Super Booster V - Mutant Theme Costume Sets: Feedback
Subjective: No new heads or tails. Calling it a Mutation pack is... wrong. You know we've been asking for animal heads and tails, and you just made more demonic pieces.
|
New monstrous heads are needed. The current ones look... awful. Not only do players want ones that actually look decent, but more variation in species as well.
The same goes for tails - There are too many people wearing cat ears, simply because they're the nearest to what they want, and tails and then having to explain to others that their character is NOT A CAT...
Not to mention Monstrous legs. They need work along with the heads, they just look too awkward.
I know you as a game compete with World of Warcraft. WoW recently acknowledged its old feral druid graphics were old and crappy, so they redid them. They are also releasing Worgen, a werewolf-like species that looks pretty damn cool. It would be in your best interest to keep up with WoW by updating your old funky looking monstrous heads and legs by adding new ones. If you don't, I would not be surprised if many people seeking to RP as canine weres would get annoyed at the lack of decent graphic representation in City, and switch to WoW.
We have enough 'demonic' content. Please listen to your players.

Would also be super nifty and fulfill alot of peoples IC needs: On-all-fours monstrous travel power set.
And P.S. Thanks, Golden Girl! ^_^
What are your texture settings on? And what is your shadder setting on?

That's all of it. But I'm not the only one not seeing the glow here, there are others not seeing it either. If we have to crank up our settings to see it, then as far as many a player is concerned, you don't have glowing eyes after all, just a dark face in a hood.

I was asking for your settings because it might have been a bug, as some costume pieces in the past have not scaled well with the texture/shader settings.
It looks like you should just be fine though, similar settings to mine. Are you sure you didn't do something like pick a dark color for your glow maps? Choose Organic Armor face option for example and pick a bright shade or color.
If that fails, do you have the latest graphics drivers?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Subjective: shouldn't these costume pieces have been released with demon summoning?
edit: just hopped on test and checked the stuff out. Under - wait for it - whelmed. I'll be passing on this not-so-super booster pack, which is sad as mutation was the one I was most looking forward to.
I'd suggest improvements, but I doubt you guys are going to take it all the way back to the drawing board and start over again, so there is no point.
Test isn't working for me right now, but going by the pictures I've seen so far, I think the costume sets look very good - but they don't seem very...mutant - especially the demonic looking one.
Also, welcome to the forums, Jagu
EDIT: The first sentence is subjective

Subjective: +1 on questioning the mutant nature of this. Shades pretty hard into demonic, which as others have pointed out there are many items in this direction. Either way, I'll be getting the pack for the emotes. Hope to eventually find use for the items. And look forward to seeing what the new heads and tails actually look like.
Subjective moving forward: PLEASE for the next costume sets in development, PLEASE PLEASE no more tech armors, tech suits or demonic items till we hit some of the several areas that are lacking in the CC content. There is a noticeable lack of truly biomorphic items: better plant and stone parts, and grotesquely proportioned parts and growths with an emphasis on asymmetric looks. We know this can be done because of the few asymmetric details we do have, such as the gladiator shoulder. And of course animal parts--frog heads, fish heads, webbed hands and feet, bird legs, talons, monstrous heads that are up to current cc geometry standards, bushy tails and stubby tails. Personally I don't have a huge use for a fox/skunk tail, but a large number of people have been requesting these items for 4+ years now.
There needs to be a "Tights with skin" option for Females. To be able to layer the Organic Armor over regular skin would be incredible. Currently I have to fake it with Succubus Kali, but other characters that might want to utilize it in the same manner would have to resort to mismatched color schemes.

