Subjective feedback: Neat sets, but they put me in the mind of Devilman or Guyver rather than what I'd consider mutants.

Your Spines/Fire mutant looks pretty demonic. Colour the fire green and the combination of Fire/Toxic damage fits the game's idea of Hellfire quite nicely, too.

One thing I would like would be for the bioluminate pieces to be two colors. For example, right now if I want a black/orange combo, I make the skin black, but the rest is basically orange on orange. I'd like to be able to make it all black on orange. This might also help the glow stand out more.

Overall, though, I think the new sets look very good.

Yeah. Feeling equally annoyed with this pack and what is a growing sameness from the character modeling department. From the outside, it feels like there is strong artistic resistance within the costume department, like there are themes that they love to work on vs. themes based on personal tastes that they all but refuse to work on. (i.e. if Sexy Jay for example really hates anthropomorphic animal characters and has decided "I'm not doing a furry set. No way.") I say this based on having witnessed heel dragging first hand in creative teams for both television and publishing. The results I witnessed in those arenas echo this growing pattern of sameness amongst costume option releases.

If there really is that much resistance to produce anything other than the same techy looking layered armors and demonic bits, then someone needs to get in there and either provide some tough love and art direction, steering the team into the areas that really are needing OR if the creative culture at Paragon is much looser and management doesn't want to stifle, then someone new needs to be hired--even if just on contract--who has a strong affinity for these other areas.

So with this set lacking the long requested (and teased at by Positron) animal parts, the clock resets for all of us who have been pining for: thongs and feathered tribal sets, more generic silver or golden age patterns including face masks in the glasses detail section, bushy tails, stubby tails, animal heads, new monstrous heads, bird sets, amphibian and aquatic sets, bubble helmets, gorilla heads, a good geomorphic set, a revisit to the plant based set, proper vines wrapping around limbs, and a litany of rigid back details from tech backpacks to dinosaur plates to geomorphic chunks to weaponry to jet packs to glider wings. And that is really what disappoints. Because those of us--who have been hoping and waiting patiently for YEARS for this range of items which are clearly missing (sometimes entirely) from our costume options--need to start waiting yet again for another 6, 12 or 18 months to hope that one or two of these themes might finally be touched in the 1 or 2 sets and details we get with updates and/or the odd booster.

And though GG strikes me as a sweet person the apologism here only stings. *sigh*

SilverAgeFan, it's a shame you disabled rep because I'd +rep you for that speech right there. You're absolutely right.
Bill: I had a similar idea, the bioarmor with crystal spines and Super Reflexes. It works. It actually works pretty well.

It's looks more Demonic then mutant, but it has a nice flow to it, nice job, I would like to see more beast heads for you next booster pack.

You're kidding, right? Most of the special boots for females are either flats or only have a short heel. This is one of the few that has a stiletto style heal, and I'm glad.

It doesn't actually work like that - he seems to have a free hand to create what he likes if he has some free space on his schedule - but otherwise, he's working on instructions - for example, Issue 12 was focused on an ancient Roman and Greek theme - so he had to make suitable costume parts to go with it, because that's his job - to turn the art department and designers' ideas into digital reality - for issue 10 he had to make Vangaurd armor - for Issue 13 he had to make day job items - for GR he has to make Resistance and loyalist costumes.

Human-animal Hybrids, in most cases, are NOT mutants. If you were to go through the character roster for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for example, you would find that the vast majority were Science, a couple were Magic, and one or two (like Usagi Yojimbo) were Natural. But none of the "mutant animals" were actual mutants in CoH terms.

I think you're absolutely right. A new perspective, a different aesthetic--I think it's time to branch out a bit. Clearly the people behind these sets are very talented and skilled, but I'm sensing tunnelvision.

Speaking as a costume nut and a booster pack addict, I'm not sure if I'll get this one. I guess it was bound to happen eventually. I'm glad others are excited and clearly these sets are going to be great for many players. I'll look forward to the next booster pack.

Objective Feedback: All seem to be working, except, as said before, the tails appear to be missing. If there is also supposed to be boluminate wings, that is missing as well.

Subjective Feedback: I would like to request that Bioluminate set be compatible with other top with skin options. If it is possible, with this option, more than any other, would be a good time to add a 3rd color option and enable a layer, so that you can still get the bio-glow and colors, but also allow different topes, like T-Shirt, Tanker, Tank Top, and various other things. I am serious here. This might also help people be able to use other things like the bio organic, reptile, and other skin-like options to be overlayered with actual clothes.

Admittedly I would buy this pack just because the bioluminate costume peices fits, very well, with a concept I have just recently made.

Subjective: Both look good, but I'm leaning toward the Organic Armor due to the new model geometry. And on that note, it feels like something is missing in the waits/thigh area. Really could use some of that thorny armor as a belt option.

Suitable for making Plant creatures as well:

This looks EXTREMELY awesome with brown tinted Dark Melee, as it looks like the punches are full of dirt. Using /e crouch also looks great. The character looks like they are ready to sprout out at an enemy at a moment's notice.

