I get the feeling Incarnate will be like an Extreme Accolade. That's how it sounds.
I'm guessing obtain badges, run certain missions, and possibly build secondary xp that goes to obtaining these incarnate abilities without actually gaining a level.

i17 will release and a second later, someone's going to make a new post asking when are they going to give us something new, because they're bored with i17 already.

in theroy from an ideological stand point maybe Incarnates are NOT invoking/manifesting the gods themselves but instead are drawing upon the things they represent. something like the Endless from Neil Gaiman's Sandman.
ie: Statesman is an incarnation of Raw Power or Lightning which was last incanrated as Zeus. or Lord Recluse is incarnation of Tartarus/Hades or maybe Darkness.
not that any of this would affect gameplay but it's just a thought.
>.> It was said in the vid that if you dont have Going Rogue you dont get the end game system.Meaning no GR= no Incarnate abilities.
Doesn't Percy's late level arc hint at the powers all being simular in a way? Maybe incarnate was the first true super origin and all the other kind of evolved from it. That way incarnate levels are just you reaching the pinacle of your power and there by coming closer to the sorce of the origins.

I think that is extremely unlinkely - something this big has to be open to everyone - putting out a boxed expansion based on the concept of switching sides, and then following it up with an Issue containing an endgame system that only players who didn't switch sides can access would just be plain crazy.
There is some chance they could make it only open to Heroes and Villains, so that only people who'd remained loyal or completely switched sides could use it, meaning Vigilantes and Rogues would be excluded - but even that doesn't really seem likely. |
I do recall the Devs saying that there would be some kind of reward / bonus for characters who didn't switch sides, i.e. started out as a Hero and stayed a Hero their entire career. Such a reward would not be available to anyone that switched sides, even if they made the full transition. I don't know if the Incarnate system is that reward or not.

Abso-frikken-lutely not. It's likely a badge and maybe a contact or something small like that, but to lock out an entire game system from a very large number of characters just because they choose to fall/redeem themselves? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. The developers are not stupid.
|
Playing Devil's Advocate here, are you saying the Devs have never made what players have considered to be stupid decisions? Look at PvP. And regardless of how trivial the reward will be for staying true, there will be people complaining about having their fallen / redeemed characters being locked out of it.
|
Locking a game system out of another game system, when they are both access-gated by the same expansion, is just shooting yourself in the foot. It's stupid. STUPID.
PVP I really don't care about. They've made PVP changes that affects an incredibly small subset of players, and does not affect any other part of the game. I don't call them stupid, no; Castle himself has said that it didn't include all the changes he wanted, and some of the changes weren't even close to what he originally suggested.
Locking fallen/redeemed characters out of the Incarnate system, when both of them are gated by purchasing Going Rogue, and when fallen/redeemed characters will probably number in the thousands within months, is just flat out STUPID. There's no other word for it.
Playing devil's advocate for it is equally stupid, to be honest.

I don't care about people complaining about things. Give a person a free piece of cake and they'll complain it's not a flavor they like.

Regardless of what you mean, making a stupid mistake (or more than one) does not make a person stupid, which is what you seem to be implying.

I'm thinking that Incarnates will require some "well of the furies" schenanigans as a task force or personal trial. With Cimerora availiable, they could really throw in the Greek Mythology heavy, plenty more temples etc to perhaps find the "Original" well of the furies?

And now there are Doppelgangers, enemies that are yourself! They can have a color swap, or have the same exact costume, and every character or party will have their own different missions with doppelgangers |

Wasn't 'Dark Mirror' issue 16 of the comic though... they're obviously slightly behind the top cow dictated schedule.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

17 > 16
Therefore devs behind the Top Cow dictated schedule if we just compare the issue numbers attached to both comic and in-game issue.
It wasn't a 100% serious post.

You enter a mission, press the button and everyone in the public zone hears a bunch of screaming, loud bangs, etc and the building you enter begins shooting dead bodies of the enemy type you're supposed to fight a-la repel. After a minute it stops, and you exit the now completed mission dusting your hands off.
Wait... wait... wait...
They are increasing the level cap and introducing an "end game system"?
....
...
Are be starting to become WoW?
I'm concerned.