Objective Feedback:
Subjective Feedback: I can only hope this is an error, and much of the intended items are missing/broken. Please inform us when the rest of the booster is put onto Test, so we can give feedback on the entire thing. If this is the entire thing, I think this may be the first booster I skip. The costume sets, as they appear to me now, don't come anywhere close to the levels of quality I had come to expect. |

Subjective Feedback: Really loving the Organic Armor set. Having a hard time wrapping my head around Bioluminescence, but it's the kind of biological/mutation-based costume pieces I expected. It would be great if the...glowiness of it were a bit more pronounced though. Also, Organic Wings are terrific; shouldn't there be matching Bioluminescent wings?
Objective Feedback: No tails or heads. No sleeves or pants. No armors (unless you're referring to the Organic Armor individual parts and not the Armored top). Since these names actually exist in the costume creator, it would be better to say new tights instead of sleeves and pants, and new faces instead of heads (assuming what we see is what we get). But I'm betting tails are simply missing as they are listed in the OP. Notes may need lead to confusion, especially depending on whether or not other pieces are just missing right now.
Also, Alpha/Omega auras were available at tailor (in Pocket D, lvl 22 male toon), but not when creating from scratch or editing lvl 35 female in IP. Not sure if that's a bug that they're available or if you're just testing those at same time.
ETA: when editing a female, I noticed that Organic Armor is under tights, while Bioluminecence is under tights with skin. WAI?
Subjective Feedback: Dig the two sets... somewhat. Quite specific, though; not sure if they'll blend well with other costume sets, although the design abilities of the CoH players will surely surprise and impress me.
The set feels a bit empty, what with no belts, chest details, face detail 2s, heads, or tails. And no new monster legs either? Really?
Also, the more demonic feel of Organic Armor, along with a number of the science-feeling emotes, make this set feel less like a mutant set, and more like a mutant/magic/science set.
This describes my feelings exactly. I've been pining for this set's reveal since Issue 17 hit and before, and the lack of even a canine tail to match with the heads we have leaves me...deeply disappointed. I suppose I might have had my expectations too high, but I'd hate to pass up the last of the boosters for being underwhelming.

Also, although the term "mutant" has a huge range of stuff it can cover, including human-animal hybrids, I think animal parts would probably be in a special animal themed pack - or maybe in something like a "were" themed pack for Halloween.

Let me ask you this: Is it more of a glow like the Vanguard weapons, or like the Glowing Eyes face? What I see is more like the Glowing Eyes face, what I was looking for/expecting was more like the Vanguard weapons.

Well, it's not actually the last of the boosters - there'll be plenty more to come

Oh, so you were expecting particle effects to accompany the individual glow maps. No, it does not do that. These glow maps are essentially sections of the texture that are more or less not affected by lack of light. They don't actually emit any sort of glow themselves.

Since this is the costume thread, I'll keep it relevant:
Objective: New tails what? New heads what? Glowy parts what? Where are these things we were told about?
Subjective:
The bioluminescent set looks BRIGHT but I can't tell that it actually glows with light of its own. The Organic Armor is a beautiful set...for my demon summoness. And no monstrous options with this set, are you serious? I sincerely hope that there are massive missing parts in this preliminary rollout because this is extremely disappointing in an otherwise fun pack. I enjoy the /cce's and new emotes immensely, and I like the new temp power if we can get the looping animations debugged. But this... This would be what I felt to be the heart of this pack and it feels like a letdown. I was honestly expecting more Were- things.
Also: Hi bassAckwards! I saw you in the D not thirty minutes ago. (I was the weredragon who asked you to /em growl with him for testing purposes.)
Hello, my name is @Caligdoiel and I'm an altoholic.
If they don't introduce new monstrous heads, legs, tails, ears, and maybe an on-all-fours travel power with THIS pack....I REALLY hope they do in another one, soon. People have been waiting a long time for this stuff.
------
.... Random idea!
As a "face detail", add various animal muzzles that blend seemlessly into the base face. Eh? Ehh?
Thought I'd throw out a non-diabolical use of the new costume sets. Here's a spines/fire mutant.
Be well, people of CoH.
What do you know? How do you know there's going to be more boosters?

Why would those things be in some "were" pack you just came up with and why couldn't they be on this? |

It's not as cool as I'd hoped for, but I get it. And it is kinda cool. It's not glowing so much as "unshadowable". Like Morticia's eyes in the two (there was never a third) Addams Family movies.