Very disappointing set. I think it's as weak as the science pack. I have every item you can purchase when it comes to collectors and boosters (broke down and got science) but this one is very weak. I really think these guys need someone new to create costume pieces. These look like variations of things we have and this pack, so far, is one I will pass on. Boosted disappointment.

Subjective:

Please change info on what to expect. Ex:"Tails"

Con:

I see 1 reptile/glowy tiger looking mutant, but a demonic type as another. I thought the time spent on ANIMATING TAILS was the idea for this pack, it just boggles my mind to why you'd spend time animating something...and not EXPAND on it? seems lil half-***** if you ask me.

You can clearly see what people WANTED in this pack, yet there was nothing remotely favoring this small crowd of community this MMO has.

We wanted TAILS and MONSTER HEADS, yet nice these things are, they are a total curveball on what the players wanted to see in this pack, maybe that's a deep hard clue and motto to the great marketing this company is placed under (that was sarcasm)

"Let the costumer and player help design an awesome creative experience!"

You can label me as unimpressed and wondering if I do infact want to spend my money on something I might never use or want, and cause of poor communication on what you invisioned this booster to be, I do not have ANY desire or buying this, cause I've bought pretty much everything this game has to offer (cept for the wedding pack, the guy side of me has no need for it) and this booster from all that's been offered, does not work into anything I can create with it, or would seem worth while to spend that kind of cash on something I simpley might not even use.

Proes: I like the wings, and organic armor, the glow on the biothingamagig is a nice touch and hope to see more "glowy" options.

(Sorry, all the Proes I really had, I liked the magic booster far more than this)

TLDR: NO TAILS AND MONSTER HEADS??? WUT!! DEMON PACK THIS IS, MUTANT IT IS NOT!!! LRN MOAR ANIMATED TAILS AND READ MOAR MUTANT COMICS!!! MY 10 DOLLA WENT TO MASS EFFECT2 DLC!!! KTHXBI

The costumes pieces look great. They do however lack in the over all mutant booster theme. While looking great many are mutually exclusive to either certain colors or other costume pieces.

The bioluminous effect is neat, the glow depending on light is kinda neat. I agree the face option should be available for any face. In a game that is based upon characters looking vastly different from each other, it seems strange to make so many limiting pieces.

Hopefully there is still time for them to listen to the pleas of their buyers and add a few of the options in this thread. Maybe someone should get them a copy of one of the Bloody Roar games for the next Animal Mutant themed booster?

I have to agree with most of the other replies here in that I was hoping for more animal themed costume parts. I specifically wanted the pieces that would complete existing partial sets.

For example, we don't have a wolf tail, but have wolf heads.

We don't have a Minotaur head, but have other parts like hooves. And that one is even in the game, but not available to players.

We have good insect feet, claws, and wings, but not a good insect head. All we have is a terrible looking insect skin for a human head.

We have cat ears and tails, but not hands or heads.

If we could just complete those sets, I would be happy with it. And there is justification for it in the comic book world. A few mutant characters are animal themed. The one that comes to mind most quickly is Beast, from the X-Men:

Current picture of Beast

Like others that have posted, I probably won't purchase the pack as is. But, I would likely do so if some animal themed parts are added.

Heck, long before Beast's current form there was Wolfsbane, a girl who's mutant ability was to shift between a human form, wolf form and a hybrid form, essentially like a werewolf. These two characters are also part of why I really expected animal parts in this set, in addition to everything else that's hinted at it, and just the fact that we've been asking for this for so long.

It might be that I cannot use Ultra Mode; Is Bioluminate supposed to, well, luminate? They shed no light at all.
Check the male boots they have heals to. :P

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree here. I mean, after snipping out the more aggressive tone.

Is two costume sets all we get? I was expecting way more. Besides the fact that these don't even seem mutant-like to me (seems all like armor and metal or Witchblade), it's a very small sampling. And not at all what I was expecting or will probably be using.

Everyone was expecting new animal tails and heads. Fox tails, stegosaurus tails, shark heads. This is one area where CO has us really beat. They have all kinds of animal parts down to bird feather tails and fins. Why did we implement this tech for awesome new animated tails and then not use it? People have been wanting more animal heads since CoV introduced the couple we have. What gives?

If there's more to come I retract my statement. But if we aren't getting anything like this, I'm extremely disappointed. Been looking forward to mutant pack forever. Now I don't even want it. I'll probably have to get it just for the power, but as it stands it seems like this will be the second most disappointing, after Science (which I only got for supertailor).

HOPEFULLY this isn't all there is, since the OP mentions new "heads and tails" but I see neither. Maybe this stuff needed testing but the other stuff is still a secret. I really hope.

My hopes as well, Dispari, as it'd really be a hit to just be turned down completely by a set so many of us were looking forward to for that reason.

I'm gonna' chalk it up to GR. I'm sure they've got a lot on their plates right now. Either that, or there's more to come and this is just a sample. I want new costume options more than anybody though, trust me. I just hope we'll see some sometime after GR goes live and gets settled.

I think that these sets are something like test beds for others that will be maid/released later.
I know that they have bin working on glow items for a little while know. And not specifically for peaces like these.
