/Electric tank.
Just got to level 33 and my big, ugly rock-monster DE looking thing and love it.
To be honest, though, I have little idea what I need to do with him now. I'll assume that I'm mostly going to be in granite form when I am grouping with him so trying to come up with a build around that. What do I need to do to be successful, not die and just look freaking awesome while doing it? -
I'm not sure if this is the proper place for this as I don't post on the forums all that much. Not sure if I've posted at all since the change.
However, the other day I was doing some missions and thinking about some things that I'd like to see.
1) A list of available salvage and the name of your character who has that. It would save a ton of time instead of having to log in each alt to see if, perhaps, he has that salvage.
2) Story arcs that update with the player. I have a character who went on a task force and outleveled the story arc he was on by a good chunk. Instead of boring runs through things where the mobs can't see me or, worse, having to kill them all, it'd be nice if our arcs would scale to our levels. Yes, I realize that might mean fighting Tsoo at level 50, but hey, they were in hiding. Steeling themselves for combat against you...
Those are my two for the moment. -
Oh, thank goodness. I was fearing it was me.
So close to level and I can't get in. My Double Bubble XP is going nowhere and my limited time to play this weekend just got more limited. Stupid work. -

Ok, I may be dense but I REALLY dont get this policy.
2.) why does Cryptic and/or NCSoft feel they need to remain loyal to people who are no longer loyal to them? Seriously. The game has been going for 3 YEARS! If someone hasnt played since the first year its doubtful they will ever come back. Yet you feel as if you need to protect the manes of players who might not have played for over 2 years. This make NO sense at all. Especially based on a game where everyone MUST have unique names. Its already frustrating to name a toon now, imagine how it will be in another years time as there is less and less to chose from.
ose are the ones that need to be freed up for people.

Incorrect. 4 of us left after about a year of playing and moved on to other games (Warcraft, Vanguard) but all 4 of us came back and have been here for a couple months now, exploring all the new things.
So don't say it's doubtful we'll never come back. Sometimes we do. -
Thanks Cuppa. I've been looking for a list of channels.
Now if we could just have a few....dozen....more. :O)
-
I'm sorry.
I believe that your entire group has gone suppression happy.
Travel Powers - Suppressed during battle.
Stealth - Suppressed during battle.
What's next? Attacks suppressed during battles? (I know, don't give them any ideas.)
This has got to be among the worst ideas to come from the devs. Suppression, in any form, breaks the flow of the game. -
I just don't get it.
I can understand wanting to balance City of Heroes with City of Villains. Honest. I will never understand trying to balance hero against hero. In the arena, sure. In PvE? No.
I played my Martial Arts/Regen Scrapper to 50. It wasn't easy. Copper Cobra was meant to be something other than an offensive powerhouse - which he obviously never was in comparison to some other scrapper sets.
After that I wanted a chance to actually do some damage and have a fun character. I chose a Fire/Ice tank because I had teamed with someone and had fun playing with him.
Now this change is sucking the flavor right out of the character.
A "tweak" is where you make little adjustments, over time, to get to a desired effect.
This is massive, wholesale nerfage on a grand scale to nearly all AT's.
You want teams and I'm good with that. I like to team with people.
Let's see....yesterday there were 3 people in Crey's Folly. 5 after my partner and I got there.
Today there were 11 people in Independence Port.
If you want teams bring people in, don't continue trying to drive them away. I don't want to have to run around trying to find a team when I'm only going to be able to play 30 minutes.
Give the game flavor. Make it different. Stop trying to make everyone the same. Please. -

The comments the community has made have been read and were considered before Issue 4 went live. It was decided that the dev team felt the changes were needed and the issue went out with them.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, basically it became one of "We know best, don't bother trying to convince us otherwise."? The development team felt the changes were needed despite overwhelming comments (and evidence) to the contrary? Then why ask us questions? Why ask us to test things? We report on them, as asked, and you decide to do what you want to do anyway.
[ QUOTE ]
We have a responsibility to the individual player to make their game experience fun, but we also have a responsibility to the whole community to make their game experience fun too.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, for those of us who find these changes aren't fun? Your suggestion then would be...what? Wait (and continue paying) and see what happens or just quit the game and find something else? Massive changes to characters that you've played into the early 40's isn't "fun" Cuppa.

Hurtful insults and disrespectful comments affect us. We are human. To have people disrespect you and insult you and something you have worked so hard on in front of the whole internet is disheartening and demoralizing at the very least.

Funny. That's the same way I've been feeling since issue 4 came out. I've worked hard to make my character something I could be proud of and something my teammates could look up to. These changes make him neither of those things. To me that's exactly the same as a slap in the face and is just as disheartening and demoralizing. I won't make any bad comments about the devs. I try never to make bad comments about anyone. I would, however, like to point out that the people on the other side of the keyboards have feelings, too, and that we have worked just as hard to make our characters something we can be proud of. To have our work disregarded....well, you said it best, "We are human. To have people disrespect you and insult you and something you have worked so hard on in front of the whole internet is disheartening and demoralizing at the very least."
For those who think I'm trashing the devs please note it is not so. I am simply pointing out that their changes also affect us. City of Heroes is not just a game to some of us. We enjoy what we're doing and these constant changes, for sake of a balance that will never be found, dishearten and demoralizes us, too. -
I took it based on the description that foes would cower. Then, suddenly, they were running from me as fast as they could. Since my pets only have a limited range I would either have to wait until they came back or let them go. A problem in "Defeat all" missions.
