Issue 19: Incarnates

I actually fully expected the Going Rogue side-along issue to be called Dark Mirror. Not only did it sound nice and fitting, but it was the name of the CoH comic that was all about the Praetorians.

Then they went and announced issue seventeen, so my idea's out of the window.

Yeah, I kinda felt this way too. While getting 1 - 20 content with Going Rogue is neat and all, I really wanted some end game content. And with the Incarnate levels only accessible with the GR expansion, Issue 19 should be renamed, "Issue 19 - The Stuff We Couldn't Finish On Time For Going Rogue".

The other news with GR is pretty neat, but this was a huge disappointment for me.

I suppose it'll be two-handed, but it would be killer if you could get a style choice (like in D&D with rangers) and go one handed as well and combine it with the shield set (I'm looking at you vanguard costume sets).

I'm still have "Crossover" in the Issue 18 name pool.

Kinetic Melee sounds awesome, name issues notwithstanding. Electric control sounds interesting enough, though part of me wishes they'd have done dark control instead. Still the Paragon Studios people have done a great job with the last several powersets, so I'm sure it'll be great.

And incarnates. Oh. Em. Gee. I will have to pull my only 50--the prettiest stone tanker in Paragon City--out of retirement.

That was what *I* called my GOING ROGUE trailer... three months before the announcement of I-17's name. *holds her fingers up to her temples and chants* The videographer sees all and knows all.

And now I gotta remake my INCARNATE video. *sigh*

At least though this explains why the devs got irked with me when in my INCARNATE video, I initially had it labelled as "Issue 0: Incarnate". They told me to take the Issue thing off... but at the time, I didn't think to question why... it's coz we really WERE getting it as an issue!

Why?

The only reason to do so is if you want DP and/or DS early. It's a binary key online purchase. Prepurchase won't get you anything else faster. As far as I can tell anyway.

From the Live feed on NEWSARAMA:

Incarnate System will be 10 Incarnate levels, the first level will be available in Going Rogue, along with new incarnate abilities. Issue 19 will bring 9 more levels and more abilities.

The end game system debuts in Going Rogue, then is expanded in I19. Positron even said "Going Rogue system, a lot of fun, especially for level 50s".

Yeah, yeah, what's the definition of "fun"... but if you wanted some end game content, it looks like Going Rogue has some.

I'm one of the people that have prepurchased, but I'm more in agreement with Ravenswing here. I think that the people who don't prepurchase because they aren't really seeing the point in doing so are far less foolish than the people have bought it, and then complained that the devs 'made' them buy something before they knew what was in it.

I just know that I'll almost certainly be very satisfied, regardless of what more is added to what we know.

I suspect it got backburnered for quite a while - the devs had some really lean times for a while there. Chances are the upcoming side-switching and what was originally planned don't have that much in common. Likewise, I think the Incarnates were going to be an EAT, not something for all characters (whose players buy GR

).

This idea is much better anyway. Really, who WASN'T going to make their first Incarnate just an "advanced" version of their favorite character?
