Alpha Slot Removed from Going Rogue
Ive been saying his and everyone says I am wrong that the system didnt work and that the system is messed up and there are massive bugs.
Tomorrow starts the loyalty program CB so maybe the Alpha slot is still there and I can see what it looks like because I for one want to know how boring it was. |

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

What makes you think that their "100s of missions" for a paid expansion would be procedurally generated instead of individually written/created? It's not like they keep shoveling radio/paper missions at us all the time instead of well crafted story arcs. Not that we get a ton of new arcs every issue, but still, it's usually hand crafted stuff when we get it.
I don't really see why they'd lower the bar for a paid expansion. |
100's of story missions is a lot. Though with my recent expereices with the lawyer language the City staff used with the preorder and how the wording about no others incentives for prepurchase means this 'style' of presenting information that it may only be 201 missions to be called 100's. But though thats another rant, its part of the casue and effect of why I will always doubt what city staff appear to say without running it through the lawyer translation program.
Anyway I don't see why you would not include those types of missions when making a statement like 'there will be 100's of missions'. I don't see anything bad in including those types of missions in that statement.
But CG like normal hasnt shown her source of info (or more openly admiting she is in cb or whatever), and why bother to search out the exact thing said, as it will turn out that people will say (much like in this thread) it wasnt anything offically said, as was only said in a forum address, was only mentioned in a video etc.
I don't remember where I saw it, but WW did say that. GG's statement is a little over the top, though. GG didn't actually say that the tip missions and 1-20 were the ONLY missions that made up those 100s, but she heavily implied it with her usual "state everything as an absolute fact" style. It may or may not be true. If I could find the statement, I doubt it was anywhere as absolute as GG portrays it as.
Disappearing Girl also notes: Though with my recent expereices with the lawyer language the City staff used with the preorder and how the wording about no others incentives for prepurchase means this 'style' of presenting information that it may only be 201 missions to be called 100's. Dec out.

Yep, it's advertising. Make it seem as appealing as possible. What I thought when I read hundreds of new missions is a few new story arcs and hundreds of new 'randomly generated combinations of different maps, objectives, and mobs' (ala mostly 'new' missions created like newspaper missions).

Hundreds of missions in a game like fallout 3 would indeed be tremendous. Lots of them take like 2-3 min in this game, so you'll find you go through the stack pretty quickly depending on how you play.
You know that it's not intentional, don't you? Like they've not used the prepurchase cash they tricked you out of to hire an assistant for Positron just to give him the four hands he needs to adjust his monocle, pet his white cat, stroke his goatee and twirl his moustache all at the same time - the delay to the alpha slot will be as disappointing for the devs as it is for the playes.

I've been gone awhile, but still, i'll reply.
*My* screwups are never intentional either, but they'er still screw ups, and I'm normally called to account for them where *I* work. Working for an MMO must be awsome. You screw up, and thousands of rabid fans come with pitchforks and torches to defend your honor. >.> Well... I guess there is the other side of the coin, the OTHER group of angry customers with pitchforks and torches wanting your head...
So it's a wash i suppose. I'm not demeanding my money back. I'm still on board. I'm just not happy with how things are playing out.

if the devs are reading this thread then they must have wished that they had never even mentioned the Alpha Incarnate slot and should have just kept it in the closed beta.
regardless of the posts and other conversations, it was never an "official" part of GR (ie website announcement) and although it is sad that its taken out and that so many of you are so mad about it, i bet posi and his team are working as hard as they can on it already. it would have been much better if they just said it was coming and they were actively working on it and not pinned even a preview to GR.
i bet it took a lot of effort to work out the technical issues with side switching, the market merge, new mission tech, etc. and hopefully their time can now be focused on new content, both in terms of 20-50 content for praetoria and 50+ content for Incarnates.
2 cents from someone who just came back for GR.

Well ok I understand the reason for this and I thank you guys for your professionalism. But I must ask you devs to do us ALL one big fat favor ok?
GET RID OF THE CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON EVERYTHING DOG GONE IT!!!!!! You guys want to boost the end game but you CAP our builds?? NONSENSE!!! Take the caps off and let us show you what we can REALLY do. Peace.
I think looking through the comments, I got to it first...Nerf'd (Alpha Slot) - Future action seen! How about a First and Secondary Power respec...I would love to be able to change the powers of my MM. I would even pay $5.00 dollars for this to be brought into effect over an...Alpha Slot!!

But then again, the market merge was never going to happen either so who know.

Powerset Respecification is one of the few things that actually *has* been said to never happen. Power Customization, Market Merger, and all the other things people often quote as "They said it would never happen but here it is!" were all said to be "unlikely" or "very difficult" or the like...but were never said to "never happen".
The Dev's never said anything about the market merge never happening. Posi at one point said it was unlikely to happen while the blue and red side economies were so imbalanced...but that's the closest it ever got.

As for being able to change your power sets. It has been said it will never happen and so far I can not find anything that would cause them to change their minds other than a major change in the staff at Paragon Studios.
'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

Dynamic respecs are very wanted by many players, allowing them would be wise.
They have reversed themselves on "Forget it, never ever going to happen EVER" stuff so often, that I now have zero belief left for such fiats.

Most of the "never gonna happen/most likely won't happen" items in this game that ended up getting done was because a large enough segment of the players wanted it (Power Customization) or it had to happen for the sake of game balance (Market Merger).
So, like I said before, I just don't see it happening without a major shake up at Paragon Studios.
I won't argue wise or not. I just don't think enough people really want this to justify the time to do the programming (from Paragon Studios perspective), especially considering that you can just make a new toon with the powers you want. This game was designed on that idea after all.

Better respec system? The current one is horrible, clunky wreck. I think that alone is excuse enough to give it an overhaul to make the process less painful.
And that way people whining about x,y and z changes have one less leg to stand on, namely 'But respeccing is horrible!'
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

From what they said at PAX East, the Incarnate system is in two parts - slots to give us more power, and content for us to use the power on - GR was going to give us one slot, but no content to use it on.
